Thanks for the price htkaki. DIY is a good idea. But wat material to use? Any cloth can do? I m thinking of getting a plywood or something smooth and paint it with white/gray paint hehe. Can get a lot of paint mixtures online that's suitable for PJs but dunno where to start lah.

Actually my living room wall is a little little bit greyish already. But problem is wall not smooth. Will the rough surface of the wall be very very obvious if i just project the image on the wall itself?

Thanks rx330, i'll try to look around for cheap cheap screen materials hehe. Must it be cloth? I've just got an idea but dunno feasible or not keke.

It will be expensive to get a big piece of wood that is 64"x96" right? So can i use plaster ceiling board? I can ask the plaster ceiling contractor to help right? They can fix a few boards together to get the size i want and I just frame it up or something lah. Then can hang on the wall ma. They can make the surface very very smooth wan right? hehe. Is it workable ar?

But end of the day i still think its a bit weird to have a fixed screen on the living room. I m thinking of having a retractable screen so that i can hide a LCD TV behind the screen or something. When not using PJ can still watch LCD TV, if wan to use PJ just pull the screen down. hehe

But this will be very expensive ler. Sigh, such dilemma lah. sad.gif

Will the plywood leave a lot of tiny tiny holes on the surface after soaking up the paint? I was thinking of using plywood and paint but afraid that the surface will be very uneven to produce a good and smooth surface.

A big thanks to htkaki for letting me audition the hd65. Honestly i m impressed with the image quality and my gf who does not believe 'big picture can be clear' was equally impressed if not more hehe.

Problem is with the rainbow effect. Me and my gf were one of the unlucky ones who can see rainbow. But it was at the beginning that I've noticed very strong rainbow effect. During the later part of the audition I m not sure whether i've got used to it or i forgot to notice 'coz bz looking at good quality pictures hehe'

Is it possible to be cured from the rainbow thingy or can the eye adjust itself to get used to the effect?

Anyway i'll be joining this big family next month 'hopefully'. Now have to find screen , keep money for ps3 and htsf2300 + BDs hehehe. Headache, headache. biggrin.gif

Once again thanks everyone who has helped me and a big thanks to htkaki for letting me audition a few tvs and his precious hd65 hehe.

To all hd65 gurus. I have some question regarding output from PC to HD65. I have an old PC P4 2.8ghz and a dinosaur graphics card ATI Radeon 9100. Video card has VGA, DVI and S-Video.

I know I can hook up VGA straight to hd65. Will this give me 1280x720 native? What is the quality difference compared to DVI-VGA or DVI-HDMI Using converters? I m not sure if DVI-HDMI is workable? How about S-Video to Component using converter?

With all the options listed above, which would be the best quality? Or do i have to get a new PC/Graphics card with HDMI out?

I read online that it is possible to Upscale DVDs using FFDShow filter on the PC. Will it be possible to upscale normal avi, rmvb files also? The PC will serve as my main multimedia player b4 i get a PS3. biggrin.gif

Just found a perfect Video card for HTPC. Ati HD3450, Only around RM120. Perfect for DVI-HDMI output for 720p and 1080p. I think i'll get this and pair it up with my good ol' P42.8Ghz and I've got myself a low profile HTPC ready for HD65 kekekekeke.

I would advice that you go for normal Desktop HTPC. I had previously used low profile and the biggest issue is the power supply is non standard ATX PSU and second is due to the slim profile, you can't install 120mm fan. 80mm and 60mm is quite noisy. For HTPC, you want low fan noise.

Actually I meant to say Low-End, but mistakenly said low profile hehe. I m using normal Desktop as HTPC.

I said the card is perfect becoz it only costs rm100 and it supports full HD out biggrin.gif

htkaki, see you next weekend ar biggrin.gif

Mega: 6 moon only hit 80jam ar. If i 1 day use 2 jam 6 moon = 360 jam liao leh. Mega still bachelor ar? keke, i thot he's married with 2 kids liao tongue.gif

A little info to support why HD3450 is good for building a HTPC. It's the lowest end of the new ATi 3xxx card. I bought one for RM100 oni hehe. But have to get DVI > HDMI converter for around RM2x.

Bro one quick question.

For building a 106" Diagonal screen, the measurement is 92"x52", so will it be sufficient if i buy a 94"x54" screen? If not how big shud i need ar?

94"x54" only USD39.99

108"x54" is USD44.99

112"x60" is USD49.99 can build up to 115" screen hehe.
