Its certainly something to do with your phone. Here are my tips

1) Take couple of readings in the morning (say around 4am to 7 am)

2) Take couple of readings in the afternoon (lunch hour or so)

3) Take couple of readings again in evening (or night)

4) Then take one in the wee hours of morning

Compare and em and post it here. We might just find the culprit. The thing changes from time to time. So you better take note. Once we have enough data you may send a complain letter to TM and MCMC so that will fix the issue. BTW its related to your phone line and not streamyx

If possible do one test with spliter on and the other one without (i.e connect the modem directly to the telephone line without using a spliter). Do some basic troubleshooting first.

im goign to skip posting everything here... i'm just gonna give u the skinny of the whole thing

my neighbour is staying 6 doors away from me. he has NO problems surfing. i have massive problems. called streamyx 4 tiems in the span of 1 week - changed ports all the time, flushedns and all the necessary rubbish - imean steps they take u through.

asked me whether i was using splitter said yes - disconnected the splitter (btw, i got 2 extra splitters and tried all of them), went straight - no difference. still slow.
they say ok. change me on another port. still slow. sent tech guy to house, he pick up phone say nothing wrong, and left.

so, i tot hard line is alright, port seemingly changed 4 times, alright. next up. my modem fried (but how come LYN and other local and sg forums i can access? mmmm.... no matter) i got my neighbours dlink modem router which he's using (and it works perfectly alright) and i bring it home. guess what? surprise surprise!!! it's also not working.

so....
is it my modem? no
is it my splitter? no
is it my whole garden / area which is screwed up? no (my friend coudl get gmail and youtube in 2 seconds. i took 20 minutes)
is it my phone line? telekom fella say no, modems SND and attenuation says no.


so i ask. what else should i do, and who should i blame? i dont' know (it's rhetorical)

the DS LINE ATTENUATION quite high although is midnight duh

I am having the same problem as Dreamsky certain hours of the day the connection is getting throttled. 2am till 12pm very fast 12pm onwards slow. I ping google.com.my, yahoo.com etc. around 230+ but when 12noon 300+. I have called TMnet so many times starting to lose it. They ask me to do the speedometer test which gives me a result of 840+ kbps but when on international links that don't mean anything because slow as hell.

They say international link they don't handle so i ping their stupid tm.net.my so many times till i get request timed out message. Finally some guy phones me saying they upgrading the TM lines or something i was like when you finish this upgrade he said today but no difference yet. Still getting throttled and I'm losing it. I ran Kaspersky anti virus to make sure no virus + used Spyware Terminator to make sure no spyware because TMnet likes to find any excuse to prove your side is the problem.

Also running a firewall Comodo Firewall Pro. Now at 5.57am i am typing this message the net is freaking fast no problems so what the hell is going on. I am also gonna post my ADSL status.

I hope Dreamsky can find a solution so i may apply it or if i find one I'll post it here. My ip range that works for me 60.51.x.x & 60.54.x.x. Ip range that really is bad 60.53.x.x & 124.12.x.x. I cannot get any other ip range and I'm located in Malacca near Manipal College. It's been like this for the last 2weeks+. If anyone knows TMnet is upgrading their line please post it up so i won't keep phoning them and wasting my damn time.

I've basically run out of options and have even emailed their help@tm.com.my with screenshots of their incompetence but haven't got any replies just a guy who said they are upgrading and getting it done today and still the same problem persists.

Pagi nih back to normal speed lah already que mkv 4.5gb and 8.5gb on 2 places both are running at full speed. Masuk malam karang those sites are lousy

not much different.

I just tried the way stated by you but nothing much difference from restart modem. I got snr margin @ 31db when connected, but very fast, it drop to 27db and then fluctuate between 20~25db. after some duration, it keep dropping below 20db. the lowest is 11db but then later raise up and fluctuating.

update:
spent whole morning to test this. all measure in ping, not speed.

last night i download from rapidshare at around 7Kbps..why so slow....my package is 512k..

not sure anyone highlight this b4.

if you feel yr DL speed is slow afternoon, evening only & night, mid-nite is super fast.

Do this test.

try DL any files from ftp.tm.net.my 6hour apart if possible, peak hour (10am-1pm), (6pm-9pm) & super off-peak (4a.m)

not matter what time, by right you should get full speed ahead.

if getting full speed with ftp.tm.net.my, that mean yr line been throttle.

if speed is slow, climbing mountain & jump off the cliff, possible related to the TMnet exchange/DSL signal weaken.

above this should simplifies the troubleshooting.

yeah, i got the same problem.. usually download at night is faster.

and 60.53.x.x now still can not login msn

Wow. Its mysterious. I am not sure why such case explains. This goes for Xtryfe as well. Well during off-peak times , certainly it would be faster !

Usually connection will be fast during the night time and in the wee hours of the morning as less users will be using it for streamyx. Maybe the night lurkers thats about it. Your line attenuation is still bad and it needs to be resolved ASAP. Try calling Telekom up and let them check your line. If they say they need some repairs ask them how much and things like that. Your other option is would be to opt for a wireless broadband. Your line clearly has lots of noises !

finally I found that what make my snr margin fluctuate all the times. when I connect the phone line from the socket to the modem directly, the snr margin only fluctuate between 26~27. but when I connect back to the sliptter, the problem happened. but I dont think is the sliptter faulty since I got another spare sliptter to backup, and still same. any other solution?

think is the telephone line problem.... coz they are old enuf

the attenuation will show what figure normally if the line is good?

Prasys did u mean my line attenuation is bad or someone else. I do agree with you at night and wee hours in the morning the net should be faster because less people logged on but before 24/7 i never had a problem getting a stable speed no matter the time of day. Also radio stations i used to listen to on live365 now it's choppy as hell.

Dreamsky is your connection still having the problems i stated in my post earlier.

I still can't listen to my radio stations which is frustrating but i will try to listen to it when my connection is at it's best and see maybe it's the radio stations fault. I just hope they resolve this issue or Prasys can i ask them to open more ip ranges for me. I want to know if TMnet will change my port so i might get better results.

I just hate it when everything was fine 24/7 TMnet gets itchy and has to meddle with my connection and screw it up why the hell can't they go attack you Prasys and leave me be hahaha.

Seattle, WA 481 download speed.

Washington, DC 375 download speed Omfg before always 800+ stable.

Of cause at midnight/morning when i check it all of them are 800+ to 900+ LOL sob.
