I am not sure my suggestion would be a good one. However, you may want to try and check out Singapore Expo (yahoo.com.sg search for singapore expo) website for update on up coming events then. Big shops used to hold expo clearance sales at discounts, but I am not sure for this year. Could be worth your try checking, no harm. Also to note before you start your shopping at any malls, do check out whether there are any free gifts given out for total purchase. This kind of thing used to be a norm during boom time, but not sure since we are in recession. However, last yr end and this coming CNY sales, mall owners still do provide some kind of gifts althought not as good as before, so watch out for it.

Surprise, 7th story hotel still for booking?? I thought they are closed by Gov to make way for something... can't remember what it was. It was also in the news and someone had also posted here too.... Are you sure its still open for business?

theres the automated access card at Singapore's checkpoint, but still i think you need a passport to pass Malaysia's checkpoint.

So, NSS hotel is out...

I am going to Singapore with my gf next Monday, 2 days trip. Plan to shop at Bugis area only.
Is Hotel 81(Bugis) or Hotel81(Dicksons) a good replacement for NSS hotel at Bugis area?

* Can I hand carry those Instant Bottle Bird nest into Singapore a??? Is it against the law in Singapore? My mom ask me to bring one box(12Bottles) for my aunt at Singapore.......

Any cheap hotel in SG? Going there for 5days 4night with my gf. Whats the cheapest hotel i can get? Don't need any high class one, cause our main purpose there is for shopping and also going to Sentosa island. Just need a place to settle down and sleep.
Thanks in advance for all the suggestion and recommendation.

if u go to NSS or new seven story hotel, u'll see this "closed due to goverment accuire" means, the land is leasthold and now the goverment needs the land to build something........ doh.gif

i've been like 3-4 times tried to walk in here before but was always full....For F1 period last year, it was already fully booked eversince february vmad.gif

so where do u sleep when u r in singapore?
1) family's place
2) friend's place
3) fragance backpackers hostel, lil india st, all rooms are 6persons p/room...around SGD22 per person.quite clean
4) bugis backpackers......around SDG27....16people mix dorm.....
5) if you want a private room , cheapest is SGD120 with attached bathroom....cheaper then then non attach bathroom.....

where do i go when im in singapore?a
not much interesting places i must say, KL/klang valley is way more choices compared to sing......
1) sentosa island, buy bus, by cable car, by train, (by car not recommended)
2) arab street
3) boat quay
4) clarke quay
5) esplanade - theatres on the bay
6) fort canning
7) merlion
8) nasional museum on sing
9) sing art museum
10) orchard road - shopping yada yada.......i still find malaysia midV n the Garden better laugh.gif
11) sing flyer - like eye on malaysia thingy
12) war memorial park
13) city hall
14) lil india
15) holland st
16) hippo river cruise
17) citisightseing- something like hop in hop off in mlys....
18) singapore river at nite........... nice view
19) vivo ct n harbourfront...nice viewing deck facing sentosa island
20) waterTours
21) jurong bird park
22) singapore nite safari
23) singapore river cruise

Where do i get a map of Singapore?
if u arried in changi airport u can always go to sing tourist counter.....if u are in orchard road, u can also to go their tourist info......a map of sing and interesting places are easy to get, most hotel lobby's provide this......dont worry if u dont stay there........just go inside a hotel.....example in Park View hotel

how to i know this......
-ive been to all except jurong bird park/nite safari & river cruise

p/s u can cover all this in 2days biggrin.gif

Nais list there rclxms.gif However on your notation as below on the private room for S$120, I hv to disagree. There are more budget hotels that offer private room wth bathroom for <S$100 after the NSS shut down..For eg..Hotel 81 Palace at Geylang, Walk-in rack rate is S60 only sumore comes wth FOC minearl waters & also 2 super cup mee. biggrin.gif ...I stayed there twice on promotional voucher I got during Singapore Tourism road show in KL..probably during Matta fair too...for RM100/room or ~$s45/room.

Hehe...ehhh actually Hotel81 Palace located in the centre of those Kinky activities..Lrg16 Geylang blush.gif ..Nevertheless it's clean infact the room is even cleaner than some 4 star rated hotels that I hv stayed in M'sia! shocking.gif (pretty small room almost similar to 1st world hotel, Genting but cleaner) ....Occasionally u do see some rich man bringing young girls to the hotel blush.gif

Well, for me no problem...can wash eye sumore drool.gif

I do have relatives and friends over there but we prefer to stay hotel rather than disturbing them since we are not so close after all.
So means Hotel 81 in Geylang have the cheapest rate of all for a normal hotel with attached bathroom and beds?
Not going for any dorm or backpackers hotel cause i'm going there wif my gf.
If i book earlier, will there be a chance i can get cheaper price? Matta fair? We can book our hotel there?

And yea, i've just googled for Hotel81. They have so many hotels that having the same rate with Geylang's. Can i know which wan is the nearest to town or the most convenient one to take public transport?
Sorry, i'm still doing research on SG. Sorry if i asked some noob questions.
Thanks in advance again!
