what specifically about the environment are you worried about? Are u expected to perform? Yes. Politics?Yes , i guess anywhere in a large firm you can't run away from it. Paywise? Policy is to be middle of market so won't be outstandingly stellar compared to other similar compaites.
What kind of negativity? This can be specific to the individual and circumstances, crap manager maybe?
Sounds like u are fresh in the field. Speaking form experience Intel is a good place to at least try out and see if it suits you. If no, u still hv lots of time to jump ship and explore other options. Hey, it works to have Intel on your resume, u know?

Haha agree with happyshirt here. I think its in people's mind that things outside could always be better.
Intel is fine, although they do expect you to perform. That's all I heard from Intel ppl. Intel won't be satisfied with you just following your official jobs responsibility. They constantly want you to think of ways to improve, process wise and product wise.
I remember when I was in college, everybody heard that joining Intel is a big no no due to the high workload and pressure cooker environment, no matter which field you are studying. Since working, I kind of feel weird and asking myself where such rumors originated? Maybe from sour grape I don't know, but seriously, you can a lot more worst than a company which own more than 80% market share in the world of desktop PC. Mobile stuff wise is another issue.
