Lessons should be around Rm60-Rm90 for beginners, depending on the school.

QUOTE(wreckens15 @ May 23 2008, 08:57 PM)
it only took u 1 week to correct ur mistake
is nt that long
make ur finger friendly with teh guitar took more then 1 month
rather than learning 1 chord per week at yamaha that cost 70-100 bucks per month
imo the money can be saved to be use on higher grade lesson
if u got the money then of coz go for it(of coz its better when u pay) *duhh*
for me its nt much of a difference
technology invented youtube.com  brows.gif  brows.gif
its nt really hard to learn in a proper way
learn by urself doesnt mean u learn all those by urself
get some advice from experience people and go through gutiar article on the net
watch video on youtube
from what i did before im really statisfied because the archievement i get is all from myself
thats why i get really attract to guitar
basic things are not really hard
that is why its called basic
if u think u hv the commitment , why dont u go for it
no offence
its on an oppinion from an intermidiate player

i have to agree with this. if you have neither commitment nor determination to learn, even the great satriani won't be able to teach you.

honestly, the basics are just that, basics. it's just like driving a car, you don't really have to go to a class to learn it. you can simply "pick it up" as you go along. it's much more fun too. less restriction and you can follow your own pace.

advance topics and techniques are another matter. you really need someone to teach you how it is done. however, you can still learn it yourself without having to pay for classes. so IMO, better try learning things yourself 1st as to get yourself familiar around the guitar. then if you think you need more advance technique, find someone to teach you or pay for advance class.

class, definitely.

nothing beats somebody actually demonstrating and showing it to you how it's done and correcting your mistake on the spot.

There's no right or wrong answer here.

But when you ask the question, then it's obvious you need to attend lessons like the rest of the population in Malaysia who can't be arsed to self-study, only wait to be spoon fed by teachers.

Those who have the true drive/enthusiasm would've already started learning by themselves without ever asking this question.

If you have to ask this question, then you have to take classes, period.

For the rest of us who're able to learn without teacher/classes and just rely on youtube and the internet, it's not wrong either. There're enough of video examples showing the proper way.

i think it depends on individual ,

if you are that kind of person that always like to lepak , got shitloads of distractions in your life , no motivation to study. then ..yes. I think getting a teacher is a good idea

if you are the type of person who is independent , discipline and serious about improving …then i guess you wouldn’t need a guitar teacher ..cause you will take the initiative to make some good guitarist friend ..and ask them for this , that , bla bla tips etc …

are u saying learn by urself is nt proper?
sumone thats able to learn by himself is nt right?
if u learnt by urself and stopped because of some reason
getting lesson that is really boring compare to selflearning could probbly make u stop playing forever blush.gif blush.gif

i dont really get the point of learning for 1month
if u are really new
with 1 month u can only reach proper major scale progression
but if u selfteach before u go to lesson
u might read about slash chord bar chord diminished chord along the way u getting teh basic
so when u entered lesson u hv alot of questions to asked ur teacher
and maybe u get ur teacher to get impressed by ur anxiety to learn
rather then "heck he is just a normal newbie to guitar"
i know theres alot of guitar teacher arround here
and im sure u like to teach sumone that show comitment than
a normal new student that just follow everything u said
