oppo brand was built on the foundation of their bargain basement DVD players that it provides on par / or above par DVD playback performance with the jap/korean brands without paying those premium associated with these brands..

but now they are in the premium price bracket? that's not really for me.. biggrin.gif

yes I agree what oppo strength is midrange prices for upmarket performance, so it should be price closer to USD299 (mid range) not USD499 (upper range)..
with USD99 players being at the low end of the price spectrum..

I think I'll take the dune if the prices are the same... more functionality for similar prices is no brainer..

BD.iso is a thousand dollar feature.. so if same price.. worth to get..

besides, as with the PS3, I'm sure you won't want to kill the lens of the Oppo faster by playing normal DVDs rite?

as least the PS3 lens could be replace locally at several hundred.. dunno oppo's one takes how long to replace and how much.. if kong.. biggrin.gif

you will still get true HD/DTS-MA sound via your AMP.. (if your BD player can decode it and send it via Analog to the amp inputs)

the quality will depend on the analog circuits in your BDP and AVR lor and the cables you use.. but it'll probably never acheive the same 100% results of even a cheapo HDMI cable, digital connection..
