u can learn to tie knots .. setup rigs .. and some other misc items

but for beginner i suggest just get a cheap setup (around rm100 or so) .. just to see if u really like it .. if u do then see where u go from there .. if u dont then u dont lose much

whatever your choice have to depend on your fishing location and style preference .. saltwater ? freshwater ? paypond ? hunt in the wild ? off to sea ?

when u have an idea of where u wanna start fishing then u can decide what kinda stuff u wanna buy ..

making your own rods with bamboo ??
need to do that in order to get your badge one ah ??

sorry ah .. me only know how to fish .. dunno about rod making one ..

buying a rod is most of the time much cheaper than making your own .. but if your DIY spirit rules then be my guest .. hehehe

a cheap rod can start from rm10 and above ..
cheapo reel ( dont expect this to perform like magic) starts from rm15 and above ..

Yes local but i live in US and have sold fishing equipment there etc...just giving some choices...I would be very surprised if they dont have bamboo or cane rods here cause they are all made in asia: china, thailand etc...

to keep your budget to a minimum .. i suggest u start off with a paypond setup to see if u really like to fish
then u can decide where u wanna go from there ..

all in less than rm100 to start off with .. of coz u wont be able to get those nice nice stuff la .. but it should be enuff to get u to see which direction u wanna go of if u wanna go up the ladder in this fishing thing .. hehehe
