Bar Course, Bar Exam?

Well, isnt that the new thing they want to replace CLP with ? As for MMU, their 1st graduates already out for...erm like half a year and they has yet to receive recognization...How long should you be waiting? The qualification and confirmation might take ages of time. Why dont you consider other colleges at the meantime? They might failed to get the qualification...  tongue.gif
P.s: Anyone familiar with UK Twinning ? Got some questions here unsure.gif
*
Well as per my conversation with the councilor, she said the application was submitted on Sept 08 and awaiting confirmation.
Perhaps it would take ages, or perhaps it can be known this year itself, nobody knows.

I am with Penang ATC right now. I have heard many stories about people failing the CLP exams, some up to 7 times. shocking.gif
I personally have a friend who have failed 3 times, and he is a bright student. I feel it is bias as those from gov unis are exempted from it.

I have found that apart from gov unis, NUS is exempted from CLP as well. Can anyone confirm this?

Why exampt local graduates from CLP?
NUS exempted from CLP 1
NUS exempted from CLP 2

i think it's posted on the first page of this thread, but pls view http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/admission_requirements.html

yes, it is probably not a good thing that certain local unis are exempted from it, hence the proposed cbe. im quite amused at how many ppl have harped on the fact that the clp is hard to pass. if the opportunity to take it arises for me, i shall see what the fuss is about...

I get that from BAC pathway chart. After the UOL external straight to CLP, never point to BVC also. After UK transfer degree then it point to BVC.

So, taking A level now or LLB 1st year? I heard if you are going for MMU, you need to start over from foundation(albeit you passed A level)

And yes, NUS is exempted from CLP.But the percentage of getting into NUS is like... 1%?Unless your results are superbly good cos it's too competitive.

It's recognized by Bar, so you can take BVC after external.

Anyway, alsree, did you ever heard of the 12 dinner for BVC? unsure.gif

i am doing a 2+1, currently in my year2.

i wana ask whether choosing an U in my final year is it decisive for employment in future?

in other words is reputation of an U that important for an employer to look at??

If you are studying at BAC, I believe they will advise you on which uni to go to.

In my personal opinion, which uni you graduate from is not important, what is important is your ability to win cases.

But if I am an employer, I will definitely prefer a UOL grad.

no it is not decisive. if ur uni is not an ivy or top uni, as long as it is reputable, most employers will focus more on your own natural abilities to excel in whatever field u are in. but then again, you may encounter those few who are concerned with uni rankings and reputation, or prefer the uol llb ext....

for me, i consider everything in totality. for law, your qualifications mean squat to me if u dun have a good command of language...

but i am assuming your speaking of malaysia.

...and im also interested to know why fr33dom would prefer a uol ext llb grad...

This is my personal opinion only (take it with a grain of salt)

In the shoe of an employer, comparing the list of unis offered in 2+1 programs,

1) UOL has a higher reputation
2) UOL is harder to get through

But this does not mean that a UOL grad is more superior than his counterparts.

When it comes to winning cases, it all depends on his/her ingenuity. smile.gif

It's much depends on where you plan to work.Like alsree786 said it is not decisive if you are planning to work in Malaysia.Yet, it's pretty decisive if you are planning to work oversea.A lot of the employers opt for those graduating from reputable uni.Beside that, they will look at your results.
