personally i ve tried n used d e51 for about 3 months give and take..batt was good..but the symbian thingy left me with a bad impression..i mean its abit sluggish.so i sold it off n got an iphone.yeah it has d wow factor.but constantly having to charge the iphone everyday doesnt appeal me.so i sold it off..

so i m currently having to choose either

1.samsung i900
2.htc touch
3.another iphone 3g
4.nokia e71

i know that i m leaning towards the e71 due to its batt life.but the symbian thingy is abit not to my liking unless someone who has used both e51 n e71 can tell me that d symbian on e71 its better..but it should b d same right?

i900... if u cant take symbian.. then WinMo is a hard thing to swallow too.. but hey, i might be wrong..

touch diamond? heard there is alot of problem havent rectify yet...

iphone 3g? wait for the unlocked might lead your neck become long

e71? something balance but non touch screen.
e51 and e71 both more or less the same in terms of OS.
in this case, i would advise you to test the unit in the shop. who knows you might just like it.

You know what, at first this e71 wasn't even in my radar when i went searching for my new phone. Planning to get the n82. But then when i saw this phone and try it for myself. Its love at first sight. Try it first, you never know...

i hv a different view on e51. i hv owned 2 iphone before, yes.. it got the wow-effect.. but that doesn't last long. UI is intuitive enough... try to delete the sms in bulk which is impossible in iPhone. the super duper safari browser was great bundled.. powerful enough to offer you an desktop web browsing experience.. but you can't download a thing with it.

e51 is a realy snappy symbian s60 device. my e51 still serve me as main phone as of now, e71 is on my desk... will switch over to it once my screen protector is arrived.

switching app to app in e51... is really zippy. wifi, bt, hsdpa, 3g all packed into one small little phone. i hv 3 email a/c sync. simultanously with e51... it performs really well.

you should get your e51 firmware update.. if you feel your e51 is slow laggy.

a smartphone like this under rm1k, i really hv nothing to complaint. just my 2 cents.

IMHO the white ones looks abit "plasticky"(is there such a word?)..

dont worry, symbian goes a long way since E51. E71 is super fast, you'll love it smile.gif according to ur list anyway, HTC offer WinMo which for me is very functional but impractical tongue.gif (slow to do even basic tasks) so i sold my Dual smile.gif

owh yeah, iphone3G waay overprice and overrated. u buy E71 now, later after 2 year buy that iphone sure price buy both phone same like buy one iphone3G now, huhu.

never quite understand ppl watching movies on super small screen compare to big-as-ur-pocket can monitor tongue.gif huhu. if watch short2 episode ok laa, but movies? isk. no satisfaction at al

Would wanna get some feedbacks for the E71 as of the following:

1. Does it support USB charging from PC/laptop or car
2. Any problems using it as data modem eg. frequent disconnect
3. Clarity and loudness of speakerphone
4. Support for threaded SMS
5. Any problems using A-GPS while on the call eg. sluggishness
6. Do u need to stick in the AV connector acting as antenna to enable radio

7. Voice recording - functions during in and out call
8. Text to speech - how does this work? eg. read out messages?
9. Is there backlight on the keys?

I think thats about it. Appreciate and looking forward for your feedback.

2. nope, good and easy connection software with nokia pc suite
3. loud and clear to me, this is biz phone smile.gif
4. nope, but u can install SMS Chat for S60, it offers threaded sms
5. nope, but i never used it as GPS while i'm driving and having phone call at the same time
6. yes, need the wired headphone.
7. yes, by long pressing the dedicated voice recording button.
8. yes, read out your email or sms. **robotic way,u know**
9. yes, with pulsation navi-pad backlight, make ur phone feel like its breathing. and it flashing, when u hv missed call, sms or email.

Raven_lee,

go to your messaging setting -> email -> your_mail_box_name -> connection settings -> incoming/outgoing email (for both) -> access point in use -> set to Always ask.

so it would prompt for connection, whenever u trigger to pull the email. whether by 3G/GPRS or via WIFI... the choice is yours.

amdx,

Thank u so much for taking the time to answer my questions - really appreciate your effort.

2 more questions.

1. I realise the Notes function does not have the capability to tag a reminder or alarm to it. Only way to do it is via the calendar?

2. Does the Nokia PC suite given has a seamless sync with MS Outlook? Or do I have to map certain fields accordingly.

Things are looking great so far and might get one to replace my "Old Too" Atom.

phobian,

Dunno the answer to Q1 coz never tried. Answer to Q2 is no problem at all. Coz I'm using a E61i and have synced my MS Outlook to the phone including using Mail for Exchange. No worries at all.
