I think its causes by the driver.Because the driver cannot stabilize the Idle for the systems. If there is Power Play is enabled(which need driver to stabilize it),the power could be low as 55W.

nope, dont u notice the 4850 card idled at a lower frequency of 500/1500 compared to load 625/1986, that suggest powerplay is working, but the fact is that 4870 consumes as much power as a gtx 280 on load,
so, for average person's rig with sub 550w psu, 4870 cf is out of the picture

Isnt the Idle is much lower?= = I thought its 150/500 if PowerPlay Features is enabled.
The PowerPlay Feature is there, but the driver does not fully use it.

why don u try mass effect..
ive been getting sub 30 fps on max details @ 1680x1050 with 8x aniso 4x aa with my card running @ 675/2000
i think 4850 should be getting higher than this as the 3870 fps is even higher than mine if im not mistaken sweat.gif

I just installed 4870 x 2 yesterday..

This morning i woke up, I realised that the display didn't want to startup. I am wondering what is the problem.

My theory is that the GPU is too hot that it went pass the threshold. Because the fan is blowing like mad to cool down the card. In addition to that, after i switched on the aircond (thanx TNB), and the room cools down to about 20++ degrees, the machine startup fine.

Any thoughts ppl?

dont flash at the moment yet... wait for more big shot cards to come out with better bios then decide to flash... at the moment just use the CCC profile to edit the fan speed to 22@ to maybe 40-50%. What card u using? 4850 or 4870? how is the Mars board? i miss that board....

XF consume more power and generate more heat generally... make sure your psu have enough juice to power the 2 monster..... temp is important too because it affects your whole entire system including the CPU which is temp sensitive... providedyour air ventilation is efficient enough...

ill wait for the bios of the oced 4850 to be released 1st, because factory oced cards bios comes with a modified vgpu values,
the stock vgpu for 4850 is 1.2v in 3d mode if im not mistaken which is too low in my book and that's why my 4850 gpu cant be oced higher than 675 mhz sweat.gif

basically all coolers that can fit 3870 can fit 4850, but artic accelero s1 is the recommended hsf due to its performance and price, and yes ur psu can handle a single 4870 but not 4870 cf
