He will face Igor Andreev from Russia, a player with super top spin forehand like Nadal... May be good for Federer to prepare for tougher test... I hope he can keep this form until final.

Today's Schedule

Not before 1 a.m
Rafael Nadal (1), Spain, vs. Sam Querrey, United States

Night Session - Start time 7AM
Serena Williams (4), United States, vs. Severine Bremond, France
Stanislas Wawrinka (10), Switzerland, vs. Andy Murray (6), Britain

Louis Armstrong Stadium - Start time 11PM
Anna-Lena Groenefeld, Germany, vs. Dinara Safina (6), Russia
Amelie Mauresmo (32), France, vs. Flavia Pennetta (16), Italy

Not before 6:30 a.m
Kei Nishikori, Japan, vs. Juan Martin del Potro (17), Argentina

Today is the labor day for America... So expect a great for tennis as the fans will be all out today.

Nadal will face US young gun Querrey. I have seen some Querrey matches, serves very well, very good groundstrokes as well. Mentally i'm not sure whether he's ready to beat Nadal.. but i think he may able to give Nadal some trouble with the help of the American fans.

Wawrinka will face Murray as well at the night match. smile.gif

Its no doubt that Nadal's serve has improved, but its still not at the level of dominating people with his serve.

I think Querrey may have a chance in breaking Nadal's serve because the way he returned Karlovic's serve.. And Karlovic has one of the biggest serves in the men's game.. And yet Querrey broke Karlovic serve twice. Thats not easy.

I hope Querrey can at least get a set away from Nadal.

As i have expected, Querrey would give Nadal a tough match. Its the toughest match for Nadal so far... Querrey almost won the 3rd set, serving for the set at 6-5, but Nadal managed (as usual) to break back Querrey, forced it into a tie breaker and won it.... Cruel for Querrey but this is the way.

Really disappointing match by Monfils. I thought he would beat Fish and face Nadal in the quaters. But Fish beat him and now Nadal has an easier opponent in quarters. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Maybe Nishikori was too tired after the match against Ferrer... He's still young and need more time to develop the body... Del Potro played well and will face Murray in the quarterfinals.

Although Fish has played well against Blake and Monfils, i'm not too sure whether he can do that against Nadal.. He serves and volley quite alot and Nadal's strength is hitting all those crazy passing shots. But Fish does have a big serve and its very useful in US Open.... Nadal has not been playing at his best YET, so Fish may get one set or 2 from Nadal. I hope he does..

I agree that its Federer to lose. I just hope that he will continue to improve on the form he's on now. smile.gif

Nadal's semifinals opponent (if he beats Fish of course), will either be Murray or Del Potro. Both are playing well but i think Murray can give Nadal a tougher match. Murray has never beaten Nadal before but he has certainly gave him a few tough ones. He beat Wawrinka convincingly... and really one of the top contenders for US Open.

Yeah, the lob is crazy. I'm not sure whether this match will help Federer or maybe make him tired for the remaining matches.

I think on the paper Federer has the easiest opponent in quarterfinal, but Muller has been creating upsets almost everytime he plays so far. Federer cannot underestimate this guy.

Today we have Venus vs Serena. So far i think both of them have been the BEST players in the US Open, thrashing all their opponents. Its pretty sad for them to meet in the quarterfinal.. too early..

We also have Murray vs Del Potro and Nadal vs Fish. Fish will have all the crowd backing him surely.

Yeah. He does seem passionate about the game.. no doubt.. from what i see through his emotions. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif I do hope that he can come back even stronger in next match... This form is not enough to beat Nadal, surely.

Djokovic seems weak to me also. He said he doesn't feel well after the long match against Cilic at night.. Stomach ache, and seem lethargic in the match. I think Roddick may have a chance to beat him in the quarterfinals. Really tough for Djokovic.

I think this maybe the biggest chance for Jankovic to get into the final of a Grand Slam event. smile.gif She has lost many times in the semifinals... and now against Dementieva, not to say that Dementieva is not a great player, but at least it maybe easier than facing the likes of Henin, Williams sisters. smile.gif

With all the pains and injuries Djokovic says he is having now, i think Roddick has a great chance of beating Djokovic.... smile.gif Should be a great match tomorrow.

Murray just beat Del Potro in a long 4 sets match that pushed through the night matches... Now Venus and Serena are about the start now... I predict Nadal vs Fish match will surely end very late tonight... He's tired, no? Hahha.

Lolz, its expected that Nadal would win. The match ended around 2AM in NYC. tongue.gif tongue.gif
Gonna be real tough for Nadal against Murray.

So you don't like Djokovic? Maybe he may use the injury tactic again, asking for the trainer to help him, to get some AIR. They will face each other tomorrow at 7AM.

Serena beat Venus in straight sets. Guess she would be the winner for US Open.

Because they actually put an exhibition match between two oldies before the match. Thats why it put the around that time... Most of the time it would be that time. =)

Lolz, what time is your college?

Yeah, injuries like stomach ache + tiredness, yet beat Robredo in 5 sets under the hot sun. =) Superb.

Really praying that Federer won't underestimate this Muller, because Muller has created many upsets so far.. =)

Murray vs Nadal should be super exciting.

QUOTE(diegoadriadona @ Sep 4 2008, 11:18 PM)
hope today djoko won't do anything like he did agaisnt robredo..taking more time to rest...Federer is not really consistent in this tournament so far...One match he plays well and the next he falters..never know wad's wrong wif him..

Nadal vs Murray?? i am still gonna give nadal the edge..he's playing very good now...no?
*
I won't say falter, because Andreev really played well on his own right. smile.gif But Federer is definitely not playing his best.. but its good that he went through all these.... One can't be at their best all the time... You can only hope that he will peak in the final...

And today he beat Muller. I won't say its his best performance, but at least he played well at the crucial points, and hit some very beautiful backhand passing shots.. Now its time for him to prepare for the tough semifinals against either Djokovic or Roddick.

OMG, i think its happening.... Roddick lost the first 2 sets and now leading in the 4th set.. big chance that this match would go into the 5th set.. Gonna be tough for Djokovic because Roddick is much fitter now since he didn't go for the Olympics.. Seems to be a right decision now. tongue.gif

I think Murray deserves to be No.4. He's the one that can challenge Nadal or Federer or Djokovic, compared to Davydenko who always falls in the big stage. I don't think Djokovic is unbeatable, looking at all his matches so far.. he's really playing not at his best, same with Federer or Nadal...

I will put my money on Murray, because he's so good on hardcourt.... He has not beaten Nadal before but this is his best chance to do so. He must attack Nadal by going to the net.

Federer should also take the chance to beat Djokovic... Roddick really had the chance to make it to 5th set.... but he choked, thats very bad.

Tomorrow is the women's semifinal day.

According to some report, there may be heavy rain (Hurricane Hanna or something) on Saturday... The men's semifinals and women's final are all scheduled on Saturday.... there is a great chance that men's final will be moved to the Monday (US time)

Lolz. Should be a very exciting day for the women's semifinals. Both Dementieva and Jankovic are great movers, i predict that we have all those long rallies in this match.... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif They will surely give everything to win the match..... They want a grand slam tournament so much.

While Safina vs Serena will be a power match... strong forehand, strong serve.... Power tennis. smile.gif

Well, as much as i want Jankovic to beat Serena in the final, i seriously don't see them happening after watching Serena owning Safina with her power and also movement.

According to the USOPEN.org, there is a great chance of rain due to the Hurricane Hanna coming to New York... So prepare for the worse.
If they get to finish the men's semifinals but not the women's final, then the Women's final and Men's final will all be in Sunday of US. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

Maybe... Ngek ngek..

There are two scenarios now...
One is if they get to finish the men's semifinals but not the women's final tonight, then two finals will be in the Sunday.

Another is if both semifinal and women's final rain out, then semifinals and women's final will be moved to Sunday, and the men's final will be on Monday...... Hope that won't happen. sad.gif sad.gif

Very nervous now.. Federer vs Djokovic. Really hope Federer can win this, and give him enough confidence for the final.

And the women's final.... Maybe its time for Jankovic to win her first grand slam title. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
