My SNR margin is normal the problem was only international routing all phone lines and DSLAM sync was okay smile.gif

Getting full speed at the moment
*
My problem is once restart modem, I'm getting SNR margin above around 28 to 31, but a moment later, it decrease to 24~26, then up to higher value again. sometime it will drop to below 20, but it will increase again then. even it drop to 12~13 but I'm still getting the right speed, no dc or whatever. Just wonder the reason.

Yeah, tm net ppl called me said their technician have fixed the line (I guess they did) .. my download speed has gone back to 1Mb (instead of the 200-400 Kbps) .. there's still time out but at least the latency is better than yesterday.

Will monitor more smile.gif

glad to hear that, so it will not just a moment happy news

QUOTE(eddyann @ Jun 16 2008, 04:13 PM)
u will see the normal white box which is similar to the splitter. open it you will find the 2 telekom wire, in my case the wire is black and the copper is kinda stiff. i just took a metal (like a key) and shorted between them. to my suprise the SNR from 4-5 jumped to 31 and my data rate from as low as 32kbps resumed back to 1536 (512 kbps package).

instead of reset/on/off my adsl modem, i found out that short circuited the 2 telekom wire worked better  biggrin.gif
*
my downstream snr margin oso not constant. when connected, it is 31 and very fast, it will drop to 27~28. then it will keep on dropping till as low as 11. but afterward it will raise up again. thinking to try ur way, but which box u refer to? any picture? thanks

as long as u can see the 2 copper wire of telekom line u can shorted it. the best at the box. its the same size like your splitter but only 1 RJ11 socket only. open the clips u will see black (in my case) telekom wire with its stiff copper. try to short it with metal object. i think somehow i manage to reset the DSLAM  tongue.gif  tongue.gif  not sure though..

be sure u disconnect the modem line or otherwise u might short circuit ur own ADSL by accident. which i assume bad...
*
I just tried the way stated by you but nothing much difference from restart modem. I got snr margin @ 31db when connected, but very fast, it drop to 27db and then fluctuate between 20~25db. after some duration, it keep dropping below 20db. the lowest is 11db but then later raise up and fluctuating.

update:
spent whole morning to test this. all measure in ping, not speed.
IP ShenZhen server HK server Taiwan server
60.50 - 68 72 329
218.111.xx - 216 144 272
60.48 - 235 73 324
219.95 - 67 89 281
218.111.x - 215 68 228
218.208 - 83 87 281

p/s: somehow cant get 218.111.xxx which normally can get, so no result for it. the ping for 218.208 and 219.95 are almost the same, but the speed for 218.208 is far better than 219.95

finally I found that what make my snr margin fluctuate all the times. when I connect the phone line from the socket to the modem directly, the snr margin only fluctuate between 26~27. but when I connect back to the sliptter, the problem happened. but I dont think is the sliptter faulty since I got another spare sliptter to backup, and still same. any other solution?

the splitter might not be faulty but the internal resistance in that splitter might degrade some performance. using shortest cable as possible might help abit.
*
shortest cable? which cable you refer to?

I got both ZTE and D-Links splitter. The ZTE is around 4 yr old but the D-Links only 2 weeks old, comes with the DSL-520T modem that I bought earlier.

Do not know how accurate this will be. My downloads suffer and fluctuate like there's no tomorrow. Even when I ran a test on SpeedTest.net with KL as my location, the ping was about 130 ms. What the fish!
