yes too many assignments and projects..in toa, basically there're around 6 subs per week..and you WONT EVER have a day that do not have assignment..unless there's really a very very special reason.

so now actually most of us sleep for MAXIMUM 5 or 6 hours. but if uhave afternoon class definitely u can sleep more than that. minimum iver experience is 2 hours in 2days..but there''re friends of mine in animation major, their record is 2days wihtout sleep..and atleast im better coz can sleep 2hours..lol..
*
unsure.gif wow... so this is the hectic life you mean... having so less sleep is bad for health.. so designers/animators/students who are studying in art n design college are all having a bad and unhealthy life style? This really upset me... icon_question.gif

well its really hectic..and yeah definitely it harms our health indirectly..but then still depends on ur working speed..if u are a person that can work super fast and produce a good piece, then u sleeep earlier than us..on the other hand if u are the majority, do things slowly so that it reaches ur expectation, then u will definitely rest lesser..

which means u cant slack a lot..bcoz = wasting time = bring trouble to ur own self.

ok,not to pin pointing other college ya..it not only depends on individual but college as well..not sure about other college mayb u can ask students there? coz last time i was in LKW, i was very chillax..kinda relaxing compared to TOA..
*
i see lol im the person who work slow to make sure my artwork is up to my expectation... ==
and you are a student graduated from LKW? how was LKW uni compared to TOA? laugh.gif

And make sure you do work up your English, especially the conversational ones. Majority of the questions involves situational and anecdotal elements (like how you're talking or responding to a person), it's not easy if you're blunt at that. It's not like writing an essay.

Yes, you will sure get paid. My friend was accepted into an animation company with 1.6k monthy, bad benefit, but fair job scope. The other friend accepted into a graphic design 2k monthy, but work you to death. A spot light student was accepted into a multimedia studio 2.8k+, good benefit, work you to death. All of them have outstanding portfolio. Job is always there, but the work usually also require you to spend lots of time into it, end up you have very low $/time spend rate you see?

The academy surely won't mentioned all this to people they take in...

DG (digital animation )and MM (multimedia design) students are frequent lab user and always stay overnight xD

last time i had 2 semester of foundation studies, but now reduced to 1 semester only.

I'm a DG student btw biggrin.gif

for ptptn , each year about 8k i heard , so in total 24k , but don't fail any subjects.

for those who like DG , there are plenty of jobs to offer

Preproduction - Concept art ( have to be good in imagination and digital drawing skill , illustrator could do this job too ) , Storyboard artist (not really much)
Production - Modeling , Texturing , Rigging , Animation
Post-production-  Lighting , Compositing , Visual Effects

But bear in mind, DG is a tough subject to take among others , it's not about how difficult to do the works , but it's about can you finish it in time , deadlines are deadlines.

For those who interest in DG , bring up your passion smile.gif

thanks for the information!

Any multimedia design student here? I would like to know more about MM(multimedia design)... flex.gif
What's the actual difference between Multimedia design and graphic design rclxub.gif ? I know that multimedia design student even get a chance to learn animation.. So I thought it would be an interesting course to pick up with... the ability to multi-task..!

And is there any extra benefits about getting a degree in DG/MM? Some peoples say that portfolio is the most important aspect when hunting job.. I'm not sure about this unsure.gif

I'm a soon-to-be degree student here. Based on what my counselor told me, Graphic Design are focused on generating ideas for a project/cause: an event leaflet, a concept store design, packaging design and so on; Multimedia on the other hand deals with many things at one time: web design, programming (for web developement), flash, actionscript, motion graphics, etc.

Getting a degree prepares you for the executive level in the industry. You'll have to write a thesis during your final year(correct me if I'm wrong), the coursework are divided into 50% paperwork and 50% hands on activities while it's 70:30 if you're taking Diploma.(They start drawing lessons on the first day while foundation students are doing fundamental figure studies, and their timetable are more packed when compared to the foundation's timetable) Whilst getting a degree might give you a boost of a few hundred bucks (just estimating here tongue.gif) in terms of wage, your income is still based on the quality of your portfolio.

Also, if you're planning to get a degree after you finish your diploma, it will take you 2 years (5 years in total) to get your degree, which is 1 year more than those who took degree straight up from foundation. Unless you opt for overseas,(UK for example) then you will be able to obtain your degree in a year but it costs you an average of 100k covering everything from living expenses to tuition fees.

Here's something that you might want to look at:
The One Academy Degree Showcase (T.O.A.D.S.) 2012
University of Hertfordshire: Course Structure for Interactive Multimedia Design

Hope my insights helped you  thumbup.gif
*
so basically it's up to your choice whether to continue the degree or not to after you had your diploma??
And what if I chose to continue the degree in malaysia instead of UK? Is it possible?

hmm.gif well.. I see, I still couldn't choose between these 2.. whether to go for Digital animation or Multimedia design... I'm not sure which one is more worth my money and time to invest in... and the job opportunities after I graduate... rclxub.gif damn..! shakehead.gif

The showcase is kinda good.. But wait, I don't see any Digital animation grad showcase?! shocking.gif

Frankly speaking for me, I didn't consider all these much. More like passion over money smile.gif

That's coz Digital Animation is just diploma course.. That showcase is for degree. TOA doesn't offer degree for Digital Animation..
And frankly speaking, from my own point of view, you don't actually need a degree or masters in animation hmm.gif
*
I know but after you graduate from the college and start searching for jobs... will this affect the "job-hunting" progress? Maybe degree-holders + good portfolio will have more opportunity than you?

It's like.. (Degree holder + Good portfolio) VS (Diploma holder + Good portfolio). sad.gif

Yeap, if you want to get degree at the first place, then don't go for diploma because you'll be wasting one whole year. It's possible to do the degree in Malaysia, they have partnered up with Hertfordshire to allow you to obtain it's degree over here in Malaysia (which is why I showed you their syllabus at the first place biggrin.gif)
By the way, I also found out that Multimedia University (MMU) offer degree for Multimedia design.. smile.gif

But in TOA, it's a bit of complicated? unsure.gif 3 years of Multimedia design course with 9 semesters, and you get a diploma.. after that? How to go for degree? Is there any qualification of what? Or I can directly take the degree program instead of diploma>degree? In MMU if I'm not wrong still need to study A-level/STPM? Can't directly use SPM result to enter an university.. I'm not sure, this is what I heard from my friend..
