if compared with Diamond with Extended Battery pack VS Touch Pro with the standard battery, which 1 has better batt life?

Sorry to cut in again...theoretically, should be the same. but TD (Touch Diamond) has a third party battery model, which is much higher capacity. Check this out ----> http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_touch_diamond_...er-news-544.php

No need to be sorry, we are all helping each other out. rolleyes.gif Just that you need to be clear of what you want and a little bit more hardworking on researching/reading reviews/forums and stuff.

And do you still want us to refer to your previous requirements posted on the 25th of Dec? You mentioned that your budget is around 2k but Touch Diamond definitely costs more than that. GPS, you said it's essential for your conputer science project but Touch Viva has no GPS. You said if internal memory is big enough then you don't need the external one, but how big is big? Are you going to place lots of music and video in your device?

Why don't we stick to your initial budget and you tell us how would you be using your PDA? Maybe from most important to less important? EG: computer science project -> surf net with wifi -> organizer -> games

Actually most PDAs can be used (too general, I know); but they all R&D-ed and tested. Only depends on what you want.

Maximum budget can go around 2.3 or 2.4 perhaps...
VIVA no GPS ah? I'm a noob in PDA stuff... when i refer to --> http://www.mobile88.com/cellphone/HTC/HTC-...ecification.asp
it written there GPS ( Google map ) its not GPS?? shocking.gif

My project comes first... Surf net through WIFI second and the rest I dont really care....
My project need GPS Receiver because I'm going to develop GPS Tracking software. I got my ZEN to store music... video I dont think so. sweat.gif Some music ( like 2 or 3 albums ripped at 44Khz with 192kbps bitrate ) wont take up so much space I guess...
Nowadays the size of the application or software is getting bigger and bigger... 4GB internal memory I scared will be easily run out in near future, around 4 or 5 years time.. blink.gif ..

I do hope that u all can help me decide coz i have no experience in this PDA stuff... neither on cellphone...
Thank you all notworthy.gif icon_question.gif

what he means no GPS bro is that yea there is no GPS receiver on the Viva (so u can't use mapking or garmin just like that) unlike the Diamond/Touch Pro/TOuch HD with inbuilt chips.

um let me tell u bro 4gb is quite a lot of space unless u fill it with videos/music/pictures, the applications are not really as huge as u think unless u wanna keep all the applications that u have installed before and use together with the new ones

I have added a screenshot to explain what I meant by there's no GPS on the Viva compared to a Diamond by looking at the spec sheet on GsmArena

I hope this really helps biggrin.gif

I think the GPS(Google Maps), is like a GPS emulation software that plots your route on the google map and render it real time for you using data connections such as GPRS, not sure how accurate it can be though and you will probably be charged downloading data. I'm quite sure that the Viva has no GPS receiver hence not able to use the real GPS function.

Based on your little usage, my advice would be, if you are not going to show off your new, branded, very expensive, high-end PDA, just buy a cheaper but still good one such as the Asus P750 suggested earlier or the HTC P3600i (old model but value for money). The additional money can be used to buy a standalone GPS device to further test your software, if it's applicable (should be RM300-500 now, I think. I'm so not sensitive about the pricing). However, if you want to show off, the slim, very nicely designed Touch Diamond is the perfect tool that meets all your requirements including budget.

As for the memory, internal 4GB is more than enough to meet your storage requirements. Say 1GB for applications and the rest for music files ripped at the mentioned quality, you can easily store 500 songs already.

At least another 3 months before you see majoring price decrease on the TD as HTC is yet to announce any new models after the HD. Announcement or news leak often comes before a new model's release.

Asus P750, oh really? Good thing u did your research, I have played with it for 1 whole days 6 months back, it went well for me but didn't seal the deal eventually for its not-so-attractive-to-me exterior design.

its not a emulator but it actually is a program that uses data connection like wifi and/or 3g/ or gprs to pinpoint yr location

and in no way it can be used without aforementioned data connection

hope it helps

Hmm, fancy a touch screen or just a smartphone?

If you want a keypad with a qwerty, the best to look at is the S740 ( Smartphone ). smile.gif
