Since nobody mention her name yet, I do recommend you guys check out Marit Larsen if you into pop/acoustic/pop folk music. For anyone who doesn't know, she is one half from M2M group who were famous from Pretty Boy. They were split on 2003, one headed on rock and Marit still on pop music, more to folk pop that is
What I particularly like about her music is, she made her own lyrics plus she plays some instruments on her own too. Even though that sounds normal, but give her a try. Her album sounds rather good too, not really have good dynamic range but not as noisy and flat as today's mainstream music. She sings with passion and the love of music, far cry from M2M days. Sounds rather organic I might say I like the song Solid Ground, here is some sample of the song

Are you sure? theyve been around for quite some time...(not as long as RATM tho). Brand New is kinda lame, very pop-punk-emo-lame. But that album mentioned above is the exception. =D
