Dove syrian? It's more like minks coz Dove syrian need black gene, which is a super rare gene that suppliers don't have.

Yes, mink got ruby eyes. Dove is grey. Mink is brownish. Look at Jamien's Ferro's pics.

QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Jun 14 2008, 05:24 AM) you're very creative. I would hv never thought of that. No, you will end up with badly injured hamster or dead hamster. You would only be lucky if it didn't fight. WW are territorial.Added on June 14, 2008, 6:12 amI feel poisoned with Chris' WW here. Feel like wana buy and try to introduce to my current Kiki (also a WW). Is that a good idea? Added on June 14, 2008, 10:05 am QUOTE(louisfjh @ Jun 14 2008, 02:27 AM) Great setup. I also used to use Legos... but damn malas to clean it coz my hamsters like to pee in the top corners.QUOTE(tina_yess @ Jun 14 2008, 02:54 AM) ic.. thx, will buy the suction pads 2mrw.. Carrefour has bad staff for pets. They have no knowledge, all they know is give you a receipt and pack the animal into a box for you. I recently say the Wangsa Maju branch keeping WW with Robos in the same tank. I ask why? They said "kawan kawan mah, tak gaduh".... so silly.... for your info, carrefour midvalley pets section is bad, the shop keeper has lack knowledge about small animal.. maybe they already change the bedding to recycle paper, but in robo tank they do not provide water bottle, only water in bowl, some hams get wet.. i got my robo from there, but still can survive la.. but quite regret also, its better to buy from home breeder.. QUOTE(tina_yess @ Jun 14 2008, 03:32 AM) Importing hamsters and quarantine, it will cost more. Maybe 1 hamster may end up RM100 each unless you bulk 100 hamsters, then the cost would be something like RM50 each... I just agak coz Petswonderland used to import from Holland, 1 hamster was around Rm60 sale.... and they imported a few hundreds in....Added on June 14, 2008, 10:14 am QUOTE(jayniel @ Jun 14 2008, 01:51 AM) OMG!! Whoa. RIP to your little syrian.that mink banded just passed away.. at first i was wondering y he kept on sleeping.. then i pick him up, he was shivering & body is weak.. he was very wobbly too.. then i thought he was scared, cos shivering.. mana tau, he slowly hardened, IN MY HANDS!! i'm damn sad right now.. he died just like that, i cant save him.. wat happen???? symptoms i notice just before he died: 1. kept on shitting.. at first the poo was stuck in his anus, could be constipation? 2. shivering non-stop, then slowly decrease & harden instead 3. gives no reaction no matter how i shook him(at this point still alive, breathing rapidly) 4. eyes open damn big, din blink & cant blink even tho i blow at him (still alive, heavy breathing) 5. continue like that till i finally realized he din breathe anymore.. omg wat happen la.. Sometimes getting hamsters from pet shops is like that. Unclean environment and stressful environment can lead to poor immunity, so any virus or bacteria can attack rapidly. Well, it's not your fault. Don't give up on syrians. There are 2 mink bandeds at Pet Safari going for RM20 with other Syrians. New shipment of syrians, so..... healthy or not is base on luck when you buy. The best is really take your time to handle it and hold it, check it carefully. Never get skinny ones or those that are always sleepy in their tanks. When I choose Syrians, I tell the staff "Please let me choose myself" Pet Family familiar with me, so anyone who comes with me can stick their hands in to molest any hamster LOL. Anyway, sorry for your lost. Update: Monday, I will be going hamster hunting again. This post has been edited by crazymouse_yyh: Jun 14 2008, 10:14 AM |

QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 15 2008, 11:06 AM) Too long. I did that in one of the hamsters thread before and it was not worth the time to keep track. Summore I get weird PMs saying "add me, I got hamster" but then they never come and talk in the thread.QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 15 2008, 03:04 PM) There's a powder thing from cool bunny that claims can be used on any small animal. i can use that on my hamsters? It says it absorbs dirt and grease. And makes your pets smell nice. Can. As long you are not using powder for humans. You can actually use the baby powder Pureen but it has to be the one made of corn starch. No talcum.Whoever gave their hamsters a wet bath, they are just doing more damage to the hamster than good. QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 15 2008, 04:42 PM) Nezu just dropped by my place with the smoothies~ Can't wait to try on my hammies after the red devil finish (which is very soon). My fridge now got 4 big container of smoothie. Wow~ And she also announced that Ferro is a FEMALE. QUOTE(BlueWind @ Jun 15 2008, 04:56 PM) 1cm to half an inch. |

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 15 2008, 06:16 PM) Great! Roche and Ferro don't smell so bad yet but I'm thinking about doing it for them next weekend. Any particular method to do it so they won't struggle and bite? I had 1 gerbil, the whole time it looked like female coz there were never any balls.... already like 5 months old.... then when close to 7 months, the balls grew out. So.... sometimes some animals develop a bit later heheheh. How often you handle ferro? Hand feed more lah. Well, for the powder thing, I would suggest you start training them 1st. How is your Roche with a brush? What you can do is pick up your hamsters and use a tooth brush to comb the fur. Then if you hamsters are not running away from the brush, you can go on with the powder bath. 1st is sprinkle some of the powder on the fur. Use your fingers to rub the powder into the fur. Then take an old tooth brush to comb out the excess powder. Done! |

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 15 2008, 06:28 PM) I didn't see carefully. Went back home only realize is a female also. But now she got eye infection. The black banded and Umbrous and Sable are males hahahah. Well, see how. I wanna see if can breed any nice colours since already got the black gene. I'm hoping to actually get 1 female black banded too. Maybe can linebreed and see if can get solid black hahahah.... QUOTE(muchan86 @ Jun 15 2008, 06:56 PM) Sure sure. When you back wor? I will still be hunting around Pet Family.... also Petaling Street as I have not been there for a few months. Ohh... if around TAR can loh hahahah.... I tot far far like Subang. Well, let me know where lah when you guys decide.
My minks also sometimes never open eyes to go around their tanks.... but it is not a condition. They just sensitive to light. Ruby and red eyes are more sensitive to light. That's why black eyes open bigger. Jamien should get a red eyed cream. The light butter yellow cream, so nice. I'm searching for a nice one heheheh.... |

The syrian only birth 2 pups? Wow... that's a small litter. Hope your hammie knows what to do. Update us when you get back.
The staff at most petshops have poor knowledge on hamsters. I had to so-called train the 2 staff at a petshop near my house how to check the gender of the hamsters as well as how to handle them. They didn't know how to see which is male and female.... and the hamsters are mature enough to tell summore. Well, sometimes we just have to prepare ourselves with our own information and make sure you know what you wanna get. I never trust the staff at PLC or PS or PW.... all their knowledge are from suppliers, which is basically rubbish knowledge. |

QUOTE(irkuysm @ Jun 17 2008, 11:25 PM) Is there any chance that WW sibling gonna fight each other later?? If you have housed them since young and never change their tank or cage to new ones.... then it shouldn't be a problem. But you have to have a spare tank on stand by coz one fine day, a fight may happen. This is common with WW when they fully mature. So just be cautious. My WW female now been together approximately 1 month now,i dont want to seperate them ....T.T Pls answer my question, just now my previous question also didnt answer but an offtopic question can be answer...LOLZ. |

Alot of people also do not know WW fight can be brutal. That's why I prefer RC more..... they are social hamsters, just like Robos. |
