As my experience goes normally when the student pass their paper they will wholly claim it as their self effort, hardwork, perseverance.....  yawn.gif
When they failed they will start blaming everything else (apart from themselves) starting from the lecturer, then lack of time, insufficient notes.....  yawn.gif .

I have been to viknes class before & i can objectively say he wish the student all the best for exam (He has spent half n hour in 2 sessions telling the student not to fail & study hard). Whenever i asked questions he will also replied politely. Yeah you can call him pervert, arrogant.....but that does not distrupt the study isn't it.

However there are 1 supposed to be top lecturer which i cannot reveal (for safety reasons from his fans). I have a friend from sunway who attended his class & this lecturer is  not motivated to teach, impatient, reacts badly to question being asked, scold student if unable to conjure up with the answer...... (now this is what you should complained about) I don't think anyone should criticise someone else personal attitude or behaviour but on their performance of the lecture.  flex.gif

hi there,i am studying in sunway,i am interested in which lecturer are u refering to??can u tell me through pm so that i can avoid his class..thanks

I dont think he meant that the lecturer is from sunway. The only "top lecturer" is ms. menon so far, and I think she is very motivated to teach. Just that like to scold alot, but to the whole class as general, haha. Most probably that top lecturer referred to are from other centres.

And not many "he" lecturer in Sunway though. Maybe in CAT level, but as I'm not from CAT, I wouldnt know. But so far, lecturers in Sunway are quite friendly, maybe some inexperience, but still approachable smile.gif. (I used to kacao most of the lecturers by asking alot questions.) tongue.gif
*
ya i do agree ms menon always scold the whole class, but she is still the best p2 lecturers from what i think...even many other lecturers also said the same thing..

hmm..cat "he" is only mr akhbar,mr bill,mr tan,mr jana,new male lecturer i am not so sure..erm..i thought acca has more guy lecturer than cat?mr goh,mr marcus(left),mr michael,mr dinesh(ms menon's brother),mr simon,....who else i miss out??oh ya..now professor choong kwai fatt too is in sunway...

QUOTE(Topace111 @ Jan 14 2009, 04:02 PM)
It is not that this lecturer is not good but already fallen from grace. What i mean he "used to be very good" but circumstances in late have downgrade his performance (like roger federer the tennis star). Ok la he is not at sunway & not from CAT.

I think even some of his co-lecturer don't think highly of him "anymore". Maybe my friend is over sensitive but he feels KSA students don't like when people ask questions in class (maybe bcos of interrruption ??). I always had a theory when come to asking questions :
1) If you are clever and ask too many question = you are arrogant
2) If you are not so clever and ask too many question = you are unintelligent
These perceptive is in the eyes of other students so maybe KSA students don't like to ask question to their lecturer (I don't know ??? tongue.gif ) but i see most sunway students did. I prefer a livelier class than a deadwood class.  yawn.gif

I always uncertain whether to ask parmindar in class bcos
- i always sit at the back
- there is around 250 - 300 people in the class
- its too quiet when he is talking (it spooks me out since these students are deadly serious = intimidation)
Er i am not refering parmindar as that lecturer (he is quite a nice guy, normally i reserved my question during break time or after class)

Actually i am very curious how sunway can instill that "thirst of knowledge / curiosity" to you guys studying in sunway ?
*
most sunway lecturers love their student to ask more questions, many lecturers will always ask "any questions?" or "can understand?" etc after teaching a particular topic...many student will ask their question during break time or after class, they will stay back and answer them one by one which i think is quite good actually..some lecturer like ms joyce even ask the students to call her and arrange a session with her only ask question

Haha, and one thing, most sunway students, will take all subjects in Sunway. So faces are very familiar, thus not really scary to open mouth and ask questions.
*
ya i agree most sunway student will continue their papers in sunway only,i always wonder why some ppl have so many question to ask..haha..i guess only smart ppl will ask more question, correct me if i am wrong.. tongue.gif

Emm not exaclty true since i have saw quite a large number opt out of certain classes like audit, finance, performance management......etc.
I think its easy to stick to one college for convenience purpose (who wouldn't ?) but not everything is perfect you see  tongue.gif .
Normally i ask because i want to know more (practical experience...).
The only lecturer which eludes me is Haneef at Mco, he can really blast of the details to a whole new level. He can spent entire day on just 2 page of notes. At the end i cannot find anything more to ask, he always give 200%
*
i strongly agree that student from sunway should go to other college if comes to paper like F8 if the lecturer is ms Kxxxx ....she just read and read and read her notes.. doh.gif ..

finance paper i am not sure ,is f9 ?..the f9 class that i attend in sunway has about 300 student in a class last time,i find the lecturer ok ok only..can understand what she say la..but..haha..no comment.

Sunway.. I like best is P2,P3(ex-lecturer),P7.. Others so so only..P5 cannot say yet, because still new..

But hey, my friend told me that alot people starting to register at INTI. Mainly due to Mr.Marcus. Many was under him during F8(he tought for 1 sitting), and they liked his style and would try P1 and P3 under him.

For those who just can't get through F8 after countless attempt, try Marcus, might help abit with different style smile.gif.

Ohya, for those in KSA, or McO, if lets say a student never take any papers there before, is there any requirement to pay new student fees? (For resource fees i understand there wouldnt be any or not substantial, because they dun provide library or other facilities.)

But if theres requirement to pay new student fees or deposits, how much is it?
*
p2 ms menon,p3 marcus,p7 mr goh right??did u try p1 in sunway under mr goh??i am under him last sem,i think he is quite good lo,but i heard his p7 is much better right??

i heard from my friend say mr marcus is ok,but she dont really like his notes..not sure..p3 this sem is handle by ms menon's brother,mr dinesh,i wonder whether he is as good as ms menon..but i under ms wong and i think she is not bad too..

for sunway student,if u have alternative for f8 lecturer, just go for it.. the the female lecturer for f8 is really not good...

Added on January 15, 2009, 1:53 amdid u attend p4 mr michael??i plan to take p4 next sem..but not sure how good is he..

Hi guys, my friends and I sort of got picked by my college to take up the ICAEW program, what do you guys got to say about that? Working in audit firm and doing ICAEW at the same time, I opened a thread here to discuss about it

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/908974

My family has been discouraging me so strongly and wants me to finish ACCA, but me on the other hand, feels like taking up the course, but I do not know much about studying ICAEW and working at the same time, so hope you guys can tell me more. Better still if some of you who are working in audit firms can share your experience on your colleagues who are doing this program manage it, if they are any

Thanks

She was my T5 lecturer, I have to say, a very good lecturer. I would have scored better marks in the exam if not for the examiner asking the only topic that she did not cover LOL
*
i have came across this decision making dilemma when i was waiting for the cat results last year.i guess u are like me a sunway student who got the offer from BDO and deloitte..i have came accross this and my final decision is to decline this offer although i have gotten the offer letter from both the firm, delottie is being so angry at my decision and one of the director in BDO,one of the partner(dato gan), the HR manager in deloitte and a sunway person actually called me up to ask me about it...i am not sure why are they so desperate of getting new ppl to their icaew course...but this is kinda surprise me when they called me..

i am sure mr teo or whoever promoting this course will tell u all something like icaew is easier than acca for the first few papers and icaew has higher privilege than acca in the world or something like acca is just qualified accountant in UK where as icaew enable u to become a qualified chartered accountant in UK..and etc etc..however if u have any uncle or aunty in accouting or audit field, ask them for opinion, they will tell u the practical problem that u will face

a few of my friend who took the offer is now suffering in BDO working til mid night almost everyday, one of their father who chat with me said that his daughter work til 1am morning sometimes without any OT allowance...and by the time she reach home is already 2am,and slp for few hours,7am early morning have to wake up prepare for work again, then saturday and sunday will go to sunway to attend classes for icaew, for ur information,ms menon is teaching icaew too..if u can accept this kind of life for 5 years,ya u can go for it..definitely u will have higher pay compare to acca students after u graduate becoz u will have 5 yrs working experience compare to others..

my advise is that if u are really interested in working as an auditor and can stand the pressure for 5 years,u can consider about it,and if u plan to work oversea, then it will be good to have icaew too,but if u plan to work local in malaysia, then acca+mba(maybe) will be more than sufficient for u to achieve high pay and possess high post in a company...
