ok, i was fooling around with a recording software. i was recording a few stuff(crappy) to test things out a few hours back. when i listened to it, i kinda like it. i've been using this new setting for a couple of months, but never tried to record it. so this is a surprise to me, my old setting didn't sound as nice when recorded. so click on the url below, it should stream if you have quicktime. downloading is faster, 900Kb snippet.

the question is, with apologies to the bad playing(no warm up), did i nailed the sound (in terms of NICE sounding)? sounds pretty sweet to my ears. share your opinion please. is this sound setting a keeper?

Added on November 25, 2008, 12:14 amnothing really. i did it all the time. polishing the fretboard as i change the strings. try searching in youtube, u need to block the FR to take out all the strings. the FR might come off if you don't.

you need to block the FR unit from going all the way back. a 9v batt(wrapped with tape) would do it. just place it underneath the FR while pushing the arm down. this will block the FR unit from going all the way back and come off the stud screws. i use a wooded block.

guys somthing is weird
the nut on my guitar, the length is not same as the width of the neck
theres some gap between them

i don't think it's a problem. it may be uncomfortable playing at the 1st fret, but other then that, i don't think it's a real problem (having a 43mm nut on a 42mm neck isn't really a bad thing, some people may prefer the bigger spacing). the nut is just there to lock the strings after all (we're talking about FR nuts, right?). although you might wanna check whether the string alignment/spacing is correct with the offset.

...and GrooveTube 6L6s are 450 for 4. Not bad since MSRP is USD45 per tube...
