As cool as they are but RM1k++ for something that we can't even play with, well not my cup of tea.

I will stick with 12' figure.

I'm sure there are many statue collectors in asia too, just not as high profile online.

HK actor Louis Khoo is also a hardcore collector.

For those of you who would like to know about this statue, is that it is an 18" figurine of the Hero Character "Tychus Findlay", an ex-con released as a Terran Marine for the upcoming hit Blizzard game, Starcraft 2.

Opened, he looks like this:

In terms of limited editions, mostly dependent on company.

For SIDESHOW, GENTLE GIANT, CINEMAQUETTE, ATTAKUS, their stuff are limited.

For KOTOBUKIYA, HOT TOYS, etc., their stuff may or may not be limited editions.

But still in Malaysia's limited market, everything is limited .... in terms of supply .... even HASBRO!

Hellboy 2: Angel of Death 1:1 Life-Sized Bust

user posted image
user posted image

Sideshow is proud to bring you the Angel of Death Life-size Bust, an authentic full-scale representation of the ruler of Bethmora from Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Each piece is hand-cast in high quality polystone, hand finished and hand numbered for authenticity. Capturing the eyeless Angel of Death, this eerily life-like recreation is sure to be the centerpiece of any Hellboy II collection.

Summoned to Earth to be the harbinger of destruction, an infant demon is instead found by a group of elite American soldiers, who name him Hellboy. Taken to America and raised by Dr. Broom, Hellboy is made a member of the B.P.R.D. (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense), and with his Right Hand of Doom and a lot of attitude, he helps fight the forces of evil that seek to destroy the world!
When rebellious creatures from the underworld launch an attack on humanity, Hellboy and his team at the B.P.R.D. must fight to once again save the world. Traveling to the underworld, Hellboy faces the Angel of Death, an eyeless being with an ominous eyeless visage, ruler of the dead realm of Bethmora. Armed with supernatural abilities and an arsenal of paranormal weapons, including his latest gun - the 'Big Baby', Hellboy leads the charge to defend humanity against these mythical invaders.

thanks for your reply bro... i search in ebay before... and that will be the last place i get the item from.... cos you'll need to go all the way to pos office malaysia next to lcct to pay for the tax and claim your item there if the item you bought is more than rm500(includes shipping cost)... and i tried that before... quite slow and troublesome... need to go through almost every department in the pos office... will try to get from local shop or seller if possible... save hassle...

You can try asking ebay sellers if they are willing to underdeclare, before bidding. Worth a try.

I also like Bowen stuff, but very rare in Malaysia. Maybe singapore got more chance

Not going to be picky about MJ. If that statue does reach public distribution, I'd be happy. So far, that's a one-off piece.

A room itself can hold a lot a lot a lot of stuff.

Yes buy it in Malaysia. Some shop kinda screw up my pre-order so I had to pay more. Kinda scouted around for months.

RM1900 on ebay right? Try to renegotiate with the seller. Maybe can get it around RM1K though. Still has to pay premium for it though since it is originally costs around RM600-RM700.

XL postponing? Always thought XL is the earliest to do preorders or bring stuff in before anyone else.

Not to worry though, kotobukiya stuff is not as limited as others, can slowly find in stores soon enough, otherwise go singapore sure can find.

Locally, no.... perorderd mine on Hobby Search, but canceled mostly because of the unprecedented hike in Yen and partially because of the poor quality of Yamato's retail pieces. Play-Asia had Dorian's statue for preorder very early on(July/August), but later pull back and was never available for order even till now, hopefully it will be in stock sometime soon. I have no idea which local store has ordered her in...

p.s. HLJ has her too...

Hi Guys, newbie here in Lowyat forum. I'm collecting Gunda kits but recently I got interested in statue. Unfortunately, these statues are quiet expensive. However due to careful planning and budgetting rclxms.gif I was able to buy a 1:2 bust of Alex Ross inspired Superman. This is a custom bust and very original.

Below that is comiquettes, busts and dioramas

can i say marquette is above premium format in terms of quality and price? or they are totally different class and cannot be compare. I heard marquette is normally in small scale (big in size), is that true?

how about Exclusive Version? example, jurassic park T-rex vs raptors diorama, Exclusive Version got extra banner (When Dinosaur Ruled The Earth), while the normal version is without the banner?

Are there any LOTR collectors active here? I used to collect a bit, but have now stopped. Kinda waiting for The Hobbit to see if there's anything interesting. I hope Sideshow maintains continuity without shaking things too much. I just love those polystone statues from Sideshow Weta last time.

I have a few LOTR pieces from gentle giant animated series, sideshow (ringwraith LSB) and some from weta (Moghul Lord, Battle troll, Gandalf on shadowfax, Aragorn at black gates, Legolas/gimli on Arod)

So far, haven't bought any sideshow premium formats of LOTR ... somehow don't click with me.

Ultimate Toys and Shiok Toys have been reliable for me so far even thought I almost stopped collecting since a couple of years ago.

is Ultimate Toys' shop at Amcorp Mall? If yes, i have been there a few times, the guy there (i don't know whether he is the owner or not) seems a bit Lansi, maybe it's just me. Example i asked a few questions, he seems inpatient to answer and not even look at me. *sigh*, i may dress like a beggar, but doesnt mean i dont have a hole to burn in my pocket.

I also pointed to some statues asking him what's the price, he arrogantly reply: "not for sale, for display only", come on, at least he can put up some label showing For Display Only.

the eyes lashes really not nice rclxub.gif

still a noob in buying from international sites. so prefer to buy locally.

for touch of ice, there is not mention of the scale, just that 6" tall. I really hope it will be the same scale as Medusa. hmm.gif

Next comparison in hot discussion would be the hulkbuster.

Mini review on Yamato's Golden Lover....

The eye lash is also a problem with my copy.... however she is very small, so not so obvious..... she stands at 20.5 cm (22cm to the top of the flames/fins)...

Her eyes-lids/eye shadow have shiny/sparkly paint applied.

She is about a full 1/8 scale (with 20.5 cm height)...

has a metal peg on the left leg that inserts to the shiny base.

her entire body and head is a single mould with the exception of the left arm.

The dragon have a few part breaks, not hidden very well, an obvious one is one near her foot.

Hmm.....will ask some of my friend if they want to sell their Thor PF. I got it at RM 1100 only...I think now, minimum is about 1300, if people want to sell. I collect some comiquettes too.....cash is one problem, space is another problem.....PF statues takes up lots of space. did you collect comiquette too?
I have some Bowen mini statues and I want to sell them....do you have any friends collecting mini statues or bust? or do you? smile.gif

I will definately go for the Wolvie PF, even tho it is not so nice as I thought it would be.....but, what the hack, its a PF...LOL... i got 6 comiquettes preordered for next year...

I hope i could find one Captain America PF at good price.....one day......

by the way, who is the collector? any other statues he have?

Nice piece....yours is the exclusive version....mine is the normal...I prefer the normal one because with extra head to change, don't know where to keep when displaying the statue.. I have Thor PF and that's all.....will get the new Wolvie PF too

i came back with air plane.....got only one item.....custom just ask what it is and let me pass....but i m in Penang air port...dont know about others...but i heard if you come back by bus, then you have big problems....if you get PF statues, the size of the the thing, i think its better if you take only one.....i got it from a seller, not shop.....
what do you want to buy from SG??? normally i go to simply toys ....i m thinking of buying the black spidey....
*

*
Thor for 1100 is a good price...

My friends and I are mainly into 12"

The collector is from another forum, doubt he has any good statues left...

Ya, somehow singapore has better secondary market because maybe their money is bigger (nearly 2.5 of ours).

Philippines .... easy .... air asia mah.... got free ticket promotion summore.

Problem with KL market, is that sellers won't bring in extra stock. They only bring in based on preorders. That's why secondary market is sleepy and no extra stock.

As for our local forums, not much ... just xlshop and toyniama.com.my..... and of cos, lowyat here. rclxms.gif

Ya, filipinos' collections are out of this world, especially the famous Yexel and darth ryan. I hope to go that part of the world in future. Their toy community is very close knitted and united.

Nice haul pics, mywii and buggygil. Hope to see more pics.

I'm quite interested because it's a nice dio unlike many others in the past eg. psylocke, submariner, punisher, etc.

Will think about it. The only dislike is the base, which is too big/bulky compared to the figures.

So what did you preorder?

That's a nice diorama indeed. I haven't bought any dio statue before ... missed out on Huk vs spiderman, the only one I liked.

This one has potential.

That's a nice list of preorders, buggygil. Direct from Sideshow or local shop? If sideshow, at least can cancel.

Ofcourse I am not ordering directly from Sideshow. You guys know the shipping cost is killing. I got all my statues from Shioktoys.
Well, I do love comiquettes rather than maquettes, but I still choose characters, and only Marvel. I missed out Black queen statue preorder, that's why I didn't have it sad.gif
Still thinking to get Ironman Comiquette.

Well, my statues all are still in box. I am moving to new house next year, so I don't want to unpack and repack the statues. My room is now half loaded with statues and toys. Will try to get some photos to show.

I have only 2 dios. The X-men vs sentinal #3 and Thor vs Loki. That's all I got, because I got it cheap.I also love the Hulk vs Spidey. But when the dio is released, I am still not into statue, which makes me regret for not buying it till now. I love Hulk PF too and Cap America. People not selling those at soooooooooooooooooooooooo expensive. Almost bought the planet hulk vs silver dio, but after looking at the real piece in shops, decided to let it go.
Well, I guess if you like the dio, you better go for it. I think its nice too, but just not into these character

Elektra White is a special edition just for the Sideshow Black Friday sales - limited edition. Elektra Red is generally available - easier to get.

How much is it? Hard to say. It looks quite nice tho, to be honest. But I am staying put on Marvel's only. Just pre-ordered Wolvie PF. Hope its going to be great. Going to pre-order Sabertooth PF too, when its available, to pair up both.

So you travel all the time down to KL to pick when there is a release? I have trouble with that. Toonshoppe, I don't really go there much now. As you know, the price is quite expensive.

Ouch.. !!!! Jean Grey !!! I had 3 Jean's already (Bowen Jean Grey Jim Lee, Bowen Black Queen Jean Grey, Sideshow Jean Grey) ... Must stop thinking about her. Don't ask how and why I got them - supposed to come in different sequences but all came at once.

Toonshoppe : http://toonshoppe.net/ Pricing, I think it is the same. Anyway ordered local since can support the local business-mar.

I got a friend in KL, so I can ask him to pick it up for me like the DC Direct Adam Hughes DC CoverGirls I ordered from Mind Shop. Still waiting for Black Canary to fly in. As for Shiktoys, I think the shipping is free.

Ouch..

Which covergirls you bought? Mind shop have website to view? You order from US as well? I used to buy Bowen's statue from US.

Hehe.. I kinda contacted Alex @ Mindshop to pre-order the 3 items (guess which one?). DC Covergirls has several statues :-

1. Black Canary
2. Zatanna
3. Wonder Woman
4. Power Girl
5. Harley Quinn
6. Catwoman
7. Poison Ivy

Website of DC : http://www.dccomics.com/dcdirect/?cat=STATUES

PM to me if you want Alex's email address.

Is there a price difference if using mind shop or kinokuniya? They charge markup right?

Not sure about Kino, you got to ask. The tentative pricing is USD 99-99, so considering the FOREX at 3.60 it would be RM360-00. But then, I bet the price they purchased should be lower say 20-30%, so there should be substantial margin to earn from.

RM500-00 without shipping, it will be collected by my friend with the balance payment.

Ouch! You hurt my feelings buggygil... on that. biggrin.gif

Probably you need to look at the centre pose or lower view, as the pic is viewing from bottom up.

LOL...Sorry about that bro...I look at some of her photos in eBay...Don't get me wrong, the pose and everything is great...Just that the way the sculpt the look, comparing to black canary and zatana......they look sexy. Hoestly, Powergirl looks not bad too....you should get all of them to complete your collection, include catwoman.
Still, 500 is quite a good price. Will try to bid on eBay and see how much I can get for black canary.

Can't order direct from US or Singapore shops?

Really, the shipping cost is a killer, even from Singapore. So,normally I will bid for lower than retail price. 20-30%, don't think that much la. 10-20% maybe....Probably they got more margin on PVCs. Example, I saw re-ment in HK is almost hlaf the price in Malaysian retail.

Basically, the statue itself cost about USD100, as you know. The shipping is about USD40. Try to bid direct from eBay next time. But I don't guarantee 100% all good seller. But all this time, I only have one problem. Always ask for tracking number and Insurance, if you are buying expensive item.

KINOKUNIYA price is super inflated. Just look at their Japanese Books, all are at least 20%-40% mark up. If got the fresh 20% off baru match retail price. But you can't find any other shop that carries these books.

The Kotobukiya Ironman is selling near rm1k in Kino. Try Shioktoys or other speciality shop. Or use ebay might be cheaper.

BTW nobody fancy Black Widow from kotobukiya? Pretty neat though it's more plastic than statue.

Agree.....too expensive for a LSB....I think Sideshow's price is getting more and more expensive nowadays.
Anyway, I think I will still go for it. And have you guys seen the Silver Surfer comiquette sneak peek? Its coming for preorder next week. I am definately getting this one.
After this, Colossus comiquette.

Sorry my AH Black Queen is not for sale, she is the companion piece for my AH White Queen. If only Sideshow would release AH Red Queen. Mmmm.

I like the Disney statues, too bad no local distributor for such.

Nice SOTA statues, seems out of proportions though, different scale, but still nice. Think they are getting better with the poses and sculpt.

The 1/6 Chun-Li is sculpted by Reflect/Mitsumasa... I believe it was never made into PVC by any company... but as Resin/GK kit..

edit: Yamato did produce a painted resin statue ....

Sorry. Correction then. It's a resin statue by Yamato. Yes, sculpted by Reflect.

Hopefully customs don't stop to inspect in first place. It's the declared value + shipping, that alerts them in 1st place.

That popbox company either very brave to release such at high price or very dumb not to check market price of Hasbro/takara 12" version which costs 10x cheaper.

The sculpt doesn't look as complex as the 12" plastic ones.

Very deadly.

Amazing displays out there in the world. Envy.

The AH statues photo-shopped together... Both BC and Mystique are supposed to be 5'10" and Jean at 5"6"... That should make Jean about an inch shorter at 1/4.5 to 1/4 scale...

Think there are 2 different scales of sideshow comiquettes

The recent mystique should be similar scale to X-23.

The other scale would be similar for Mary jane, catwoman, black queen, she hulk

To me, the galactus is one of the must-haves for 2009, unless you are wishing for a future premium format to be released, hehehe....who knows.

There's just too many nice statues coming out all at once, it's tough to choose the favorites based on budget.

I want the following but decided not, to save my wallet :-
1) Darth Talon pf
2) Jedi Luke pf
3) Spiderwoman lsb
4) Legolas pf
5) venom comiquette
6) zangief pf

......... and many more

There are rumors that there will be more xforce dioramas to come, similar to the X-men vs sentinel series.

Who knows, this may turn out to be as valuable as the 1st xmen diorama.

Did a height comparison between Warpath (7'2") and X-23 (5'6")... Seeing the huge discrepancy in size, and the statue is to my surprise accurate in scale between the 2, however Laura's head is still too small.
