Hello guys,

Wanna ask your opinion.

Planning to change wheels & tyres for my Mazda CX5

Now it uses 225/65R17 & I plan to change to 18in tyres

After some searching, i've come down to this 2 options

- Enkei SC37
- Enkei RS05RR

Initially i want to get the Rays Gram Lights 57XMA but need to import & the price is way out of budget.

RS05RR

SC37

Would like to hear your thoughts

1- Which of the rims above do u think looks best for compact SUV like CX5

2- The stock 17in tyre sidewall is 65 which i think too thick. Can I change to something around 50-55 for the aspect ratio/sidewalls? Will it significantly affects the car performance, driving dynamics etc?

Yes this VD06 is super nice.

Btw my initial aim was the Vorsteiner V-FF 107 but thats only available for 19 & 20 inch PLUS it is tooo expensive! Hehe

This Varro wheels looks very similar to the VFF107 & it looks good also on SUVs.

Btw any tyre recommendations for this wheels? Plan to use sidewall around 45-55.

Looking at the Evo12 v2, Falken FK510 or the MC6. Im not sure whether all this tyres a suitable for SUV like CX5.

If talking original and you have the budget, then I'd pick the RS05RR coz I think it's the lighter of your choices (CMIIW) and the design is also timeless.

I totally support your decision to upgrade to 18 coz by doing this you have choices of those excellent UHP tires which you won't have with the stock size. As for the tire choices, your should go either with the new FK510 or V12E2 coz both are very well proven internationally as excellent high performance tires yet with much more reasonable prices, basically the best bang for the buck. MC6 is not yet well proven since it's mostly just for Malaysia market so I wouldn't get that unless no other choices available.

the design almost same.yeah..i have seen this vff107 too.45 is too low profile.dont suggest 45 series.futhermore the gap between tyre and fender will look big.55 would be ideal in my opinion.v12evo2 is good if it is available for your size.not sure about sure about fk510.stil very new although review is good, might have difficulties finding this model.

Thanks for your opinion. I do agree with you the Rs05RR design is timeless & more versatile compared to the Enkei SC37.

I've enquire few shops for the wheels but most of the shops actually recommend MC6 or the Latitude Tour HP. Im still searching for the correct size. its either 235/55R18 or 235/50R18.

The FK510 or the EVo12V2 would still be my top choice.

Ya i agree with you. 45 maybe too low. I think would opt for 50 or 55.

Btw ive searched through the available 18" profile for FK510, it seems the max sidewall they offering for 18" is 45

Hmm I just checked your tire size conversion and you need to use 235/55/18 which is unfortunately not available for either V12E2 or FK510 coz this is still SUV size tire. Not sure if MC6 is available or not.

Dealer shop also recommend 235/55R18. You are correct, ive searched thru V12E2 & FK510 doesnt have the profile mentioned

So far these are the available tyres for 235/55

1- Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 - not sure price
2- Conti MC6 - RM500+
3- Conti UC6 - RM500+
4- Hankook S1 Evo2 - RM400+

Not sure about Michelin, Toyo etc.

For V12E2 the nearest one available is 235/50R18

Which brand would you choose? Thanks!!

This is even more headscratching, how can US workmanship cost to be that low??

Anyway, who you contacted regarding the varro rims, kinda interested. Did you manage to also find out the weight of VD06 that you yourself is interested in?

No brainer choice, get the S1 Evo2! That one is also very well proven to be an excellent UHP tire from Hankook, maybe even better than V12E2 and still very closely matched with the new FK510.

varro original rims likely made in taiwan..just like sparco, they are under o.z italy if not mistaken but the rims is made in taiwan so it is affordable.around rm 2500-2600+..same range as varro wheels.
p/s but sparco are not flow forms..the advanti in the range of 2.5k++ are flow form rims.

yeah..they are designed by varro usa,not manufactured.
just like sparco design by oz italy
tyre wise continental engineered in germany but made in malaysia
pirelli also engineered by italy but made in china.
something like this just for example.
so the price will be affordable.
