QUOTE(devil&angel @ Nov 18 2008, 12:13 PM)
i got mine via lelong.com u might want to try it, just search under E71, load of ppl selling them "ahem ahem" version

need some help though, how long does the battery last, SIFUz here can help? Mine averages about 2 days tops...
i do use the Garmin & Voice as well as calls & sms, but I dont listen to songs or watch videos..... tongue.gif
*
GPS will consume your battery faster. if normal usage of just calls and sms, mine can last me up to 5 days. even wifi-ing, listening to music and videos in between, it would still be able to last me about 3 days. But if gps is activated, max i'm guessing is maybe few hours only. people who have reviewed it states that it will be about 14hrs GPS with E71 before u run out of batt. Its still the record time for GPS usage as none other phone can use longer than that. thumbup.gif Thumbs up for E71 battery life......

As an advise, i have been using it for like nearing 2 months but I have charged my phones 9 times only. How i do it, don leave your charger switch on when charging is completed and never charge your phone overnight. The latter rule is essential if u want to prolong your phones battery life.

OMG, ive done it for 5 to 7 times already coz when i saw my battery was about 4 or 3 bars left i charged it and took it out on the next morning before going to class. i always scare not to charge even the battery is still 3 bars left coz i thought it cant survive from 8am to 4pm during my class hour coz i might use it to check mail, listen to music via bluetooth etc2, no?
*
actually 3 bars is still quite a lot. for me 3 bars can still last me about 1.2 days. if you're running music and web connection, probably can last u 14-18 hours still. don compare the battery with other phones man. u will be surprised with the battery power of the E71. And also, remember, only charge when it reaches the last bar, and never charge overnight. thats wat i do all the time to prolong my battery life cos its not cheap to get a replacement.

hi to all...

need to know a few quest.

1. what is the max capacity of memory card can be used (8gb, 16gb)? anybody tested it?
2. what is the good brand/type for m.card? How to know it's class 4 or 6 ?!
3. how much battery price for e71 1500 mA? can get cheaper here ?!

any autorised person (selling) for ref appreciate ... rclxms.gif

so far, happy with e71.. thumbup.gif
*
Max 8gb and depending on your own preference. If speed is your preference then get a 4GB MicroSDHC card from Sandisk. For those below 4GB are normally MicroSD only. Doesn't matter 4GB/8GB/16GB, most memory cards are using class 2 only as found on Sandisk website. They will normally specify on the product details regarding the class. Its no biggie actually, the class defines the minimum speed meaning it can go way higher than that but not lower. Class 2 means 2MB/sec. If speed is less important, and u prefer quality, then go for a PNY 1GB microSD or OCZ Trifecta MicroSD 2GB card. I am using a PNY 512Mb since the day I use MicroSD with my Moto Razr v3i and so far it has never been corrupted or give me trouble before. 1 thing I can tell you is that it is not cheap though.

An original battery will cost you probably RM180-200. I saw a forummer claiming that he is from SIngapore and selling it at RM60 only as a supplier price. But dunno can trust or not.

In terms of battery, I would recommend to get it from the Nokia authorized dealer. I have a few bad experiences with the "compatible" battery. It will work quite fine for the first few days, then eventually went kaput. There are times that it totally can't charge.
"Compatible" battery will not be good in quality. If you're unlucky, if you overcharge the battery, the battery will get expended due to heat and you may end up having your battery stuck in the phone.
*
if its stuck its still ok, sometimes it may even burst. u dun want that to happen with the phone lying near your head when u sleep. it could be nasty and life-threatening. i think some emails about that have been circling around for quite some time.

Thanks a lot!!! XD

Added on November 21, 2008, 12:23 amMy battery seems not long lasting at all. Using E71 for one whole day, for calls (24_avg_2mins) and smses (16) only. No web, GPS, yada yada. From 9am till midnight, it drops to 2 bars. If there is any similar user out there, please do tell me it is normal. Thank you!
*
24 calls and each call 2 minutes? And it drops to 2 bar from fully charged? Better get it checked then.

Can share about your usage for 4 days? Calls amount, activities etc ... thanks!
*
Well, my usage to last me for 4-5 days average 5 hours of calltime, about 50 messages, total of about 2 hours of wifi browsing, about 1 hour of EDGE browsing, about 1 hour of music player, alarm clock, and the rest of the time are on standby mode (without breathing light on). Just a rough estimate though for your reference.

holy cow.....  r u using a 2000mAh? haha... no way my batt can do that man... seriously... respect...

anyway... just for ur info.... the people working in nokia service center in 1utama (near TGV) are super rude.
Wanted them to help me do something with my phone but then, they didn't layan me n answered me rudely. Mayb cos i weren't there to buy a phone but then again, there was only one other customer besides me. i don't understand why they have to be so rude when ppl r seeking for phone service. Moreover, mine is a zitron set.

super crappy customer service. i wonder if i can do an official complain.  hmm.gif

QUOTE(Superman7 @ Nov 21 2008, 05:48 PM)
bro.. seriously your battery is out of the world.. I can't even have that long with half the things that you have done..
I only managed 3 days and having to charge on the 4th morning itself..
Well, i dunno if I've got a super battery or the Singapore version phone i got was ultimate. But honestly, I think most of you charge the phone overnight right? And even when its full, yours are still plucked in until u actually remember to pull it out right?

Well, for me, warning tones is on and once its fully charged it will beep for completion and I immediately plucked it out. Worse still is to leave your charger plugged in on the wall source. Everytime mine is done, I switch it off and took it out and keep in my drawer. Maybe u don believe, but my old phone's charger left in the open spoils really fast (dunno if its the dust). Maybe some consider I'm doing too much here but I love my E71 and all I'm doing so far is beneficial rather than damaging to it. thumbup.gif

thats the correct way mate.. u really love ur phone.. hehe.. btw, urs white or silver? I am planning to get 1.. i like white but when i get in hand.. it looks weird to me. hehe
*
if u actually take white, its more special and different from the usual crowd of E71, i myself uses the grey steel. White is perfectly fine except for the danger of it getting dirty. But if you really check as I have from friends around europe and aussie, the price for a white steel is slightly higher. Maybe because it looks more "pure" and it totally produces a different feeling when u look at it. Black on the other hand produces a usual smartphone feel.

maybe jameslee_84 interesting also in selling/bulk e71 battery...
so can get the best price for it....
*
Well, right now preparing to take orders for second bulk of Pdair leather case but for battery, its better to get from authorised dealer. the price might be high but the quality is guaranteed. I will source for it and see and if I can find a dealer for it willing to profit less than the usual margin, I will let u guys know. Maybe I will source for the OEM as well, Nokia takes their battery out of China production so if I can lay my hands on those OEM battery from China, then price will be significantly lower.

*
let me scout around for it. there are certain 3rd parties product who are good quality as well. i will try too source for higher capacity to be able to last more days.

my battery phone can last for 2 days only without running anything. this happen after i install new update and install garmin ahemm. anybody have this same problem or anybody have suggestion?
*
make sure its all off or u have exit all programs else it is actually still running at the background thats why it drains the batt. i'm not using the new firmware yet so can't really help if its the firmware issues.

anyone know where to get e71 battery (NOT made in china!) ?!
trusted person/ori & best price with warranty!!

is it possoble?!
*
i think its all made in china. Nokia now orders their battery from their OEM plant in China. It is still Nokia only made in China, much like Nike clothing made in China. Things from China are pretty doubtful, but if its Nokia but made in China, you shouldn't worry much as Nokia conducts uncountable test to ensure quality.

Check out this link to be more assured..... Nokia Phone Test Routine

That's the reason why i use Nokia. If you are interested maybe u can be patient a bit, I have manage to locate battery maker who produces 1800mAh battery for E71, much higher than the stock 1500mAh, meaning u get 20% longer batteyr life. They also have 3600 mAh battery for E71 but it will bulge at the back and makes the E71 not so slim anymore.

what do u think regarding using garmin tha might drain the battery although it's setting not to autorun on startup (prev post) ?

im still can't believe it! im using latest garmin 5.00.10.0 & happy with it.
need to clarify this ??!!!
*
well, i am using garmin as well but i don't have such problems. hmm, i wonder who knows how to answer that. maybe because its not an authentic version of garmin thats why when its running at the background there are no indication that its still running. Just a wild guess but could be the reason right? The only way to know would be to test onich4n's phone and another e71 say like mine with the same battery from onich4n's phone then we can make a steady comparison.

be patient guys, hope u guys can wait, still trying to find one with a good price when its brought in to Malaysia else wouldn't be worth the purchase at all. But I'm looking at bringing in 1800mAh only, cos 3600mAh will be ugly and heavy on it.

just wanna know, do u need to pay when using the gps in e71?

can we install mapking in e71?
*
If u disable a-gps and only use the garmin then its free. The a-gps shorten the time to locate your present coordinate so you will be charge by your telco based on their rates. I tried and I got charged like RM8 plus for few minutes of usage only.

And mapking should be able to install on E71, I haven't try it yet but shouldn't be a problem.

Did anyone buy the silicon case for E71? I've been searching for it but can't find it.
Well, some have ordered silicone case from me, u interested? Or why not get a leather case for the "professional feel"....

I'm having this problem too. Can you share the steps to rename the files without messing Garmin up ?
*
Its already posted above. At least I got it half accurate about programs running at the background. Just the explanation wasn't the reason I had in mind regarding the .dll file. But still, just as wat I suspected, if nothing is running, there is no way the battery consume itself so fast.

Can't wait for your photo! (Ooh, jameslee_84, is this any good?)

well, it depends really how u want to protect it and the feeling u are looking for. the invisible shield is made of high quality films that prevent scratches on the phone which is really excellent base on reviews i've had. But remember, it doesn't cover camera lens if I recall correctly. The negative point is that it doesn't prevent damage from a drop. I once drop my phone from about 5 feet high as I was carrying some bags and luckily I have the original leather pouch which result in Zero damage. So, a full leather case with full coverage of every cornerwill of course provide better protection.

last thing is that u can always put both together. invisible shield is only a thin layer so it still can fit into leather case.

im thinking of changing my e71 to SE x1..wut do u think guys? but i still in love with e71..x1 kinda havin lots of probs crack of the case , battery probs n ram manufacturing error..haizz..
ray, u will regret taking a SE phone. It is a flagship phone but SE, bah...... "Ada bentuk ada gaya", but no 'isi' and quality. I used w810i before, my sister a w580i user, my mother a w910i user, my brother a p990i user, and my gf a z550i user.....

but now, I use E71, my sister uses iphone, my mom use Nk6300, and my brother uses N95, and my gf is anticipating a Moto Pebl/Rokr u9..... need i say more?

well, maybe u can check around first before deciding to buy, I'm sure a lot of ppl will come up with a comparison table and review of the X1 compare to the E71 sooner rather than later.

This is my 4th day owning this phone. Today I noticed that the left and right soft keys are making a squeaking sound like *ek* *ek* like that when I press them. Anyone else having this problem? It's like there's friction when I press those buttons. But this thing is still new!

I also noticed that when I pressed  the left/right softkey towards the center, the key including the D-pad moves inwards and outwards. As if the glue is loose or something sad.gif

this is what a forummer here told me about the invisible shield. I can't name any names, else it would be bad for those ppl who buy it from other forrumer here. Don want to stir up trouble with any seller. Here's what he said...

well, i didn't manage to stick it to the steel parts as it is too slippery.. it doesn't deserve the name invisible as it is quite thick but yet rigid.. haven't dare to scratch it yet coz of the cost.. if u really wanna buy juz ask for the screen protecter.. not worth full body coz it looks stupid pieces plastics sticking on all over ur phone..
