QUOTE(jiaxun @ Jul 6 2008, 12:25 AM) My father called MBB CS to increase the CL. He had never submitted a payslip before yet they allow. My experience with MBB also not that good. My first credit limit application by submitting a form is being rejected. They said that my cards haven't reach one year. Now, I'm applying second time since my card has reached its first annivesary. Let's see how it goes. Hope they don't piss me again this round.

@kenji1903, If the bank has given U its approval for the increase in CL U wouldn't need to split payment 3k+3k or 4k+2k; can just swipe 6k straight away. Also, I think 4k+2k was suggested because that might give a higher percentage of success as compared to 3k+3k *shrugs* It's a fixed rate of RMx [it's not a big amount; either RM5 or 10] for each transaction made exceeding CL - it's not based on personal experience but it is stated on the monthly credit card bills that come [check the bill - it's right at the top before the entire statement] but u prob can call up and get them to waive it *shrugs* @David83, Instead of using ur CC to obtain a 2nd card, Y not just put in an application together with the documentations? That way, they'll be able to give U a card? @chippy09, I believe the foreign banks do have to follow rules too I don't think they're any more flexible than the local banks; except their service is probably a level above

Both applications I got submit my payslip as well. No use for the first application as the reject reason is my card age < 1 year.

@David83, If U give the bank ur pay slip and put in all the documentations needed, it shouldn't matter whether or not U have an existing card be it 1 year or less isn't it?

@David83, In that case, the onli other reason I see for the Bank to reject u is that ur 'total credit' is oredi v high? *shrugs*

> famous why 3k+3k and not 4k+2k since my credit limit is 4k? the merchant machine is smart enough to accumulate both transactions together and consider it as a single transaction? Oh it's just an example ma. If u want 4k + 2k also can one. As long not 5k as ur cc limit is 4k per tranx only ma

@David83, Total credit refers to total monies owe to bank at time when U put ur application in. If U oredi haf a house loan + car loan + personal loan + CC of RMx CL; the banks will take into account ur monthly salary and see if u are a risk to them or not before they issue U with a CC or give U an increase in CL.
I don't know if that is how they really gauge things but that's what I was told once upon a time by Citibank; though I no longer am too confident about the stuff Citibank tells me cause I get different information from different people *sigh*

I encountered twice: 1) At that time, low CL 7k. Already spent 2k+ on flight ticket to Europe. Check out hotel, 5 days stay @Euro 1.5k (5 star ) converted back roughly 6k+ at that time. Cannot go through. My colleague pay for me. 'Malu-nya' 2) Short by RM300 CL to swipe hotel room in SG. That month travel too much and busy until forgot touching CL. Use the backup card from another bank, can go through. Nearly miss my flight, else have to wait next SIN-KUL shuttle flight. I need to pay flight + hotel myself and claim later. A couple of days ASEAN trip will easily RM3-5k. That's why can collect a lot of CC points.

@cute_boboi, Yes, high CL is bears great advantages esp for those who travel a lot but otherwise, most of the time, U wouldn't need too high a CL.

@David83, I know how irritating it can be cause like I said, I too never been given an increase in CL despite being a loyal customer with them throughout all these years. I'm actually not surprised they declined your application for an increase in CL.
My reported salary was RM1.8 p/month when I first applied for the card. I believe the last time I asked for a CL (and was rejected) my reported salary was RM4k. Since then I never bothered getting an increase in CL.
Anyhow perhaps they oredi took into account ur total outstanding monies owed to the bank with ur new salary and felt u were still a risk? *shrugs*
