I really hated this movie. I really did. I don't understand the Best Picture nomination for it at all.
I hope some of you could answer these questions for me:
- How the heck did BB know about Daisy's crash? About all the little things happening that led to that tragic event? The whole movie were either told through his eyes or Daisy's and neither could know about these little little things?
- Struck X times by lightning? Again, what's the purpose?
- Why include Katrina?
- Born a baby, dies a baby? Come on! Why not die a sperm and an ovum, then?
- How much do we know or like about Benjamin Button? He likes Daisy, he ages backwards, his dad disowned him, he met THREE interesting characters (Captain, swimmer and piano teacher) but what else? I couldn't feel for his character nor did I really care for him as well.
I would have loved to love this movie especially seeing how beautiful it is to look at but it just felled empty. In a year where we have two great films being carried by two great performances, Benjamin Button isn't either one of the two films in my humble opinion.
-Yeah. I was so confuse whether it is narration or it was from the diary.
-Lightning scenes spoil it for me too.
-Why not Katrina? What's wrong with it. Come on.
-I was kinda hoping he die a giant baby, make more senses since he's born a baby size old man.
-It's not about Button, his "curious case" is just the side kick. It's about Button & Daisy and their love. About their "meeting point" and the time one were "unconscious" and the other one waited/taking care of. I can't describe the subtle feeling but this part of the movie works for me.
I rate this movie slightly better than Zodiac but FC and Se7en is a whole new level.

Watched the movie a while back and though the movie's somehow beautiful but it still doesn't give me a greater impact as compared to Meet Joe Black. Brad Pitt is more appalling in that movie, and he has a great chemistry with Anthony Hopkins.
Unfortunately in TCCOBB, Brad doesn't really have a partner to excel with. No doubt Cate was ok in the movie, but her credentials were put to a stale in this movie. Juz a mediocre acting imo.
Well, would have been better if Brad were a bit younger and had a decent 'sparing partner' in the movie. Most of the time he doesn't really sparkle and its a waste of his great talent.
Not with Claire Forlani but Anthony Hopkins? I dont know.
I think Cate was much better than Ok. In fact, I think slightly better than Brad Pitt in this movie. She carried the aging so well from 20's to 50's despite the make up. Dont take it wrong though, Im not saying Brad Pitt is doing badly. He is actually giving a worthy performance for the role. He drops his coolness unlike most of his other movie where he is just being "Brad" himself and let his stardom shine his character he portrays. He didn't eats on screen this time.
