Carrefour has bad staff for pets. They have no knowledge, all they know is give you a receipt and pack the animal into a box for you. I recently say the Wangsa Maju branch keeping WW with Robos in the same tank. I ask why? They said "kawan kawan mah, tak gaduh".... so silly....

Importing hamsters and quarantine, it will cost more. Maybe 1 hamster may end up RM100 each unless you bulk 100 hamsters, then the cost would be something like RM50 each... I just agak coz Petswonderland used to import from Holland, 1 hamster was around Rm60 sale.... and they imported a few hundreds in....

Sometimes getting hamsters from pet shops is like that. Unclean environment and stressful environment can lead to poor immunity, so any virus or bacteria can attack rapidly. Well, it's not your fault. Don't give up on syrians.

There are 2 mink bandeds at Pet Safari going for RM20 with other Syrians. New shipment of syrians, so..... healthy or not is base on luck when you buy. The best is really take your time to handle it and hold it, check it carefully. Never get skinny ones or those that are always sleepy in their tanks. When I choose Syrians, I tell the staff "Please let me choose myself"

Pet Family familiar with me, so anyone who comes with me can stick their hands in to molest any hamster LOL. Anyway, sorry for your lost.

Update: Monday, I will be going hamster hunting again.

Too long. I did that in one of the hamsters thread before and it was not worth the time to keep track. Summore I get weird PMs saying "add me, I got hamster" but then they never come and talk in the thread.

Can. As long you are not using powder for humans. You can actually use the baby powder Pureen but it has to be the one made of corn starch. No talcum.

Whoever gave their hamsters a wet bath, they are just doing more damage to the hamster than good.

Well, for the powder thing, I would suggest you start training them 1st. How is your Roche with a brush? What you can do is pick up your hamsters and use a tooth brush to comb the fur. Then if you hamsters are not running away from the brush, you can go on with the powder bath.

1st is sprinkle some of the powder on the fur. Use your fingers to rub the powder into the fur. Then take an old tooth brush to comb out the excess powder. Done!

Male or female also fine. Now I see a few more minks in the market. Pet Safari got 2, quite ok looking. Well, I'm happy with my 2 minks heheheh..... both also female.

My minks also sometimes never open eyes to go around their tanks.... but it is not a condition. They just sensitive to light. Ruby and red eyes are more sensitive to light. That's why black eyes open bigger.

The staff at most petshops have poor knowledge on hamsters. I had to so-called train the 2 staff at a petshop near my house how to check the gender of the hamsters as well as how to handle them. They didn't know how to see which is male and female.... and the hamsters are mature enough to tell summore. Well, sometimes we just have to prepare ourselves with our own information and make sure you know what you wanna get. I never trust the staff at PLC or PS or PW.... all their knowledge are from suppliers, which is basically rubbish knowledge.

If you have housed them since young and never change their tank or cage to new ones.... then it shouldn't be a problem. But you have to have a spare tank on stand by coz one fine day, a fight may happen. This is common with WW when they fully mature. So just be cautious.

Alot of people also do not know WW fight can be brutal. That's why I prefer RC more..... they are social hamsters, just like Robos.
