I just obtained an unlocked iPhone 1.1.4 today from someone who recently bought it in USA. It works fine with my SIM card (in malaysia), but there is no Installer icon in it. After much searching, i found out that Installer is available from apptap.com. I used a Windows PC and downloaded the Installer for Windows. When i run the installer setup, it prompts me for iPhone versions 1.0.0, 1.0.1, or 1.0.2 only. Am I out of luck? What should I do?
All help appreciated.
In much stress, Lukas

iLiberty+ is more recommended as there's several issues regarding jailbroken with Ziphone.

How can we unlock an iPhone without jailbreaking first? This is an interesting scenario.

Ah... i always thought unlocking and jailbreaking is the same thing. Still don't know what the differences are between the two. Guess there's A LOT about iPhone that i do not know.
Since iLiberty does both unlocking and jailbreaking, and my iPhone is already unlocked, will running iLiberty still work? Which options should i choose when i run iLiberty amongst the many options presented: eg. unlock, jailbreak, activate, youtube fix, setup installer, downloading bootloader, etc. My iPhone just acquired today is 1.1.4. and it's bought in US, but i live in Malaysia. Currently, i can use it for phone call (incoming and outgoing) and sms.
Thanks.

QUOTE(nokia2003 @ Jul 11 2008, 01:19 AM) using +iliberty but untick the installer box? Errr let me rephrase dat ... Is it possible to unlock an iPhone thats not been jailbroken? Unlock = enabling the phone to accept any sim from other telcos other than on the intended telco. Jailbreak = opening the phone system to user to access all the system files and lift up any restriction on it.

QUOTE(hendra86 @ Jul 11 2008, 03:16 AM) issues like what while using Ziphone? Something to do with the way ziphone jailbreaks your iPhone or something; read it somewhere ages ago. Don't worry, it's no big deal if you've done it and nothing happened to your phone.

I assume your phone was jailbreak by ziphone. iPhone thats been jailbreak by ziphone will face this issue coz it did not enable a service (AFC2 or AF2C if not mistaken) to run. This only happen if you use iphonebrowser, it will show that the phone has not been jailbreak. If u use SSH, u can view all the filesytem. To overcome this, install ZiPhone iBrickr fix from iClarified (or was it i.unlock.no ... err mana mana la). This fix will enable the service and iphonebrowser will detect it as jailbroken. Last time u got problem coz u jailbreak an already jailbroken phone. Of couse la kaput.

After 15 replies, there is still no definitive response as to what I should do. If i go ahead and run iLiberty, which of the options should i select (jailbreak, activate, youtube fix, unlock, downgrade bootloader, cydia )?? My iPhone (1.1.4) currently can make calls and do sms, but doesn't have the Installer icon.
Can someone who really knows this stuff provide a definitive answer? Much thanks.
