QUOTE(pxd @ Nov 10 2008, 10:04 PM) Aaaah ... in the dilemma of getting E71 ... should I go for it? Or should I go for E66? (I have read through tons of reviews/comments and now headache, even tested the phone in one of the Nokia concept store. E71 is on the plus side as it has much much longer battery life for usage and the handy qwerty-board. They are both very identical except for accelerometer that is only on E66.) Well, if u ask for opinion here, definitely E71. cos its an E71 thread brother. But anyway, wat is your need? do u wan a smartphone that comes with a professional qwerty and good battery life as u are always on the go?----> E71, or u want a hip and cool design smartphone but no need for the professional look?----> E66. Furthermore, should I go for APset or avaxx/zitron set? Any user that knows more between the two would be great. (As I can see the price difference is around 300, which is not too much, not too little.) Thanks everyone and appreciated. 1 point to make, flip phone has its limits, sooner or later the flip spring will become loose as u know, every hinges have its lifeline. And if u read review, E71 is on par with Omnia except that there's no touchscreen. If touchscreen is indeed your choice, then definitely Nokia E series is out for you. |

QUOTE(prince_william @ Nov 11 2008, 02:42 PM) i guys.i will be buying this phone end of this week, but i still do not know which colour looks better.any opinion? A lot of ppl including me prefer the black steel version as i'm always on the go, so dirt is a norm on my phone, so i opted for it as it won't get dirty quick. For the white steel, honestly it looks beautiful and pure, but I can assure u, if I were using it, before long, even the white steel will become black steel version. If u know how to take care of it then u get the white steel, try checking it oversea, the white steel version is actually more expensive abit. P.S. One way for you to keep the keypad clean either black or white steel is to get the PDAir leather case from me....... |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Nov 11 2008, 08:44 PM) Guys guys! New firmware update is available for Nokia E71 now! Its version 110.07.127. You will need to update your Nokia Software Updater (NUS) first before proceeding. Your current NUS version will prompt for an update. Good luck guys! if there really is a new software update, then i guess there won't be a language barrier no more. just change product code and reflash it. Voila, u got urself one that can support the language u want but provided that the software is really available.Added on November 11, 2008, 8:55 pm QUOTE(pxd @ Nov 11 2008, 06:37 PM) Aiks, it's really too bad for KL-ian. Anyway, been seeing posts/comments and seems that Penang really enjoys the goodness of lowest pricing. How come?! Beats me, but u have to source real hard for it. I went to a kawan's kawan's kawan's place..... so, i think he doesn't want to profit so much since he knew my kawan's kawan's kawan, and therefore my friend bought it for that price. My own set i bought original from Singapore. KL already have the best of most things, so Penang shud have some once in awhile rite? This post has been edited by jameslee_84: Nov 11 2008, 08:55 PM |

sometimes, not all region will have the update yet. possibly only certain region has it. So, if the region's product code u chose have it, then u can do so. As far as i know, my Singapore set no update yet.
Honestly, don't put too much hope in the camera improvements. most probably they jus change the layout of the controls. The one thing I look forward to the new firmware is the Email settings. For now, the original settings available suck big time. Kinda limited option provided by the setup wizard. I sync with my office IMAP but seems to fail all the time, as connection cannot be established. real crap. Added on November 12, 2008, 3:07 pm QUOTE(pxd @ Nov 11 2008, 10:02 PM) How's the speakerphone performing for E71? Seeing review said it is under par. I am relying more on speakerphone with my current phones. Thanks. This post has been edited by jameslee_84: Nov 12 2008, 03:07 PM |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Nov 13 2008, 08:56 AM) Honestly speaking, I do not think there are any grade differentiation by looking at the country of origin. Obviously Nokia has started outsourcing assembly process to other countries but you will all expect the same level of quality from Nokia. Although, I will have to agree that parts may be sourced from different vendors/subcontractors of the region of origin, the range of quality is ultimately decided by Nokia. true la. put to rest d. just that normally sets in malaysia are from made in china. the made in finland set makes it special as it is from the country Nokia originated from ma.I think this has been discussed and put into rest before. QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Nov 13 2008, 03:42 PM) But the thing that makes me sad is the headset..Previously i was using the N95..The headset was awesome..But the E71 headset seem like something was missing..N i just found out that the missing part was the Bass...The E71 headset is just rubbish(need to get a stereo bluetooth headset )...Btw,do they sell 2.5mm->3.5mm converter? N-series and E-series cater to different group of users. I can see that headset is one of your important requirements when u buy a phone, maybe u should get another phone as I understand that E71 headset is crappy as it caters to business class which utilise the connectivity and email function, but for music purposes, I'm on Ipod. |

wah.... i'm not like an E71 expert, seriously!!!
And to post all my knowledge is kind of impossible as I learn it through trial and error. Just play around and u will get it. I agree with a new thread for it but hey, I really have no time for it all fellow E71 users. Maybe we can set up a team to contribute to the thread. I can contribute to the PDAir pouch review though and some picture of my phone with the pouch on. Superman is an expert here as well. I'll vote for him to start the new thread. |

well, i'm gonna make a list before i start a new thread la. so if anyone got suggestion or recommendation as to Symbian or e71 resources. Do share and post here. I'll start with one, CCam is a good software for image capturing instead of using the native camera software. And no shutter sound which makes it discreet when you're cam-whoring without anyone noticing.

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Nov 15 2008, 03:51 PM) seriously, if we discuss, everything has its pros and cons, there's no autofocus on it yes but it silence up the irritating shutter sound. And there's no point saying its good or not. Honestly, if u have a better software do share here instead of just giving your honorable personal opinion and in then we're still stuck with CCam and u can go on and on about its cons but it takes us nowhere better than the position we're presently in. No offence man, but I'm trying to shortlist all good and recommended programs/software for E71 users to begin a new thread rather than discuss about the program itself. Let those who haven't try it get their hands on it at least until a better software can be found. Agree? |

QUOTE(-Torrz @ Nov 15 2008, 08:01 PM) Yes, the old E-series, mainly the predecessor E61i is quite bulky, but you have assurance not jus from me, but from everyone in this thread, it is slim, solid, edgy, stylish, sleek, professional, lightweight, attractive..... and erm, let me add in "gaya, power, cun, mantap, segak" and watever complimentary terms that u can find to describe it. U gotta hold it to love it, and love it to use it, and use it to feel it, and feel it to buy it, and buy it to understand it, and understand it to appreciate it. But one thing, if touchscreen and good camera is your preference, then don hold, don love it, don use it, don feel it, don buy it, dun understand it, don appreciate it and ultimately leave it alone. Added on November 15, 2008, 10:27 pm QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Nov 15 2008, 10:21 PM) Well, you are the one who seems to be offended instead of me Not offende bro. Thats how i want it. Solution bro. Care to explain how the crack is done? And will it have negative effects on the phone? What is the point of taking blurry photos? Better way - (1) crack your phone to off the shutter (2) plug in your headset & take photos. Sound will go thru your headset. Conclusion - CCam is a BIG NO NO for autofocus phones.... QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Nov 15 2008, 10:56 PM) To crack, there will be 2 ways: if you're using the euro firmware bro, mind to let me know if in message mode, can change input language to chinese character?1) use euro firmware for your phone. Once your phone in silent mode, camera shutter sound off too. 2) http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2008/05/sil...mera-sound.html Both above is related to cracking your phone software. I tried & it worked very well (2nd one) but hv to do it under your own risk. If you do not wish to do any cracking / hacking, then - use a headset when snapping photo |
