Hi,

Let me start of with a little introduction of myself, i'm a guy 21 this yr, was a skyline freak since young age. Just wondering is it worth buying a skyline r34 gt-t, i understand this car is consider an old car, yr of production was dated 99' to 01' am i right ? correct me if i'm wrg ya. So rather than making assumption from myself, it is better to ask seniors n the experience ppl to gv some opinion on this topic.

Your opinion will be much appreciated, ty smile.gif

Hi gerrardinho,
Of cos if i hav a lot money, i wouldn't mind at all, in fact i might probably getting the gtr version. Basically, at the moment i still can't afford the gt-t yet, mayb in the near future. But still, i'll gv myself a time frame to reach my objective, mayb in a yr time. Actually for myself, i'm not really fancy on the speed tat much, a little bit of cos got la... but more on the look of the car(will modifiy into GTR wide body if got chance), really attracted by the look so much, especially the taillight of the r34 version, just so hard to resist it. So now i will just see wat others ppl say about the it, just getting some feedback =)

Hi Drifter,
Ya... i just red through almost half the fast & furious forum, notice there are quite a number of such similar thread but on different model la... The reason behind for starting such thread mayb because someone need a little encouragement, motivation n positive feedback, at least tat the reason for me starting the thread. Actually is quite fun also la, can read others ppl opinion, their ideas, chatting around. So hope to see u giving more feed back on this topic too, cya.

I have a cousin who did brought R34 GT-T. He said the most he can churned from the engine is just 300hp, that's 20hp from the original. Also need to change oil frequently if always full throttle, which means the oil easily become so thin like water after excessive drive. He said the engine block of RB25 is so thin not like RB26, which not much engine bore can be done to up the engine displacement.

So my advice if you just wanna use standard engine without modding it just go for GT-T...if not get GT-R so you have lot's of options to increase the power.. laugh.gif

do some research before posting.........all these years i've been playing RB engines, and this is the first post i've read that anyone have said "most he can churn from the engine is just 300hp"..................

just a simple boost up and piggyback ECU for the RB25det can extract more than 300whp.......with a good intake and exhaust and a bigger FMIC, bigger AFM, boost up and piggyback, u will be looking at minimum 350whp.........and i'm talking wheel horse power not bhp

changing oil is normal for turbo engines, if u don't know how to take care of the engine, just don't buy it.

the thing is 'worth' for rich or poor?

if the poor, i think r34 gt should be more than enough..(based on the price also the fuel hike in malaysia)

then the rich people, i think r34 GT not so worth for them..why?
they have lots of $$$ like the TS..

if 'garis langit' is your choise..then go for GTR r34 NUR V-spec 11...satisfaction? YES..

I think R34 GTT now cost only RM120k - RM140k for a used car or recond...

For TS, Its a worth buy actually, and spend around RM10K u can done ur full conversion to GTR outlook..
With this RB series engine there are many potential mod can be done to tune up ur car to at least 400-500bhp.. These r definitely better than those stock R34GTR... I saw many taiwan magazine that they tune this RB25 with single turbo till 500bhp easily, provided u have to $$... hehe.. There r many potential for this RB25, is just about whether u have enough cash to mod it...

geee.. I just knew that RB25's engine block have 'thin' wall. Why bore if you can stroke it?

Very well said. nod.gif

The 25 is not too shabby at all. You could push it to hi 400 with tweaks and tunings. Hi 500 will come with stroker kit of course.

A side note, RB engines needs proper cooling. Good free air flow inside the engine bay to make sure the engine is getting the needed cool breeze. Its a 6 cylinder, what do you expect? The water travels from front to back of the engine and it takes time to reach the radiator hence the 'fragileness' with heat. tongue.gif

If I were you (thread starter), I'd take a GTT as well. Could'nt afford GTR just yet. GTR (R34) are expensive. They are priced sub 300K for a coupe 9 years old. Buying a GTR is no easy task. If you aren't that well versed with the GTR, easily 'kena potong' by the car dealer. Last production of GTR R34 was 2002. Any later than 2002 is a fake. Unless its a Z-Tune which ofcourse, I dont think you can get your hands on any of the limited 20 units. wink.gif

Oh ya, if you are doing the GTT -> GTR exterior conversion, make sure to get a proper fitments of wheels for the car after the surgery. Get some 9.5" for the rears and 8" for the fronts and your call will look good. nod.gif

Age of 21 gettin a Skyline R34 GTR not easy le unless u really have a very rich dad also...lol,maybe u stick to your GTT version la,120-140k for a 9 year old car, worth it or not,u decide, think bro...buy 1st lo,later feel not good enough for u then change again lo...u're TS son ma(just joking)...dun tink of doing conversion have to cut here & there on your car,u not heart pain meh,if u really love your car ,u potong here & there will effect its chassis too,u won't do this to your car lo,original stay original, but may consider upgrade the bodykit or GT wing, also bear in mind,R34 or RB engine really a damn thirsty car for petrol...cheers

Thanks for all the feedback guys =)
i think i hav a clear mind now, since i don't race nor fancy with top speed, gt-t shud b fine with me. And also the gt-t version comes with a auto transmission gear box, they call it tiptronic right, i prefer auto than manual, hehe... Well, u see... since after getting my license during the driving test, i hav nv driven a manual car, so if i were to drive a manual r34, i'm afraid i might not able to control it properly. For safety reason, auto suits me better, haha... Some of u might think tat i'm from a rich family but i hav tell frankly, nope... my family r not rich. Because now me n my family r progressing in our business, i believe 1 day i can achieve my goal, to own a skyline r34, so now just exercising my dream til the day it comes true ^^

Thanks eito, a good encouragement for me. Guess v hav our own personal liking. It's best if a car combine looks n power at the same time, my required performance of the engine is simple, as long the skyline can produced stock bhp will do, around 280bhp is more than enough to beat a guy to the next traffic light, haha. Though the look of a r34 gt-t is a bit plain but the price is okay, can just modified in GTR facelit, already start planning for my future skyline biggrin.gif

*
and since when the GTT to GTR conversion you need to cut the chassis? Its pure "cosmetics" conversion. Cosmetics as in, replacing the front face-lift with GTR parts (side fenders, hood, bumper and headlights) and the rear parts with enlarged rear fenders and GTR's rear bumper and youre all done. There is no chassis cutting needed. Where do you get that info from? huh.gif

Heck, even putting R34s facelift onto an R33 is just pure cosmetics.

I can say that Ferrari's engine is a damn thirsty car for petrol as well.

My point is, doesnt matter what car or what engine is it, talking about fuel consumption only when you have a very bad controlling your throttle pedal. Even though you drive a Kelisa with very bad throttle control, it will be even more thirstier than a bigger car.

Not forcing but invite u to certain meet up then tell u wat's their intention at last minutes. They dun ask u to sell more things nowadays instead they encourage more ppl to join in as a member 1st(as u tarik 1 member in(have to buy a package tat involved 1k to 3k) gain more points, then 2nd ,third & etc, tat's faster than u sell their products to individual). It's type of money & brainwashed games nowadays but it's not a bad idea cause u can meet many interesting ppl there.Millionaire?yes, there's some are successful but I can say 5-10% of your MLM member does it each year.nobody no's when is our turn,u need a bit of luck whether u can make it or not too.But dun put too much faith on it.the money u earn frm MLM,keep it,spend the money u earn from your full-time job.

Geee, from the posts in the 1st 3 pages, i wonder even half of the posters know what they are talking about, and even half of them posted actually drives a R34 GTT. RB25 cant churn out more power? The GTT cant drift well? and yada yada yada? Come on, give me a break. Do you guys even know that the S15 6-speed gearbox is kinda fragile if to be compare with the GTT or GTR gearbox? rolleyes.gif

TS Said "HE DON"T MIND IF HE HAS ALOT OF MONEY", he did not say he has alot of money, please Read properly guys... He is giving himself a time to reach his target and is asking for opinion. I believe this is a genuine thread.

Skyline GT-T is good enough, all you need is to remove the speed limit and it's a great car. It's still a good car now, but don't know how many years you are giving yourself. Maintenance cost will be high due to the big turbos. Parts will be expensive compared to Evolutions as they are rarer.

Price differs alot for GT-R & GT-T, unless you have that extra cash or hardcore fan GT-T is good. Since you are a Skyline fan, I wouldn't bother comparing other cars.

But the new Skyline V36 2.5 NA, abeit lost it's traditional senses is a nicer looking car. It only has 220hp and not as sporty but it's a Skyline so I recommend it if you can find one. But it would probably cost more than a GT-R.

The main problems with sports cars is the high maintenance cost. Most of the famous JDM sports cars are good enough each having their own characters. Except the Mazda 8, other than it's looks, doesn't have any character at all. Sorry Mazda 8...

*P.S: Go for the manual version. Sports cars are meant for manual. or Dual Clutch for modern ones. Saves more fuel too!

(BTW nice Skyline tailview sig)

*
You would be surprise if the GTT cost much lesser to maintain than an Evo in the long run. Parts are cheaper too, and no, its not rare. rolleyes.gif

would like to know, does any1 of u know is it easy to find replacement gearbox for the auto version, especially it's using the tiptronic technology. Just afraid after so many yrs on the road, 1 day the auto gear might suddenly break down.

I know the theory of wear and tear behind the trashing of mechanism but if you wanna make comparison among the nissan. The 6-speed from S15 aint that strong coz its developed under Nissan while the 6-speed in the GTR is from Getrag. Cheers. smile.gif

Dude I believe before buying it's a good thing to know about aftermarket parts. You don't wanna buy a Volvo to find out later that the suspension cost 10k right?

Try be more helpful.

Nissan parts are everywhere? Are they interchangeable?

What about new car parts like GT-R, Infinity & Fuga?

What about Nissan President?

Sorry I always though only local officially available models have many parts. Time to get a Nissan!

You thought wrong.

Im referring to the GTT. Be it aftermarket or spareparts. Many of them are interchangeable with the lower generation of Skyline's.

Turn off the sarcasm. yawn.gif

I understand that, but if you have read the whole thread, TS is having a vision to get the GTT thru his business in MLM. Now i am not trying to attack him personally or the ideology of MLM, but i can guess he doesnt have the budget now thru his posts. So why dont he wait till he has the actual budget and intention to get the car? and i guess its not too late to open another similar thread by then. No point we are being helpful if he cant afford one yet. Although i know its good to dream or set a goal for owning such sportscar. Aftermarket parts for JDM sportscars aint cheap, that is for sure. smile.gif

I think even in Japan R32 GT-R ain't cheap too. Cheaper than here but not as cheap as imagined. Same goes for Toyota MK-II Type 90 & Type 100, Chaser etc. Seems these cars have achieved some sort of status in Japan.

Sorry guys didn't bother to read the full thread but it ain't that bad making money out of MLM to buy a Sports Car. As long as you work hard I guess...

R34 GTT Arm for RM90, IMO any parts that can be bought for RM90 for such a car is dirt cheap! Even the gear knob cost more!

Nobody has the right to tell you off on how you earn your money, =P but just keep in mind that GTT will always be the at lower end of most performance vehicle =) nevertheless it will be great car to own. GL smile.gif

to answer your question short, it is never worth to buying any sports car rclxms.gif (but get it if you really like it :evil grin: )

You'll be surprised sometimes how cheap this JDM cars parts are. Even the Toyota Altezza's front new wheel bearing per side is around RM150, while Jazz's rear wheel bearing easily cost close to RM300 per side from HM. sweat.gif

mylpjsmy, GTT or S15 I think you can decide without asking the people here. Your signature and avatar ready tells me which one you favours more. smile.gif

The GTT is a great car and to say it's a poor man's GT-R is kind of an insult. If you own a GT-R and gives out that statement, then I've nothing to say but if otherwise........

mylpjsmy, you can check out this site for an owner' insight into owning a GTT: http://er34.blogspot.com/

Have fun and hope you get your GTT soon.

dear TS, to be honest..it is your money and hence you should judge yourself whether it is worth it or not. After all, you are the one who will be owning it.
