Bean bean is acting very sluggish all the sudden, sleeping in the wheel...sticking her head out a bit looking all so sad.

Is she sick? Poo is still pellet shape but I think a bit soft.

I'll be leaving for 4 days...should I stop smoothie for a while? I usually give 1 teaspoon of crystals.

Maybe should give less.

I am back home from my trip to KB.

My dad's been giving smoothie but he go and filter the water away doh.gif
Back to usual regiment by tomorrow, or maybe I'll stop smoothie for a day.

Her coat improved a TON! Look for yourself.

This picture not so good...but as you can see a lot of the fur is back rclxms.gif

This is her disapproving picture, trying to compete with bunnies

And here are the top and face shots of day 10 of smoothie. She changed a lot
After 4 more days, I'll submit to Nezu's competition....don't forget me, k?

Bean is a she, by the way. No bola so sure of it smile.gif

by the way, I noticed her bottom very yellow and the tail area is oily. It looks wet but it doesn't feel wet. Much hair loss too...weather's been hot so she was probably sweating.

Also, another thing...we have too many Omega 3 and 6 tablets, so we thought of mixing it with the smoothie. Human grade tablets can be used or not? Scared have presevatives and the like...

My plants didn't fare well in the hot weather. the little coriander seedlings died, and almost mati also alot of them.

Only recently i learned that you can't grow coriander without its first few weeks below 15Cs doh.gif

So I'm giving up on coriander, will try to grow other things....

Eh, I see suspicious looking cedar shavings....are they cedar or aspen? Aspen is fine but cedar=bad. Must change out to aspen, corn cob, or carefresh newspaper pallets.

Pine...I'm not sure. Some people said the ones in malaysia are klin dried which destroyed most of the phenols so can be used...but preferbly I'll stay away though.

Cedar is very bad because of the phenol oils, which causes respitory problems. Like, life threatening kinds in the long run so you really should not use it despite waht all the pet stores tell you.

Rule of the thumb, stay away from anything that uses softwood.

And what is the dry feed you're giving?

Ah? Where are you from?

If you're still dissatisfied with their stock, you can order online from Pet shack's website.

http://www.petshack.com.my/

They can only mail dry goods, so you need to be there to get it if you want a try of Nezu's famous smoothie.

My hamster is looking very sad lately, likes to lie in the wheel with the eyes semi open.

Is this a normal behaviour? She'd stare for a long, long time....

Bored or resting? She doesn't seem to like being handled, always try to run away. Pretty hard to fully tame even with treats

bump? what bump? You mean the stump? She only had 3 legs. When I touch her, she's completely smooth. The bump is probably the missing leg.

I admit yeah, she looks pretty old... and I thought hamsters have pinkish skin all the while! O_o

I got this hamster from someone else...so I really don't know the specifics sad.gif
I didn't see any bumps...the strand of brown thing is hay.

by the way, of course I don't plan to breed her. I have no space for the babies tongue.gif. I am just wondering why is my little hamster looks so differently from the rest.

Since she is old, I better prepare a pot as her grave...

I'm not sure if it's ok but I don't want to bury them in the carpark...become meals for animals only.

I thought that I should bury my pets close to home with a plant growing on top. what pot size is suitable? You know, sanitary reasons and things like that.

P.S She was born with 4 then one day it srivelled up and died. That is what I was told, no details of how it actually got injured and dropped off though

Aww blush.gif thanks for the comments about the housing and care. I was wondering if I am really doing the best sometimes. She prefers my parents over me. I tried catching her once and she squeaked really loud. since then don't dare to catch anymore.

Not to mention she used to nibble my hand, but not my parents.

And whenever I clean her cage...hevok. She gets scared outside the cage so she would always get traumatized. sad.gif

BTW if the leg just shrivelled and fell off, then it most probably is a genetic disease. More like a genetic defect. I've seen inbred robos born with 4 legs but ended up having 2 back legs lame after a certain age (no accidents involved. And luckily not mine. sweat.gif )

I think your WW is not used to your scent. You don't handle her as often as your parents? My hamsters are tamest when I handle them because I handle them to most. It applies for both syrians and robos so I think i applies to all hamsters.

When you catch her, scoop her up with 2 hands. Or train her to jump into your hand. If a fully tamed hamster has 10 points, chasing them all over the tank with your hand trying to catch them reduces trust point down by 2 or 3.  tongue.gif I'm lazy to scoop them one by one (my robos back then) so I train them to jump on my hand in a whole group. The I just lift and deposit them in a spare tank while I clean their tank.

And yes, I think you're very kind to adopt a hamster with special needs and only has 3 legs. I said pink skin because hamsters (normal ones) have fur dense enough to cover their skin. Inbred robos have pink skin (in the sense that I can see the skin beneath the fur just by looking. In other words, fur too little).
*
Whenever I try to scoop her up with two hands she runs away before she does. My mom uses one hand and then kinda...donno it's done with a little bit of a flip. My dad can catch her also, but whenever I try to scoop she is too fast. If it is too fast on my end, she might get scared and nip me also.

I've been trying to train her to climb on my hand but the only time she does that is if there is food. She usually ignores the hand once there's no food.

Maybe mecause my hands tend to be cold, she don't like ^^;;

Her continition improve a lot sinceI first met her. So oily, so scraggly shocking.gif

Nezu's smoothie to the recue. Took me so long to find it sad.gif

No no I'm not saying that you're a bad owner, but it's a nice play of puns.

Button mushroom eating button mushroom, it's an inheritenly funny thought.
