Mine 1 is not Eagle Pack Holistic, mine 1 is premium. I got it from 1 pet shop at Klang. The pet shop make themselves 1, cause more people like to buy 3KG, so they package 3KG 1 themselves loo. But, if your furkid liek it, 7KG 1 also ok, except you plan to try only~~ smile.gif

My Choi Choi seems ok with the Eagle Pack Lamb and Rice, I am not sure want to let her test another brand or not. She very picky, sometimes she don't want to eat~~ =.=|| But we feed her 1 and a half cup every meal. biggrin.gif

Buying dog food not just cheaper few RM just buy from them. Some pet shop have giving great service like friendly service , advise, free sample, help you carry dog food to the car, per order, dog food catalog, and accept credit card without extra charge.

Just my opinion only, I think open talk about the selling price for dog food might not so good. if open talk about customer service between pet shop and customer, it might look better. Just ingore after read.OK

Where you from?
You can try getting dog food from a few shops depends on where you live

1. Petshack - more info: www.petshack.com.my
The owner comes to this forum so you can message her to chat and check stock before purchasing

2. Seapark Pet Supplies - this is something I personally recommend as the uncle of this shop is very knowledgable and has a wide selection of product. This shop is in SS2, same row with Poh Kong.

Actually, about price, petshops won't like seeing price being discussed coz the suppliers would be angry if they find out. Coz there is a market price already, and if there is some petshop that is giving extremely discounted price, it may cause and up roar. This is just what I think lah. Each petshop has their own pricing due to rent, location and customer service.

Mine Eaglepack chicken for puppy 3kg, RM46.

7kg pack is like selling at the same price only. I think 10kg onwards will help you to save some money. laugh.gif

That also depends on how many tight containers do you have.

crazymouse_yyh said is right, If have enjoy the special discount from pet shop, that pet shop might not like let everyone know. Because they not do to other customer. To who was get special discount, should not to let people know about it. other else pet shop dog food business might hard to do.

Since a lot of people want to know how much the discount range Let me tell you about basic discount for dog food.
Wholesale price cannot tell
Area dealer might get 20-25%, buy 10 free 1, or that the basic. and payment term 45 day, 60 day. Some stupid pet shop try do more discount range for sell more and get the free bag and make everyone no profit. If do many discount, how to do business anymore. Need take care the pet shop and supplier, without them your dog might get supermarket dog food.

I m not sure as I am a newbie on dog ownership. Just adopted a Miniature Schnauzer from my buddy! He was providing them with Canidae and I switched it to Evangers. I bought from Sea Park Pet Supplies.

i just ask the royal canin kibbles for puppy.
2.5kg cost RM 56 is it cheap o not??
*
My puppy also eating royal canin (mini junior) since he was 2months until now 6months already.
There are 2 types of royal canin food: veterinary (only sold by vet clinics) and non-veterinary (sold by pet shops).
Veterinary pack is better because it has thyroxine which is good for dog's skin and coat according to the vet in the clinic. I bought at RM68 for 4.5kg at Maju Animal Clinic in Melaka. If am not mistaken, the 2.5kg is sold at RM48. Usually i buy the 4.5kg one because it is cheaper.

The brownish stain comes from saliva.... Kibbles play a role, especially kibbles with brewer's yeast. Now I feed kibbles without yeast, Innova Evo, no problem. Of course my dog is not MS, but she gets brownish mouth coz her mouth is white. The stains would appear after eating kibbles with brewer's yeast.

Hi fresh_ideas,

Yes, i bought it from my friend who's a small breeder himself. thumbup.gif

For blackwood, i got it from another friend. He's rearing 6 dogs and need to replenish his dog's food regularly. So, he always buy in big lots and manage to get a very good price. thumbup.gif

anyone can recommend where to buy Blackwood Puppy at reasonable price ah ? Today when i called the distributor they told me to go to Pets4u in Bandar Puteri and i ended up paying 50+ for a 3.6kg when i understand i should be able to get it for around 45-46. Anyone know where else i can get it nearby puchong ah ? imho pets4u sells things expensive. The other place i go to is reasonable but they don't sell blackwood.

oh forgot to mention reason, it is fungus which cause infection. cats are very sensitive to food. till now only Orijen can fuifill them. for dog it wont be so sensitive. We stopped Blackwood then and give Eagle Pack, Orijen, and Artemis.

For me Blackwood is just too cheap. If small breed which dont eat much should go for better brands. it wont cost a lot.

Any proof from the professionals? There are many reason leads to fungus, and are you sure that your cat only consume blackwood and nothing else for at least 3 months and that makes your cat allergy and scratches till the skin "weak" where bacteria take chances to grow and create the fungus? =)

Blackwood still the average food, better then a lot brand out there. Although I would say blackwood puppy and 2000 is not a great choice, because of the poultry meal, but the catfish & potato is actually kinda good already...

my friend recommended me to Blackwood as his dogs are eating them so i try lor. Was feeding my puppy Eukanuba but i wanna change his food as his poo is ultra smelly. Money for dog food isn't an issue for me just that i don't wanna end up buying it at unreasonable price.

What should be a good choice for 8 month old min pin ?

I hate to sound insulting, but you strike me as one of those who blindly believe in what the 'professionals' says, the kind that will swallow hook, line and sinker, everything said by them. I wonder how much experience you have with animals and dealings with your so-called professionals. You are also sadly ignorant about the state of animal 'professionalism' and most things related to animals here. Why do I dare openly say this to you? Please update yourself on the reality of the animal world in Malaysia, if you do not know already.

FYI, I have dealt with vets so often that at one time, I was making 2 to 3 trips weekly, sometimes more. Of course, at that time, I was also blindly 'professionaling' the vets, like you are doing, thinking they are so great and know so much. At the risk of sounding arrogant, let me tell you what one vet, who is overseas now and holds a masters degree, said (quote), "You know more about animals than some vets." So there. Needless to say, this vet knows the number of animals that we have and that we will spare no expense when it comes to their welfare. We also make sure we read up and communicate with animal health experts in Australia and the USA.

At that time of the fungus problem, we asked the vet who was attending to our animals to send the food to a lab for testing. She told us there were no such facilities here. We asked her to look to Singapore but with procrastinatination and dragging of feet, the food had to be thrown away because there were too many weevils. FYI, we handed the whole bucket of food to her at the onset of the problem. So, tell me, where is the professional handling of this? Even a vet doesn't seem interested, so what are our chances of getting proof (which you asked for)? Do you think that this is Australia, US, UK....etc where animals are valued and are treated as life with rights, not just an 'animal', where animal laws are strictly enforced?

Presently, we are still waiting for the postmortem results relating to the suspected Orijen food problem. It's been more than a month now but fortunately, this time our vet, Dr Irinda Toh, is more efficient. At least, she has done her part and is now waiting for the results. She is a true professional, a one in a million.

We don't blindly feed our animals. Every scoop that I put into their bowl, I scrutinize. That is how we know that there are 'added ingredients' in it. We saw it but being dumb at that time (about 3 years back) we thought it was tissue paper. The food was not expired yet (about 2 to 3 months more). So, please, I do know what I fed my cats. My cats at that time ate Blackwood because I was selling Blackwood. That food is not top of the range, but it's average (I believe that's the only thing you've written that I agreed on). It was lessons like this that made us look more closely at what we feed the animals (although they are not purebreed but are still valued as being entitled to a good and quality life).

Even now, we find small bits of string, plastic, even the tip of a glove, small clumps of dust, even worms, in the food. Recently, a batch of food we're feeding our cats had a strange smell and the supplier's vet also verified that. Our cats rejected the food and many of them vomitted. On the average, our animals' reaction to food is quite immediate as we need to open a bag of 8 kg food for them every 1 1/2 days. Even suppliers are surprised that we can see small foreign items in food. Why not, when we scrutinize. That is why, we are considering switching all nearly 200 of them (dogs and cats) to raw meat as it is still the best food. They had been on raw meat before, all of them, but it was too costly (although the supplier gave us a special rate) and many of the cats did not like the food.

So please do not assume that we did not do what we should have done and that we were just simply shooting our mouth about pet food. Whatever it is, I'm glad to say that my business relationship with Blackwood supplier, who is also supplying Regal, is very good. We do not blame them as they also have no control over the food which is imported. Naturally, at that time that it happened, we were pretty mad and wild as quite a number of kittens/cats died and many suffered.

It was a harrowing time for us and nightmarish as well but it was indeed a blessing in disguise. It was then that we ventured into homeopathy and we managed to save our last 3 kittens then with it. Until today, we prefer to use homeopathic professionalism.

We don't claim to be experts on matters relating to animals but I believe that we have looked after so many animals to the best of ability and more than our affordability that I know what I'm talking about. I don't simply find fault with petfood or anyone but please do your homework before you post anything.

FYI I glance through but I did not read every line. I think you mistaken that I was shooting you? More information is good regarding the claim of blackwood create fungus on your cat. Now you have explained it that is great. Plus, I did not ask for proof from vets. Are vets the only professionals? You can claim yourself professional too =)

I agree, the vet locally don't really know about their things sometimes LOL.. And oh yah, you sounds like I pray the vet like god, but you are wrong wink.gif I realized the vet don't know much at times laugh.gif About testing the food, you can directly send it to lab like UPM or other private lab, don't have to go through the vet.

BTW I am no way near insulting you.. but I was asking dongdong in the first place, and yes I felt that you insult me nod.gif

Anyway, back to talk about pricing for kibbles.

Good that at last we can agree on something. nod.gif

I wasn't insulting you. In case you didn't know, dongdong was referring to our cats, although we're not his boss. The fungus was in the food, not on the cats. It was toxicity in the food resulting in severe jaundice.

yes sorry that i created misunderstandings. i was too busy to write details but i think i need to mention this to ppl as it is severe case. As Ruth said, the fungus is in the food but not on cat skin. cats are very sensitive but not as ppl said got "9 life". to me their are half life or chinese calls one leg in coffin all the life. single small mistake will take their life. so fungus cause some cats die at the time.

For same price range, i would recognize Regal as we havent seen any foreign object whether life stock or plastics in the food. Why want to take more risk on same price food? We just want to share and alert consumers that what they should know. smile.gif

from my experience vets sell Blackwood, sure they say it is better. you try to ask wat food is the best, they sure say Hill's, they are distributor in Malaysia. It is bloody expensive for its price.

Blackwood is good for breeders, as it increase productivity greatly, but somehow reduce health. Imagine you eat pills and give birth 10 babies, how terrible.

Not all vet are business minded lah. I'm lucky to meet a good vet, he did not recommend me any kibbles and don't think he sells blackwood too.
He told me so b'cos i asked him about Regal. he NEVER recommend me Hills before. If you ask, he recommend Blackwood for affordability. cannot expect everyone to feed expensive kibbles smile.gif

n about Blackwood is good for breeders, never heard before. What's the reason and facts behind?

I thought regal and BW different manufacturer. Just same distributor (actually different company, brothers) in Malaysia.. haha so both brand is different. I think I saw before places selling BW not carring Regal.

yes only little vets are not money minded, Dr.Toh is the one i met. She is master holder, UPM lead lecturer, but just driving an old Saga. She want knowledge and good for animal, if you claim you are rescuer, she will charge lower price. A really kind hearted ppl. But not for her boss, Dr,Ding who is bloody money minded.

Blackwood and Regal belongs to same company, just that each brother in charge one brand. ANF also their products. BW can make more productive you have to find it on packaging. I dont remember dog or cat or any series, that time i search also dont have. But we saw that before.

yktan, are you sure RM49? dont have discount? Artemis is giving introductory discount 15% whole Malaysia, you must have been cheated.

from my experience i see most dog doing well with Artemis. If you want harder poo, give Bio-EcoPet which is rich in good bacteria and enzymes that help digestion.

I'm feeding By Nature Natural Puppy. I bought a 2.72kg pack for RM49.90.

The review for dog food analysis is here:-
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_re...uct=963&cat=all

Does anyone else use this brand?
Any idea where I can go to stock up on it as the last place I bought it from is now out of stock - I guess because its slow moving compared to the normal brands.

JoYeeC, Plaza Damas is located near Desa Sri Hartamas. From the direction of Kerinchi link, at the junction where you turn left into Desa Sri Hartamas (Soul'd Out, Finnegans, Kiwi Express), turn right instead and turn left and the next T-junction and go straight. Plaza Damas will be on your left after a short distance.

Cut the barcode out and keep for 10 barcode. Then bring to any shop that sell Evo and claim it. I heard this programme will expired in 2013
