QUOTE(moosset @ Oct 11 2019, 01:03 AM) percentage is useless la wei..... it's the amount that matters! anyway, I plan to balance it to 60% soon .... but I'm also worried. Looks like u can start deploying some of the spare cash..macam a trade deal is happening.. Probably a temporary one, but that's good enough. My view is that a global recession is in the horizon, but there is usually a last hurrah before that. So hoping this is it.

QUOTE(donhay @ Oct 11 2019, 11:41 AM) Keeping cash in where wor? can share share ideas? This is OT.. My preferred place is in Flexi Housing Current Account, which is easy to access. I also keep some cash in USD FD, earning peanuts interest, but protects against MYR depreciation. N as I mentioned in this forum before, I also hold Gold which I consider as cash in my portfolio. Gold has 0 interest but protects against currency depreciation and high inflation. This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Oct 11 2019, 04:40 PM

Next dates to watch out for in terms of interest rates.
Fed FOMC Meeting : 30 Oct 19. Market expectation is still high that Fed will make another 25bp cut.
Followed by BNM last MPC meeting of the year on 5 Nov where BNM will decide to hold or cut the OPR.

QUOTE(moosset @ Oct 16 2019, 11:03 PM) Thanks for sharing. Will be waiting for the news... Looks like a Fed cut is coming. US market is now betting 91.4% of a Fed cut end of this month. N so far the Fed has not dissapointed the market. Q then is will BNM follow on 5 Nov? Unfortunately in Malaysia we don't hv similar indicators like US. But today I see MY banks dropped n m-reits up.. Signs our market also thinks a cut is coming?

Fed has cut rate again as expected and they are expected to pause now. Since my last post, Banks r up, bonds n reits down and MYR appear to strengthen. All pointing to no rate cut by BNM next week.
Maybank now 8.60..buy..😆

QUOTE(Jordy @ Nov 1 2019, 11:36 AM) I have been averaging down a few batches but now my average cost is still 9.00, but I don't mind that much as I know I am still getting above 6% dividend. I have been accumulating too. My average cost is a nice 8.88. So it's negative 3+%. Im expecting final dividend in May next year to be at least 30 sen.

QUOTE(bmwcaddy @ Nov 4 2019, 04:25 PM) Not inclusive of fees is about 8.90 here, oh well, seems like we are all on the same ship. The only upside is the dividend seems to be consistent Well, if dividend same as ASB, I happy already. Capital upside is "bonus". This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Nov 5 2019, 01:27 AM

QUOTE(moosset @ Nov 5 2019, 12:58 PM) wah, really? Everything 6% return is good? then no need to buy a lot of stocks. Just all in EPF, and for cash, just keep buying Amanah saham. U mean the magic fixed price Amanah Saham right? That's not cash. N I don't believe in magic, bomoh, homeopathy etc. However, it's the very magic ASB (not the lower level magic Amanah Saham open for the Nons.. Lol) which is my personal benchmark to beat.. Average 10 year annual return of 8.145%. Cumulative total return of 118% for past 10 years. Easy to beat or not?? I see the other non magic professional Malaysian fund managers all fail spectacularly to beat this. 😆 But good thing is that my benchmark return is declining haha.. QUOTE(bmwcaddy @ Nov 5 2019, 09:31 AM) Noob question here, but whats your minimum units purchased each transactions (to utilize the brokerage fee)? i suppose most of the people here uses Maybank Trade? (Or not) For me I try to max the low brokerage using cash upfront account, so at least 1000 shares. I don't use Maybank IB tho..

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Nov 7 2019, 10:06 AM) When openly declared you made so much from the stock market, this is called boasting. And there will be people like me, who would have a look see if the numbers are remotely accurate. That's from Maybank itself. Since you bought in March 2008, that means your exact total dividend since March 2008 should have been 597.50 sen per lot. or 17925.00 for 3 lots. A difference of 4880.25 from your earlier calculation. Lucky got auditor.. 😆

QUOTE(moosset @ Nov 7 2019, 03:22 PM) even Maybank?? I thought M'sia was quite unaffected? Did Maybank invest in the US or Lehman Brothers? BoA? Merrill Lynch? It was doomsday scenario, Banks in developed markets were collapsing. If developed market economy collapse, u think we will be safe? Fortunately, US n China coordinated n pumped a lot of money into the system.. Which then resulted in asset bubbles, like for eg our own property bubble..

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Nov 7 2019, 04:31 PM) There wasn't anything worth trading since end 2006 during that time. Nothing worth trading at all. So come 2008, there were few things that stirred the market. 1. The collapse of Maybank in 2008, on MARCH 2008. (ahem ... yalor... March 2008 ) I can remember fairly well but if I make any mistake..aiyoh...pls do correct me. Something else happened in March 2008, it was General Elections. First time ever since May 13 1969 that BN lost 2/3 majority. So when market opened on Monday KLCI started crashing 10%. Whole market was suspended. https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...-says-sc-bursa/Fast forward GE 2018, new govt announced public holiday n market was closed for a few days.
