Persona got lots of problem? sure or not? which problem, mind to highlight it?

My ride 20k km on the board already, so far so good except following which has yet to resolve:
a) Front brake problems, something is scrapping with the rotor or caliper and making noise.

b) Revv the engine kaw kaw, turn off the ignition, the fan keeps on spinning to cold the engine ..Weird and funny. The only way to turn the fan Off is to start the engine again. It only happen when you Revv the engine kaw kaw..casual driving, no such problem.

Bear in mind, i drag it to 6-7k rpm for daily driven route..

hi new here.... i've got my persona on 25th December 2007....
only a year and i have hit 33k milage
everything is good so far....
rev engine till 7.5k daily still good...

20k already? Wow! When did you get yours? I'm hitting 18k soon and I got mine in early August. I wonder how much would the major service would be.

And man, 6 - 7k rev is really high! Mine doesn't go above 4.5k!

mine is the very first batch, got mine last year Sept 07. Only clocked 20k km per year..my Persona is mainly use to work which is 4km away from my home and also travel to Png-Genting every month
the rest of the day, my ride park inside car porch..

Haven't sent for 20k km service. For auto tranny, prepare to fork out ~rm700 for this major service.

can any of u tell me what are the stuf that need to be replace on the 1k service?

change engine oil will do...and normal checking on the parts...thats all...

Sept 07'? Wow that's pretty long! A year plus! Damn, this means my mileage is kinda high...

And this means your Persona doesn't have IAFM is that right? And RM700, oh god. Is kinda pricey.

I hear you gotta drain out the auto gearbox oil, engine oil, some other stuff.

What does 20k service include?


1k service approx RM100+, ensure SC use Semi-syn engine oil, performs better...cheaper if you use fully mineral engine oil but the engine'll make more noise when revvin

what kind of semi-syntetic oil that is good?
petronas?
shell?
mobil?

mine sept 2007 batch, oledi nearly 40k mileage, will do major service soon

will change engine oil, oil filter, atf fluid, brake pad, spark plug...

i tried mine with semi 10w-40, n the engine sound kinda rough, but it feels lighter..

dunno whether i shud stick to it or go back to semi 15w-50

most every semi syn oil is the same, juz look for the grade like 15w-50, 10w-40 etc...

i've used mobil n petronas engine oil for my car, n maybe next time will try delphi

uhuhuh just got my car a week ago and now got a problem with the central locking...one of the passenger door lock is rosak d....is that part still cover under warranty?

Petronas Semi-Syn Motor Oil, better than the mineral motor oil

Any other motor oil to recommend semi/full syn? I'm off for 20k service prolly after CNY, and since I've done my 1k, 5k, 10k service at proton, I won't get my Persona done at a SC anymore. I'll prolly look for a 3rd party guy to do it


Yea should be covered. Try going to Shah Alam SC, they've got all the parts there.

Even my Proton saleslady also advise me after 15k service go outside service. Furthermore I confirmed with my Section 13 SC they mentioned no problem, warranty still cover

agreed...everything is still good...mine not much problem besides the central locking spoil, and rear chair noise....other than the central locking, and rear chair noise...all works fine...

Wake up early in the morning today and went to Proton service agent to do 20k km major service.

Details as below:
1) SHELL Helix Ultra 15-50W Full syntethic - RM160
There's Shell 5-40W but no discount, rm209 ...so take the 15-50W.

2) 5 bottle ATF(rm30.91 each) - RM154.55 <---naik harga liao? I remember PE only charge rm2x..~rm28 per bottle
3) 4pieces spark plug(rm10.10 each) - RM40.40
4) Air Filter - RM23.71
5) Gasket - RM2.52
6) Sundries material - RM3.50
7) Labour - RM130
Discount for 20k less 10%(- rm12)

Total RM514.90

Item excluded from this service, brake bleeding(need at least 1 bottle brake oil), coolant flush(1 bottle).

Well, if remember correctly, Proton service center charge additional accesories such as X1R Engine treament which cost rm4x, windscreen washer and etc. all those are unnecessary items

It depends on which SC you go, the price may be different.

Mine auto, ATF price hike already, but some ATF available off the shelf in market, less than rm20 is FAKE oil..

After the car is a ready for collection after the service. I straight away flew to town to hunt for new tyre..
Stock tyre is Silverstone Kruizer NS500 for my Sona, still have 80% tread left but it is time to look for new wheels, this Kruizer cannot used to whack corner.
Finally replaced with smaller size tyre, 195/55/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE001...abit expensive for 15"inchers, rm295 per piece. People upsize the wheels, i am downgrading..Hahah

As a result of this, the car is now lowered by 2cm, ground clearance has been reduced too, ..
Drawback? Smaller radius wheel means higher FC..but i think now can achieve better top speed, less wind drag







Suprisingly, this RE001 is quiet when it is new..Not sure how it performs after 5k km..

just booked my persona HL(A) last few weeks, the SA said i can get the car before feb 09....hopefully his words are true.

I cant wait for my very 1st car!!!!

juz now done my 40k service, not at proton sc, but 'bawah pokok' only hehe

details:

enduro semi syn 10w-40 4L with oil filter - rm60 (no sm grade for delphi, so i use this one instead)
air filter - rm15
atf fluid 4L - rm55
spark plug(4 pieces) - rm22
dot4 brake fluid(2 bottles as i do bleeding) - rm16
service - rm40

so total up i paid around rm208... dun ask me whr i got this cheap price, but i m very satisfied with wht i get

juz to tell u, imo 15w-50 engine oil is a bit heavy for our car, 10w-40 is most suitable, any brand can do, juz stick to one brand is the best..

for the oil filter, no nid to buy taiwan made or whtsoever, our local original is very good oledi coz it hav more layer than others..

Rev 7k rpm? Wow! Very high... I always change gear when it reaches 3 or 4k and keep it steady below 4k rpm. And the result is, my FC is only 5.6L/100km.

atf fluid 4L - rm55 huh, is it genuine oil ¿ i afraid the gearbox get blown if using wrong oil..

as i know the are fake ATF in the market
