QUOTE(ar188 @ Jul 9 2008, 01:42 PM)
seriously got very big audible difference ar? whether to decode audio in amp or in PS3?  or are we just being overtly anal about it?  biggrin.gif
*
What anal? Nobody's being anal here. Only politicians do that. tongue.gif

Somebody was asking about it, and I provided the info. The only deoference is the so called jittery effects, which only the true audiophile or a sound engineer can tell the difference, even that with the help with some gadget to detect it.

Personally I don't care, that's why I'm not really hoping. But if it's available, why not? Seeing those DTS-HD MA/Dolby TrueHD lights up will make me smile. smile.gif

QUOTE(mpyw @ Jul 9 2008, 01:46 PM)
Don't think got different....but people just wanna see their ELITE receiver's TrueHD or DTS-MA lights come out tongue.gif
*
True also. Me one of them. tongue.gif

QUOTE(simonst @ Jul 9 2008, 01:58 PM)
Yes very true. Downloading firmware now, will check later if TrueHD or DTS-MA lights come out.
*
Nope, it will not light up. What will light up is the 7.1 channel input for DTS-HD MA 7.1 BDs, which showed 5.1 before. wink.gif

I already knew what that means lah, my remarks was just a joke...

No harm to discuss anything related to BDs and/or PS3 here, no matter how many times. There are many new people that's just embraced BLU, this will be helpful to them...

Grains are natural to movies shot on analogue film (which means around 95% of movies that exists now). It's the chemical and the physical properties of the negatives that give this effects.

So when you see movies that was shot on film but missing the grains, they were digitally cleaned. This will make the video look digital, and in some cases of bad cleaning job, the video may look plastic and fake.

On contrary, there are some movies that was shot digitally (i.e. Miami Vice), artificial grain was intentionally added to make the picture look more realistic. biggrin.gif

Wy you guys are buying BDs with no lossless audio? Might as well just get a DVD for normal Dolby Digital.

My rules for buying BD:

1. 1080p full HD picture
2. Lossless audio
3. Good movie

Preferably BD50 too.

Only with those rules I can see my purchase is worth it.

To me the first 2 rules are the most important at this stage and format, because good movie can also be found on VCDs. So if you're getting the BD, why compensate the things that make the format special in the first place?

Be careful of those voices. laugh.gif

I would rather wait. biggrin.gif

It's almost certain that new special editions of these non-lossless audio titles coming sooner or later. I'm not that elite to buy again and again. tongue.gif
