*
kena GB issit hantu or gang..........got one guy at mfn forum ask me to tag along to camp at semenyih dam. he fish for 10 hrs using katak as bait n got 2 1kg toman, not bad but kinda creepy at night ler. the good thing about semenyih is that there is no mosquito, been there so many times and no mosquito bites.

Now you all know how expensive fishing hobby can be... If i count correctly, i should have 2 boat park at AG already by now... MuaHaHaHa...
*
i think fishing can be cheap but depedns if u can tahan those poison or not. got lots of cheap reel ma but when u (me..haha) saw those nice reel, sure wan. i plan to get a saltwater reel but in the end, the sabre guy psycho me to get a baitcasting reel so now got to get baitcasting n spinning reel. expensive is expensive but u live once, money can be made. i've been through...to be honest with u guys, something happened few months back, i lost someone and i wont be seeing her ever again. i like fishing but i knew that it is expensive that is why i didnt dare to think but after that incident....i knew that life is short, should i die during fishing (i cant swim btw), i have to accept it as a fate. that is why i try to keep my life in place, work already affected...i don wan my life too.

woi!! u guys, buat bodoh meh......i'm asking about the bottom fishing set leh, anything to recommend or anything to suggest me to look for? thanks thanks!!!

anything below rm500? haha.....over 1k is a bit too advance for a starter. jus wan to know what is the criteria or things to look for in a bottom fishing set. if like tat, better i get a jigging set, soron stx rm320++ and abu conolon at rm200.....the line n etc around RM700.

btw, ur bottom fishing is how 'bottom'? 100m deep?

hey, to be honest...surecatch product is quite nice. bought the reel oil, knife sharpener, hook remover n the crankbait. worksmanship is so so but the quality is not bad for the price. i wonder if they use the engine oil cos smells like one.

bradder,

rm500 wont get u anywhere, a good usable entry level reel cost over 600 ++ without line. Malacca strait only about 50~90 meter ler mana lu mau carik 100m ? tongue.gif

gua load 500m just incase the line kena sangkut/snap. one more thing is.. it's wise to spend more on reel or i'll guarantee u'll cry/regret and curse like no tomorrow when u crank during strong current. Get a reels from reputable manufacturer such as abu, daiwa, shimano to save ur headache as for american reels .. forget about those junk lar.  laugh.gif

muahahha total catch mah, not all gua mia tongue.gif

so any reel to recommend or not? abu spinning most expensive reel is the soron stx liao. dont tell me to get roundreel leh......not that standard yet but the shimano calcutta is quite nice leh.....hehe...especially the gold colour. so appreciate if u can give me some recommendations on the reel first. for rod.....sui sui take the ugly stick first lor....if patah, wont sakit hati tat much. got one guy ask me to get a custom rod for rm600....haha.....don wan to jadi hero n get expensive things first until i got a 'presentable' fish....haha.

Bro nico, lucky total group catch... if not aaa... can consider world record edi... MuaHaHaHa...

yothim,
tokking 'bout bottom... you must listen to bro nico... bottom fishing is his game...

i went edi to shop you said... damn expensive wor... stx with RM 710 price tag... mahal wor...  grumble.gif  grumble.gif  grumble.gif
*
aiyah, that shop always mark up his price one. after the '15%' discount, should be rm590 (i asked before), i think rm10-20 more expensive than kepong lor. always like tat one.....normally i take things and then let him calculate......not very cheap like kepong but save the hassle of going to kepong. i also went there just now....wanna get the soron stx but only got size 40, no 70. but i can tell u tat some are expensive but not till mata keluar la n some are cheap. the revo toro is only rm620-630 only....kepong also sell like tat price, sabre is rm639....just remember to ask for better price...hehe. the owner is a bit cool la but now, he is ok with me cos often went there. his shop is ok one just tat a bit cramped......

sometimes really envied u guys to have sife to learn. for me.....eat myself, got one fren......his fren open a tackle shop but till now, said wanna take me there but never did. for now, need to wait for my inshore (everywhere is out of stock else cincai get the toro) then save for another better reel...for now, must rajin-rajin cari kaki pancing.

sykt kepong is an authorised dealer for SHIMANO over here ... u can try go there and ask ask ... if u call and ask they will not layan one
lots of other places oso sells SHIMANO .. u can try to shop around and ask lorr ..
we forummers here are oso consumers ... roughly we know some products and price la ... we are not familiar with EVERYTHING ... so sometimes u just have to go to your trusted shop and ask
*
the one tat i 'trusted' sell round baitcasting reel and surely damn exp la. the one nearby my place, got limited stock...paiseh leh if go in n then didnt buy. cos he kept intro me the reel. the one tat i cant find, he intro others tat i don like...he said ok one. like the soron stx, wanna find the big one but no stock, he intro the cardinal 700series.....quite different leh the feel.

so jus wanna check the price n compare the specs then only take the $$ n sapu.....don wan to go there unprepared n then..disappointed. lots of good reel for shimano but no price tag...if i like it n then do research n everyone said 'great reel'..when i went to the shop...then...price also 'great'. tat one really potong stim leh.

yeah yeah, kepong wont give a damn one. last time said the stx about 530 n got 'good price' but when went there 570nett. the price is not that cheap, the time to travel+petrol also cover liao but got more choice.

just go to tackle shops that organise fihsing trips .. then put your name in and tag along .. simple as that .. u get experience .. plus u get to see what u need .. hahaha
*
which shop tat organize this? now after thinking....maybe have to get another 3 reels.......haha.......1 spinning, 1 baitcasting (maybe curado now since inshore is no more) and 1...recommend by u guys for bottom...wah........sell butt liao

so u are going with someone to sea ??

actually got la, i met some guys through forum...kelong bagan lalang......haha. then hopefully i'll tag along with my fren, since he is quite close with the partners of extreme anglers. btw, i think i'll start with the affordable abu baitcasting reel for bottom fishing.....cos shimano is jus too expensive for me now, maybe later. i'll be collecting 'junk' now....but junk can still be used for 'emergency'....haha......high tech one.....wait for the sifu to use la.....

btw, the inshore is totally no more in malaysia liao, not able to source it. this yr might have a replacement for this model but not sure when, i guess i have to wait for the new one la. 2nd shop told me this......

i got myself the toro...haii....i tot sabre was selling the toro70....but it was exactly the one 51, that i bought. a bit regret to get it at kepong, somemore...didnt tell me tat extra 2% is charged on credit cards until i have to pay. then went to sabre and.....haii...paiseh. but wont be using it cos no money to buy a decent rod...haha....overspend again....haha

next time, wont be going to kepong liao unless i cant find the reel model. waste time (jam) and not worth it.....haii.......kik sum. next month might get another reel from sabre...abu record.....haha....hope bonus will come in before this month. saw the torium n tekota....that was really for deep sea fishing. for me, 5-7 kg fish is 'big' liao....haha....

when i was at sabre, saw 2 malay guy went in with a small luggage...they were carrying a reel...i heard is over 2k....not shimano but dunno wat brand issit. they all are damn 'seh tuck' to spend......ask them to reel in with those expensive line....wanna load with 200m line but they said no...wan 300m for bottom fishing. and then order a customized rod.....i think pe4-8 (hehe...i learned a bit from u guys). really respect them, really can spend a lot.....

Added on January 18, 2010, 12:25 ambtw, anyone knew how to adjust the centrifuge of toro? y it looks totally different from others one?

got girls also ler.....tag along..sure can lor but i also got this problem...haha. slowly la, fishing need patience...i'm still learning to be patient. kaki will slowly come when u move along.....just make friends and surely things will come. tips for newbie for a newbie (btw, are u a newbie?)lor...join forums, be nice, be polite...be patient. kena 'blast'.....let them lor, cos no choice....cos u're asking for help, if too much then....no comment lor. so.....try not to give up so fast yet...i nearly give up few times but things will be great....i make new frens, met new ppl and hopefully tag with them for some sea fishing...freshwater one.....not easy la....all attend 'classes' one.

talk about patience...hai....don talk...kik sum.....btw, guys/girls...got to know that they are going to revise the price of abu reels in feb....if they reduce then i sure kik sum.

btw, mind telling us about ur things, the equipment n etc? haha....sorry la, cant stop to ask. tell us ur stories....for me, no story yet but got the 'script' only......

huh ?? why suddenly tok about girls and fishing together one ?? hehehe
JUST DO IT ... with whatever u have ... then only will u have an understanding of what is required or good or no good or nice feel or whatever etc etc laaa ... all commercial websites and shops just wanna selll stuff so whatever they are selling will always be the best ... hahahahahaa
*
got newbie here ler....check the msg before my previous ones. talk about shops.....i think i will only frequent the one nearby my house, sabre or.....kepong (will be my last resort for shimano reel. btw, how u all think about kepong shop? quite lc leh the ppl there...even some of the staff also). but one thing i knew is that if u pay peanut, u get monkey (99% of the time). the cap ayam leader that i got for my first time was so thick that i hate tying the leader. then went to sabre....bought a 20lbs leader. it was 3 times more expensive but the line is thin....more than half the diameter of the cap ayam leader....cap ayam is 0.6mm which is the size of a 60lbs leader.

wat nicotine said is right.......either pay more or buy more.

50-60 pound, is still ok la since i think u will using big hooks for big fish. mine small hook but the leader is so damn tough......

aiyah, we are from different level leh.....u cant compare a hill n a sky. haha.....for me, easy easy first then wire one....don wan to think about it so soon.

if tying line is like tying shoelace, no one would waste time creating so many knots ler.

for me, will be in hibernating mode until the bonus day...then might join someone that i met at the star for some kelong fishing. for now, try to get the baitcasting rod first else, diam-diam sit at home...haha...
