Dearie,

Memang, kalau boleh nak peek like every second.
I got the first peek at the little durians when I wanted to surprise zara, but got surprised myself biggrin.gif

But after that I refrained myself from peeking, which is very hard....
If you nak peek pun when she leave her babies untuk makan. I did that but I make sure zara tak perasanlah....

Am not sure I have hintz to give dear...
As I said earlier, nothing to worry. The mummy will know what to do...

cheers!!!!

EMERGENCY!!!!

My baby just give birth!!!

just now peek into her box and boom!!

3 litters. haiya. im damn shocked. i cover the box coz from my reading, we cant watched the baby or else the mom
would eat them. rite?

Plz, do help me. i dont plan for this to happen.

It's 3 hoglets, 1 litter.... you got it wrong.

Do not ever peek. It would just disturb the female.

Also.... your hoglets most likely are inbred..... how come the seller never separate males and females?

One thing to worry, any inbred animal would have a shorter lifespan and weaker immune system..... for me it is not something to be joyful, is more like worry worry worry.....

There was such a case with my friend..... turned out her female mated with it's brother but the seller never said anything, kept denying not. From 3 hoglets, become 1.... vet checked, said immune system too weak, that is why died.... all coz of inbreeding.

So you better get yourself ready..... if your female is young, she may cannibalize or reject the hoglets if she is stressed. You better get milk on standby. I handfed hoglet that haven't open eyes before because my female rejected her hoglet and cannibalized 2. Stress of having a litter.... This is normal for 1st litters some times.

Give your hedgehog plenty of kitten food and water. Do not move the enclosure in any way. You can only start moving stuff around after 2 weeks.

Birth matter...

Dear guys.. To be honest, I sold the hedgie to omisa.. Anyway, I'm not the owner nor the breeder (p/s- I do not breed hedgies..).

I checked the hedgie with the previous owner and we found out she's not pregnant. I also make sure the hedgie is very healthy and free from mites.. I bathe the hedgie before it went to new home.. And also I make sure the hedgie is very very tame.. She didn't even quill up when omisa first held the hedgie.. Bout the pregnancy, maybe I'm not too expert yet to tell.. Yeah but I'm learning..

The hedgie was planned to be kept with a male albino for breeding purpose but after some time it didn't succeed anything at all.. So the owner plan to sell.. So no 'inbreed' confusion here..

I'm sorry if the hedgie gave problems to you.. However, I offer to pay back your money or take care of the hedgie & hoglets ( err, the previous owner will..) I do not leave my customers by themselves in any ways..
Sorry was a bit busy lately, you know la, weekends musicians sure have loads of gigs and shows..

Here's the number of the previous owner: 0172193620.. sms him if you have any questions.. but to let you know, I'm also here to help you out..
So sorry for any misunderstandings, I'm gonna make sure this won't happen in future..

Anyway, congrats omisa!

anderyna, Pet Shack got starter kits for hedgies..Please PM me and I'll direct you to it's thread... thanks!

Dear Bonai,

Yes, that hedgie is a very nice one. healthy, tame n playful. im very happy to have her. smile.gif

For the birth matter, its just a surprise. yeah, it freaked me out a bit. but when came to think bout it, maybe this chance wouldnt
come twice. (since i never intend to breed). so, i decided to raise the babies myself.
For this matter, im still a newbie. dats true. currently, im googling for info. going thru discussion forum in hedgehogcentral as well.
Any advice are welcome. notworthy.gif

Btw, the mama n her babies are having their own privacy. approached the box only when to add food n water. smile.gif

Do you hear squeaks? Hopefully you won't experience cannibalised young..... coz I did, that is why I had to hand feed my hoglet. Luckily she survived and ended up in a good home.

Give plenty of kitten food and water, you can only do cleaning after 2 weeks since birth.

Good luck.

Yups, that's the hoglet's sounds. As long you hear that everyday, it means they are fine and healthy. If no sounds, then there could be something wrong as this is from my experience. Hoglets squeak or chirp for their mom.
