All lights are off. Color of wall is a little bit creamy and projector is around 14'6" away from wall. Projected image around 106"wide so it's around 120-122" diagonal.
When the image is bright, it looks very nice but once the image becomes a bit darker, then the whole image looks washed out.
On my monitor or TV when the image looks washed out it is due to brightness too high. So normally if i view 16:9 images on TV the blackbars will be slightly washed out and i will reduce the brightness until the black becomes real black. But using the projector, no matter what i do, the black is still washed out and reducing brightness or increasing contrast don't help.

Hmm lemme try to find the DVD first. YCS - you r using plywood with paint only right? Do you have the problem i mention? You get good 'blacks' or washed out blacks? Need ur feedback on this. Thanks My carpenter put a layer of white PVC sticker (same as those found on cabinet surface) on top of the plywood for me. So i can project the image on the plywood itself or wrap it with cloth. Haven't had time to test out the screen yet. Will post my findings soon.

Hmm, never thought about reflections. THen i think no choice have to find something to wrap around it or paint with matte paint If all else fails then have to buy a screen liao lor. Where to find 7' x 7' screen for RM250? hehe.

Both me and my gf experience RBE the first time we auditioned the PJ. My GF say her eyes felt strained. Now after 2 weeks i barely notice anything. Every time i watch movies i will try to find rainbows but i have to move my eyes left and right very fast only can see a bit. My GF oso no complaints already. So i think our eyes have certain mechanism to adjust itself to get used to RBE Really no regrets getting this PJ lah. It's a whole new experience to watching movies. Frens and family who saw the 120" image on the wall are filled with awe. Hehe, it's fun to see their face when they saw the image. Keep on saying it's like in the cinema. All wanting to come back for more and don wan to go back home haha. It's 300% better than watching on a 40" LCD becoz 120" / 40" = 300% bigger hehe. Hmm good question. They never sat down through the whole 2 hrs movie and I never asked them if they saw any rainbows hehe. Coz my house in a mess, they came to visit and i just showed them for maybe 5 mins only. Forgot to ask about rainbows. Next time i'll ask

QUOTE Some people perceive these rainbow artifacts all of the time, while others say they only see them when they let their eyes pan across the image. I think this is very important. If you can see rainbow all the time then this PJ is definitely not for u. my case is the latter where i only see it when i pan my eyes across the image. According to dunno which statistics, only 5% of the world population can see rainbows and i think those who can see it all the time shud be lesser and those who will have headache and vomit will be much lesser. But out of 5% me and my gf already can see it. So to be on the safe side better try it out urself. One more thing i read on the internet, some ppl initially won't see it, but if you purposely go and find it you might find it and after u found it u're stuck with it forever hehe.

Wah so happy to see more and more ppl join the hd65 family. Shall we have a HD65 club where we can bring our hd65 out to show off in mamak like those PSP gathering or BMW gathering? hahaha. Then maybe we can show how we modified the PJ or how we calibrate it hahaha

Laowai fast fast show some screenshots. Aiyah so paiseh, i haven't posted any screenshots after having the unit for 2 weeks liao I set all RGB G/B to 0 and i think i m getting a more natural color on the wall. hehe. One question, i accidentally smudged the lens with my finger while moving the projector. Tried using micro fibre, tissue, wet tissue and even glass cleaner to clean the lens but it's still oily. May i know how u all clean the lens? I know the lens is made of glass, that's why i dare to clean it, i've checked and there are no scratches hehe. But scary lah. Just wan to clean the oily smudge lah. But it's normal to have a white patch on the lens when the PJ is on right? A very bright patch where u can see a lot of dust hehe.

Projector is ok bro. Enjoying it every night with 720p feeds. Missus enjoying latest season of Desperate Housewives, CSI, Numb3rs etc @ 720p @ 120" hehehe. Clocked almost 30hrs already. Forgot to switch off twice already coz ter-sleep. Luckily aircond room, left it on for 7-8 hrs Screen project on hold for a while. Due to minor reno, have to move my masterbedroom into the HT room. Once i free up the HT room i'll get the screen up. Now a bit itchy ass wan to modify my 106" screen to 110", have to add 2" wood to left, right and bottom of the screen. Going from 120" to 106" will be potong steam, so decided to go for 110" , in the middle hehe. But still haven't buy kain for the projector. Most prob will go for the ebay wan if i decided to buy. I m downloading the manual right now. It's a phreaking 29mb file '

Input and output is different, The PJ accepts 1080p signals and Downscale it to 720p or 1080i, it works like Upscaling lower quality image to 720p only the other way around But some say 1080i is better and some say native 720p will produce sharper image. Personally i prefer native Hehe i don have tv, HD65 is my only source of entertainment, so now i watch everthing in it I only have STD and BRIGHT mode. How to choose ECO mode ar? Try to burn in ur projector. Don treat it so nice. Switch it on a few times a day, move it around, swing it up and down. Torture it 9 9. Once u make it past 100hrs ur unit will be immuned to all destructions alike. Invincible Disclaimer: The above mentioned are for reference only. I will not be held responsible for ur hd65 whatsoever

The first week i bought the unit, twice i had the problem where when i switch on the unit, i get 3 red LEDs and the unit won't start. Have to switch on/off a few times only it'll on again. I m not sure if it's heat problem coz my room a bit hot that time. Now every nite i on aircond and projector together no more problem liao. Scare scare hehe
