boleh jugak....but if that happen this will be the year we know as the year a game surpassed both mgs and gta at its best....that will also mean that the industry is producing more quality games..

Well, personal opinion of mine, both games shouldn't win GOTY because non-fans of the both these games wouldn't pick it up and play it even after they have seen and experienced the game.

I, myself, is not a fan of GTA and MGS, and I bought both because of the hype. I would say MGS4 has given me more incentive to continue but it doesn't hook me to the game until I can't let go of the controller. GTAIV, well, I've practically given up on it.

I hope GOTY goes to a game that will make people change their perception towards a genre.

i hope MGS4 never wins the GOTY. Lets keep this franchise strictly for its fans.Appreciation from the fans are enough, after all, we are the ones who are buying the game.

Gears of War 3: GOTY Edition

MGS series never win goty b4... but there is still chances winning this year... arue enuff wat u say... lets just the fans appreciate this one.. hehehe but im never a fan of previous series... started really play this one on portable ops... man i just say its awesome... hehehe the story telling is great even its just a comic strip style hehehe great game...

about making a film out of a game... mmmmmm... so far in the case of this.... the film will fail.... alot of movie fail badly when they make it from a game.... see what happen to alone in the dark... fail... hitman... fail... doom.... fail....DOA... too bad fail... man they turn to change the whole story to fit their own so i dont really want to see this in movie.. unless hideo kojima really really involve in it...

no, it didn't but it did got an Excellence Award(runner up) for Interactive Art at the 1998 Japan Media Arts Festival and in 2002 IGN's editors ranked it as the best PlayStation game ever......

WOW, because of this game....the PS3 topped both the Wii & 360 sales....

They will always be. So just ignore them and enjoy the game.

MGS4 is the first game in history(as far as i remembered) to get perfect scores from Famitsu, IGN, Gamespot & X play.......

Well, GTA4 is the first one to get all perfect scores if you exclude Famitsu.....but GOTY or not...both of the games had done the industry proud..
P.S. Is an equivalent for an Academy Award needed for the game industry???...

for other news X play also gave a 5/5 for the partly Malaysian made GRID...

Mgs4 was epic!

MGS shouldn't just win GOTY award. It will be an insult. It should be given some lifetime achievement award or something just for the amount of innovation it have introduced to the gaming industry such as giving birth to the sneaking genre, hollywood level production values, the blending of reality and fiction, political and social awareness, postmodern story telling, occasional breaking the fourth wall moments, and always pushing the envelope of visual and sound presentation.

Playing MGS 4 with 5.1 surround in my room man, it's like watching a movie. I like how they fully utilized the surround sound as you can hear where enemies are coming from, especially during the boss fight, hence instead of relying on visual cues only, sound cues are just as important.

Kojima did afterall said that the theme of this game is senses.

Sorry to rain on your parade friend. Apparently Legend Of Zelda : Ocarina of Time got the honours earlier. Probably few other games before and after as well.

Gamespot - 10
IGN - 10
Famitsu 40
EGM - 10/10 - Platinum

That leaves out X-Play/Extended Play, which can easily be satisfied to give a perfect score, not sure if it existed yet back then.


Damn, me wishing for a PS3 now, even if only for this game.

I did know that Legend Of Zelda : Ocarina of Time is the first one to get perfect scores from IGN, Gamespot & Famitsu....but MGS4 is still the first to achieve that, if you include X-Play....anyway LOZ:Oot is still a classic...

But honestly I believe OoT is overrated. Maybe it's just me because I got to OoT after Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, which, IMO are far more polished.

1.3K for a PS3 is really tempting now, with MGS4 out. I'm considering discarding the idea for a Wii unless Ninty pulls out another Zelda game out of their hats this E3.

As for Kojima, I remember the guy said he was hesitant to work on an MGS game after the pressure working on MGS2:Sons of Liberty. In the end he still came out with two better MGS's after that.

I believe that a great game has come to an end. Not necassary that MG titles are gone, its just that MGS 4 is done, and I hope to see a new franchise from the same team, minus Kojima or with him.

Though the game maybe said as epic (I haven't played it yet), its obviously clear that with 2 games having perfect scores already, I'm a bit fazed on how GOTY should be given to the 2, or perhaps other games from other consoles.

Man, when is a Nintendo DS game gonna be GOTY.
