If you have a good qwerty software like Cootek's TouchPal , it actually works better than QWERTY Keypad, minus the physical button touch feel. Also QWERTY keypad is never user friendly for one hand operation and may not be as finger friendly as you thought. It is good to try it out yourselve a physically writing a long email to know and you will need to slide the QWERTY for each message you entering which is not very inconvenient, so eventually it become redundant.

HSDPA is 3.5g that has download speed upto 7.2mb that averaging at 1mb ~ 1.5mb on Celcom depending on your location. if not, get one with at least EDGE support. It is good to have it if you going to dependent on your ppc to online.

Front Camera: Yes / No
Gaming Type: Light gaming
Screen Resolution: VGA (or higher)
My needs - I'm a uni student and i don't own a laptop, so i'm planing to buy my 1st pda or smart phone as substitute. i'll be frequently reading e-books and pdf and be using my pda or smart phone to surf using campus wifi. So i need a phone which doesn't lag when i scroll or enlarge stuffs and when surfing. (i got a psp, it's not a bad ebook reader but don't have touch screen and the internet browser is TOO DAMN SLOW)
My head is starting to hurt, there are sooo many brands out there and there are tiers some more
Sry if my budget is too high and demand is too much
, it's my 1st time, pls be gentle
Thx in advance!!!

If your main usage is reading and surfing, you should get one that support HSDPA and has good screen resolution of at least WQVGA with microSD support to expand your storage. As a student, I believe you would want to consider the resale value for your set too as techie gadget upgrade quickly and you may want to upgrade sometime soon.Gaming Type: Light gaming
Screen Resolution: VGA (or higher)

My recommendations are as follows with my opinion on each of them
i. HTC Touch HD - Click here for the spec

Pro : It has the biggest screen resolution - 480 x 800 pixels, 3.8 inches among the rest with all the required functions
Con : No QWERTY keypad and the price is at top range as it is newly launched. Should be about RM3k+ now.
ii. HTC Touch Pro - Click here for the spec

Pro : It has QWERTY keypad and is one of the slimest and not too bulky /heavy. The major drawback of QWERTY keypad ppc.
Con : Price at top range as it is launched not long ago. Even 2nd hand set is nearing max of your budget.
iii. Samsung Omnia - Click here for the spec

Pro : Most trendy design with almost iPhone look alike, fit hand nicely and not bulky. 5MB Camera with Flash. The most reasonable pricing among the 3.
Con : Still relative new name in ppc phone but growing popularity fast.
As a first time ppc user, you may like to consider buying a used set to get yourselve familiar and really play with it. You will not lose as much if you get a newly launch model or newly used set from well known brand like HTC (world biggest ppc manufacturer).
