GPS is the entire system, to make it work, you will a device (PDA with GPS function since we are talking about "GPS in phone", but there are also dedicated GPS devices) and software including maps. That being said, the hardware/device/chipset in each PDA/smartphone and the software it comes with may vary. TomTom is a manufacturer of GPS system including device and software. Some GPS-PDAs use TomTom software as their bundled software.....

Fellow forumers, correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyway, read here to understand better --> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/359867 and you might wanna re-post your question there to keep this thread clean.

Hi smile.gif

I thought of getting an O2 Atom/ atom exec second hand for RM400-RM450. Is it a good deal? Or are there any other models from other brands that I should consider too?

Thanks

@blademaster, with that budget its hard to get a reliable PDA. period. so any recommendations will be relatively good, but that doesnt mean its "good". hope i make sense.

u dont have much choices and if its a pdaphone u want, those two do fit the specs and budget. that said, they are still pretty unreliable and prone to hanging.

my personal suggestion = up your budget to either Dopod D810 or Dopod 838pro second hand. at least u can keep using it even for a few years.

otherwise, if i were u, i'd stick to using a normal phone : /

I say HTC Touch Pro. Was looking at "Heavy Gaming" .....you will need a fast processor, hardware buttons, a big battery and VGA screen preferably. Hence the HTC Touch Pro, which also fulfill your other requirements. Alternatively, a Touch Diamond with extended battery pack.

But to be frank, I have never tried serious gaming on other devices besides HTC...

Dopod 838Pro is only having 400Mhz.

O2 Atom Exec is having 520Mhz

But O2 Atom Exec not as reliable as Dopod 838Pro?

Reliability that I was referring to is actually 'stability of running WM Pro 6.1'

as in, less freeze/hang.

So which processor is actually faster? The Dopod 838Pro or the O2 Atom Exec?

@blademaster, on paper, the O2 is faster. But as it does not have 2D or 3D acceleration that additional 120MHZ matters squat. so ignore it. in terms of stability i say go for Dopod 838pro.

Baron, may I know the reason you suggest to stay away from Touch HD for heavy gaming application? Touch HD comes with the spec. on par with Touch Diamond and Touch Pro right?

Thanks in advance for your reply smile.gif

Just helping out; the HD is lack of hardware buttons (for some games you need more of those) plus its still-rare WVGA screen resolution.
