Any differences in the Penang campus compared to the Sunway one? Anything lacking or are they essentially the same but different building and location

I know the requirements but I was wondering, with 5As, what are the chances of getting a scholarship? and does TOA accept trials results?

I missed the Outstanding award competition, so my hope of getting a scholarship lies in external scholarships i'm guessing doh.gif

I'm planning to take Diploma in illustration, but wondering, how much the total cost doh.gif All my friends saying that TOA very expensive + alot of hidden costs? Anyone can elaborate?

yeap..hard to get scholarship from TOA..maybe u can try PTPTN..a lot of using that..

i enrolled in 2010..graduating soon..that time the fee was around 50k+..now it increase until 60k+ i think..not sure..u hvae to go TOA and ask..

hidden cost means all the materials la..when u are in foundation u used up a lot of money for art and craft..print this print that..

when u get into major, especially Illustration..u have to buy all the prisma color pencils, color paper, arcylic..all those material for paintings..

I have been told that they can supply a laptop as a loan and also provide drawing tablet or something like that? What laptop do they give so I do not need to buy my own and save the money on a desktop rig?

When you apply you are asked to have a portfolio

1 still life or landscape in colour, free size

and

1 free composition in any media, free size

the sample they provided looks very good and im worried what I will produce will not up to standard. Do I just show what I am currently able to do? Must it be perfect? how do they judge or do they just want to see what I can do?

but overall, it's still random

good luck

like i say, it's still random

but base on my observation, mostly the people who draw like shit will be in the last few classes

not to say last class doesn't have talented people, but surely it'll less than that who's in the first few classes

it's never that easy in toa, dun let me start listing their shitty management part dry.gif

Hey.. I'm gonna study at TOA soon. I like the college, the layout looks cool. And the instructor is kind too but most students that I bumped into was hella racist o.. I was smiling at the guy and he looked at me like i'm a homeless person and he did even side eyeing me. unsure.gif I mean wth was his problem? Either that dude was racist or a spoiled brat, and I think he is both. So ashamed to meet that kind of people. I hope not all students are like that at TOA.

It's mainly for comparison before you enter and after you complete the programme. There's no 1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class etc. My batch had a few geng students in all the classes. Very balanced.

Don't worry, not everyone's like that here. Ya can't deny there's always someone like that in any community, anywhere you go. Just ignore them and minimise interaction with these people.

first day icon_rolleyes.gif

First Figure Fundamentals class

started with drawing lines and circles for warm up then we were told to draw the face of person next to me I think it was more of a fun exercise.

Then was shown a slide show on figure basics after it was finished the lecturer said we will do a test. Draw 2 figures sitting on a sofa/chair

Some of them drew as if they have been doing it for years but for me it was my first time 1 of the figure looks cacat!

I hear all the horror stories of people having to stay up late to finish their drawings! omg im scared of that shocking.gif

maybe I worry to much and have too high expectation hmm.gif

p.s. is the student portal down? Im unable to connect to the Penang portal
Sunway can but im not studying there
