thx urs all reply! THX..!
i confirm she's not a wild or adult suggie~ dun worry~
today i din work n accopany my suggie whole day.. finaly she look more tame n no screaming at all.. i keep put her at my shoulder but she seem find a new place to stay d, she like hide in back of my neck n take nap..altot i hope she stand on my shoulder.. but still can accecpt, atleast she wont escape from me.. haha~
hope u all can understood my broken english~ cheers~
Hiding at the back of the neck is normal for gliders that are unsure and scared. It is the safest place for them on our body coz they cannot see our faces and there is our hair to kinda give them some security. Also the shoulder tends to be a solid place to sit on.

sorry im new, juz wan to ask
y u guyz call glider in many name?
wutz diffrent of tat?
especialy "joey"?
If you do not know what is a joey, then it means you are not really ready for a glider. All research would already have explained what to call baby sugar gliders.
QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jul 21 2008, 11:01 PM)
I would really like to say thank you to Jack and Joan from Pet Shack! Since Jack helped me cut their nails, my joeys have been more "user friendly". At least their nails arent so long that my skin would tear the moment she take a climb up my arm. It feels so much better now to have them around.
Today, took them out with me for dinner and then Luna crabbed. The lady sitting next table kept turning around to see where the sound came from. My sister gave me an idea that if we put the crabbing sound as our mobile phone sms sound, that'd be cool. I think so too.
When we got home, I played with them on the dining table. They were afraid to come out from the bonding pouch. Moka is braver. She always come out for a circle and quickly run back in. Luna is more scared of coming out. I took turns to lure each of them out and zip up the pouch behind them, leaving them outside, and then I'll handle them taking from one arm to another and back (repeated). Then return them to the cage.
Think they were hungry when they did this.

Looks like pottying into the metal bowl, yes?

Tag team queen of eating competition
HAahha.... good pictures.
Normally when a glider crabs, I would give an excuse saying it is my handphone. It worked very well, when I am at places that do not allow pets. But one time I was in a taxi, and my glider crabbed..... the driver asked if it was a rattle snake hahahah....
QUOTE(Jamien @ Jul 21 2008, 11:20 PM)
Cute pictures!! I'm so jealous of you lar Sharil~ Your glider so nice~
Anyway, Frey is still very very crabby today. It was funny. I put an apple in front of the open pouch to lure her out.

but she started attacking the apple. then she found out it can be eaten and stole it back in her pouch.
Your joey still trying to get used to not having it's mom around. Heheheh.... slowly lah.
QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jul 22 2008, 12:34 AM)
Yes it is better to introduce them when they are still joeys. If adult and joey, the adult may attack the harmless joey. So the risk is there. Joeys that grow up together has a special bond between themselves so it's a good thing rather than having it risk being attack by an adult.
Normally joeys with joeys introduction is always much faster. Adults, especially male adults or a dominant female adult can have problems accepting a new joey or adult glider. It needs some neutral introduction, smell/scent exchange and also cage introduction.
QUOTE(Jamien @ Jul 22 2008, 12:36 AM)
@@ Frey is running all over my room. I think I need to get a tent.
Get a tent hehehe.... easier for you lah.
QUOTE(tee_jay @ Jul 22 2008, 09:41 AM)
Hun, hows bubba..??
cant wait 2 bring him home actually... but bcos certain thing happen,
we cant find a proper day 2 bring him home...
busy with moving 2 a new place... scared take him now, then we will move again, scared
he will stress with new environment...
Ah, I haven't updated his pic. Now he is confirm bigger than my handphone. I'll get a pic tonight. Bubba is already musking, his scent gland on his chest is staining. Early developer heheheh.... But he is a sweetheart. He is quite shy, just like his dad. His mom, Naya is more daring and always waits for me at the cage door. Bubba and his dad would always be hiding in the sleeping pouch, only coming out after I turn off the lights.
I will be separating Bubba from his parents in a few days time loh.
This weekend free?
QUOTE(ekazakaria @ Jul 22 2008, 10:14 AM)
I can bring BoBo home this weekend? woohooo!!! I'll either pick him up this saturday or sunday yaaaa? i'll call to confirm...yayyyyyyyy
ohhh...i probably want to rent your cage as well...have to separate Piya from Pika as well first, i have 3 cages but, i think the third one is too small for Piya although its just for short period of time...i'll discuss about this with you later ya...
about Pika, hopefully when Pika sees how BoBo so in love with his food, she'll start eating a bit more as well..

Yes, you can take BoBo. He needs more personal attention, I just have too much to handle now hahahah. He is also getting better, which is good lah.
Sure, if you need to loan a cage, no problem with me.
BoBo always attack his food once I place it in. Even eats scrambled eggs hahahah.
QUOTE(lompatlari @ Jul 22 2008, 11:08 AM)
wah, congrats ekazakaria. hope they can get along well.
my joeys is out from the pouch on june 29. It is not even a month until now. Is it possible for the mama to get pregnant again now? because last night I saw her tummy and it look fishy or am I seeing things? - by the way sorry for the earlier post crazymouse, I thought you were a boy.
The female glider has a possibility of already pregnant. It is just that the joey in the womb has not developed yet, it is in suspended animation, waiting to develop when the time is right. Normally this happens when the current joeys are OOP already. This means she would require more nutritious food to keep up with developing joeys and also joeys in pouch or womb.

If I can, I would take them already. Poor gliders..... still joey stage summore.... sigh.... heartbreaking.
QUOTE(bonai @ Jul 22 2008, 01:16 PM)
this is bullshit man!
1. using towel as hiding place is it?
2. hamster wheel?! WTF?!!
3. hamster cage
4. wood shavings
So stupid for the owner didn't even bother to do some research..
I just can't help it even if he/she is a newbie..
How could he/she leave the joey in that condition?!!
Hamster cage lah tu. Really, have to agree with you. The owner must be silly to keep gliders in such a poor condition. I wanna kick that person to make him/her realize how much suffering the gliders are going through.
QUOTE(bonai @ Jul 22 2008, 02:44 PM)
breeding is not only waiting for female to be 8 months..
you're so clever to tell people to do research and plan..
so you yourself must be prepared also..
breeding for the sake of joeys only is considered part of unethical..
we're looking further to produce 'quality joeys'..
that's the main reason for people to buy from reliable breeders/sellers..
i'm not saying you're gonna sell the joey, but still if you want joeys, make sure they are quality joeys..
pregnant mom needs proper care and diet..
if you cannot provide these, do not breed at all..
and if you don't know how to breed, don't breed at all..
having 1-2 gliders might be adorable..
but when you have 10 gliders, will you have much time to play with them all?
not all people could, now say can, then later neglect them..
so be wise and plan properly..
it's better for me to say this now so all can read rather than flaming one person when it's already too late..
Also have to bring up the facts about rejected joeys, pouch prolapse, overbreeding....
I think too many people ignore these facts. All they wanna see is joeys.... like how people simply breed their puppies and kittens coz "wanna experience breeding own cucu".... I would straight away ask that person to go and get married ASAP to experience own kids and own grandkids.....

Hi guys! I'm a newbie, a student and really interested to get a suggie someday. I have done some research on it and still continue to do research on it.I have some questions which i would like to ask:
1) Is it ok if the cage for Suggie putted under fluorescent light during night time?
If can't, how can i place the cage in a apartment?
2) Is it Suggie make noisy very loud at night?(e.g. is it the noise will disturb my housemet at night(sleep time)?)
Thanx in advance!
They do not like lights at night, the darker the better coz they are nocturnal.
Gliders do make noise. Barking, hissing, chattering.... it may make your neighbours think you are keeping a puppy.... or operating a machine gun/blender when they crab.
QUOTE(babymina @ Jul 22 2008, 06:01 PM)
they are so adorable, are they hard to take care?
Read the 1st page and judge yourself. I would say it can be both difficult and easy, as this depends on you. If you are lazy to keep pets, then you would say easy coz mainly neglect them. If you really care for them then you would realize it is tough coz they need so much attention and their diet is not simple like a dog or cat.

Hey..newbie...
maybe your sugar glider is too stress or what...
last year, when i have my first sugar glider ...my sugar glider chewing its fur like yours sugar glider...
but not that serious...
now my sugar glider already fat fat(control eat now and diet

) ...the fur glow back...
for the my case...
-i put my sugar glider in my room.
-provide food balance(like different, let him enjoy and happy) and play with him/her everyday.
-then i bought one more glider to accompany him.
about 3 week..my sugar glider already stable(didt chew fur and the fur start to grow...)
change the cage lo...is too small...
dont give cat food and the shaving wood is not good and not suitable for glider...
i hope your glider will look better in the future post!
Good luck

...
Er.... you must have read wrongly. No member here owns those gliders lah, phoonwa was just pointing out about someone not knowing how to keep gliders and follow what petshop said.
The fur loss is not by chewing. This case is from dust, wood shavings phenols and oils, and also poor diet. Your glider was experiencing boredom, which led to over grooming. Luckily it did not go to self mutilation. This kinda things like over grooming and self mutilating is a form of loneliness, boredom and depression. The gliders in the pictures are suffering from severe skin irritation.
