i oso dunno where is the photo i bluetooth it from n85 to my n95.
not really big problem but i find the detail loss after compression. n95 has better details if were to compare side by side in the PC. and the AMOLED screen, no doubt it is beautiful, doesnt show the same way when take picture. in the phone screen itself, there noises... lots of them. but when transfer back to pc, the noise is not that bad, only thing i found out is the detail.

then when i take picture, even i switch off the flash, it still uses the light. not sure if it is as flash or guidance, but it is sure annoying. for me at least.

my bet it is the firmware's problem. not the hardware. so i hope there is a firmware update to kawtim it

So you didn't face the problem like flares and blurry as in the link i posted?
About the flash, I don't know much about it but maybe the light is as guidance and allow your camera to get focus on certain point. Maybe you try to change the scene option (night mode?) and try again?

I dont really know if that itself is a problem. Its just normal to have ghost image if you took picture of moving objects. That is down to the shutter timing and if its slow, you are bound to have that.

If Im not mistaken, nowadays high end Nokia phone has ISO setting. Play with the ISO setting to reduce the noise.

Dont expect these to perform as a digital camera. After all, they serve their purpose.

Does this mean that the camera software is unable to select the optimum shutter speed for the situation? Compression is software-based too, no? Other than that, there are no other hardware issues plaguing the camera for the N85?

Since the problems may be solved thru a firmware update, does Nokia release updates very frequently?

N96 firmware has been updated few times since it launch, so I dont think Nokia will forget the N85 also.

A few questions here regarding buying N85 AP set

1. Are we able to update firmware on our own? (over the air)
2. Does is come bundled with 8GB memory card?
3. Are you able to use ovi such as Nokia Maps, n-gage etc?

Just got my hands onto a N85 just now.
LOL... quite impressed but I think it will suit gal better as the size is small.

1. Keys - the feedback is good but since the size is small, keys that are located to the edge feel hard to press down for me. My wife smaller fingers has no problem. The best feature has to be the keylock/unlock button at the side. Nokia has learn something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. UI - I think compared to my last N70, its much faster. I used my friend's N73ME before and I think its much fluid with animation as well.

3. Camera - Took a couple pictures. Im impressed with the night shot that I did in my car after getting the phone just now. Pretty good for a phone camera. As for the noise, I think Nokia set the ISO pretty high. Its very noticeable when taking shot of white background/stuffs (ie. my Acer Gemstone keyboard). I think Nokia firmware can fix this problem if many user complaint about it.

Im doing more test on the camera.

As you can see from the pictures, having high ISO add too much noise to the picture. However since the ISO setting is limited, there is not much choice to choose from but I would say these pictures are pretty good. If you compare the pic taken using Auto mode vs my noflash-highiso, the noise is similar, just that its brighter making the noise more noticeable. The filesize also doubled when using high iso which is crazy because it does nothing but adding a lot of noise to the picture. Camera phone is just for taking fun pic and was never meant to replace digicam by any mean.

I have say the slider is pretty good compared to 6500s. N96 slider probably more tight than N85 but that doesn't mean it's poor. The package is same with 8gb card and the ngage stuff. I'm typing this using this phone. Using wireless. It's kinda hard to use for me due to the size of the keys. Secondly it's because i have long fingernail to use with my M600. One bad thing about the accelerometer is the dimming of the keypad when rotate to side.

“Audio themes feature allows you to personalize the user interface sounds of your phone. Audio themes are offered in packages which contain several sound files of a common theme. The packages contain usually the normal profile sounds (e.g. ringing tones, message alerts, clock alert, calendar alarm) but also sounds for phone handling (e.g. fold open, fold close) and menu events (enter menu, leave menu).

Your phone supports audio themes if you can find this icon in the menu (personalization/themes). If your phone supports audio themes you can download additional theme packages from this page.”
