first u have to verify which kind of baldness u have.
is it male pattern baldness or pressure.
If it is MPB, Propecia and minoxidil

How to know which one we are suffering from?

Hi folks  smile.gif

I'm 20 this year, and have been having some hair loss problems recently iinm.

I find hair all over my pillow after sleeping, hair scattered on my floor where i use the computer. This worries me to death

Talking about what i've been doing this few months:Yea, i'm currently on holidays as my enrollment to university will only be in Q4 this year, thus the opportunities to stay up late at night. Not just late, but very late at night until 5-6am daily and waking up the next day late in the afternoon. This has been going on for months as far as i can remember.I have heard that sleep deprivation can lead to hair loss problems. Is this true?

Besides,my diet is also in a mess.I tend to give in to regular instant noodles cravings.Normally once a week but sometimes twice.Yes, i hear eating food high in MSG can lead to hair problems as well.I tend to eat very little this few months because most of the time i will feel tired, because of the sleep deprivation or because i wake up late in the afternoon(normally i feel tired when i wake up late in the afternoon despite of how long i have slept).Yes, whole day in front of the computer does worsen the situation.

Before this, i did have scabs on my head. They grow all over my head.Yes, i had a bad habit to scratch them off which results in blood and some hair loss as well. Thus, i got myself a medicated shampoo which did help but now it's finished already.I just hope that the problems i'm experiencing is not the "male pattern baldness" and just a diet/sleep deprivation factor.

Yes, currently i'm trying to sleep earlier around 1-2am now, hopefully up before the sun is high in the sky.I'm trying to cut down on oily food, those unhealthy stuffs.I heard vitamin B is good for promoting hair growth?

To all forumers

I've been doing some research on the net about minoxidil 5% (regaine, rogaine, kirkland and etc)

and I have a question.

For those who are currently using it or have been doing so for years,

what EXACTLY is the side effects of this product??

I'm particularly concern about the sexual side effects, I have 2 bottles of regaine at home, but till now haven't open it

kind of scared actually tongue.gif

please do clarify, tq

Hi I can help you there

Okay Rogaine
First, this does work,it gave my mid section a real improvement in growth and thickening of the hair.

Side effects: dandruff and a dry scalp. Basically, this product is very drying to the scalp so yeah....you will have hair but it will look kinda dry and it might stand "up" in a way. Well , I just couldn't get the lush look for sure, and if you have long hair it will look bad so just cut your hair short.

Kirkland
I switched because this was way more affordable in the long run.

Side effects: Again, dandruff and a dry scalp. If you scratch your scalp lots of fluff and dandruff will come about.

And most important..this happened to me. Small hair growth under your eyes. So you will look like a cat. Now before you get scared, these hairs are extremely thin and very little so noone will notice unless they are an inch from our face. I can't stress how insignificant the growth is because most people get scared after hearing this. Well let's just say you can count the number of hairs, like 5. They look super thin, like erm,,like your hair on the forearms-palm facing up, so it didn't really demotivate me to stop using kirkland.

side effects on sex drive and libido..none to be honest. Okay dude, let's just say I have f***ed and masturbated almost everyday and my sex drive hasn't been going away, I have been on rogaine/kirkland since 2008.

Hi. Im 24yrs old lady. I have been noticing hair loss since November last year. It came to peak during January 2010. And now, my hair is thinner alot, around 50% less than previous. My front part is most obvious one..causing my forehead to be more apparently 'empty'.

I have been committing to healthy eating habit before this except since last year September where I have had moved to the house Im currently staying, which i can no longer doing cooking n the water supply here is kinda dirty, due to the rusky pipe. I dine outside for every meals.

Being a final year student this year, I've been sleeping kinda late all these 4 years. But only since last year, i notice that im suffering from hair loss..

Could anyone advice?

Your case seems drastic.Could it be the result of change of shampoo?I did suffer the same fate when i changed to a medicated shampoo for another minor "dandruff" problem .It helped reduce flaking, but caused hair loss sweat.gif

If you check around this thread more, you'll notice a few of us here suffer hair loss after using different shampoos

Hi Tomgirl8585,

For your situation, the best would be consult a dermatologist rather than make our own assumption. There could be various reason for hair thinning. Thus let the specialist say what can be the reason.

I have oily scalp and face and have been having hair loss since few years back. I think i have MPB (probably stage 3) since my grandpa and dad also have hair loss.

I have a few questions about hair loss medication:

1. Do i need medical consultation before taking rogaine or some other medication?
2. How much does it cost for the medication?

I've been struggling with hair loss for years, mainly due to oily scalp and poor diet. I stumbled on this natural product called Yuan Soap, originated frm Taiwan. The soap in general is made frm organic plants/herbs.. etc.. This particular one called Liquorice Soap is specially made for hair. I've been using it for months now and it dramatically reduced the rate of hair loss. I've stopped using commercial shampoo ever since. Give it a try, these soaps are available at Body Bar, and major organic shops around.

Btw. Those with oily scalp have to watch their diet too, reducing oily food intake sure does make a difference. Hope this helps.
