so far no issue..most change sport rim without changing suspension.tyre use 225/50/18.some of the members using 235/50/18.
what rim are u going to change?width and offset have to be suitable as well.

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Nov 1 2015, 08:46 PM)
Don't need to change the suspension lah. Just make sure the new rims and tyre gives you the same diameter as the 16". Make sure the offset and width is suitable for your car so it doesn't cause fender rubbing and/or hitting your suspension.

Cool. thanks for the feedback guys. I have not decided which on the rims yet and may set a day to go shopping. Any good recommendations? biggrin.gif

I noticed that the rims stated offset of 45 but you earlier recommended me to use 50. Will 45 be okay?

just wanna share a bit my experience..
before change to 17', i use 15' 195/55/15 with Michelin PS3 tyre..
change to 17', 205/45/17 with Archiles ATR Sport tyre..

result
- a bit noisy due to tyre
- comfortable still the same (compare with both 17' n 15' using Eibach Sport spring)
- with 15' n Eibach spring i always hit high 'bonggol' when 4 adult n 2 kids (age 2-3) inside.. after change to 17' no more..

Hi all sifus, does anyone knows of a tyre shop that accepts 99% new ori rims and tyres? I will also need to get new tyres for my new rims from that shop.

P/S: Planning to get Michelin XM2 185/55R16

Hi all super rim sifus. I plan to change my current 17inch rims to 18inch onto my civic fd 1.8L. Need advice as is it a good idea of doing that. Any pro and cons? Will 18inch damage the car or does it affect the performance etc etc. Pls advice.

No, not a good idea.

Pros: just looks only, nothing else.

Cons:
Slower performance due to heavier rims (unless you are prepared to spend relatively high to buy big but lightweight rims).
Might be also longer braking distance due to heavier rims.
More fuel consumption, again due to heavier rims.
Harsher ride/less comfort due to much thinner tires. Even with the 17' now the tires are already quite thin.
More expensive tires also. Don't tell me you plan to upgrade to bigger rims but later skimp on cheapo tires!

Get original Japan Enkei RPF1 size 16x7 with 205/50/16 tires (Michelin PS3, Bridgestone RE003, Goodyear F1-D5, or Hankook V12 Evo2 if you can find for that size).
