QUOTE(TeraPox @ Jun 15 2008, 11:07 PM) HL bank card good or not? got any good benefit? Many people have asked similar question like yourself. Emmm ..... everyone should make an effort to read the threads before asking questions. I can say HLB card is not good but someone else may disagree coz different cards fits different needs. Every card has its own specialty and benefits. One card from a particular bank may appeal to one but may not appeal to someone else. Understand what you want to have - dining, travel, discounts, petrol savings, etc and there's a card for everyone.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 16 2008, 02:00 PM) @TeraPox, I just checked RHB's website. Apparently, only the Visa Infinite credit card allows access into airport lounges. My question now is, how difficult is it to obtain this card as opposed to their usual Platinum card? Also, are U issued a separate Priority Pass membership card or is it linked with ur Visa Infinite card? @tinkerbel Not really. You can apply for RHB's Platinum card and you'll get the Priority Pass as well. Upon approval of your card, you'll get 2 cards -one being your credit card and the other one the Priority Pass. You'll need both cards to enter the airport lounge if I'm not mistaken. You'll need to pay to enter the airport lounge if I'm not mistaken. (Priority Pass is a membership actually which the bank bears the membership fees being you as a Platinum card holder) To obtain VISA Infinite - it's requirements is more or less equivalent to a Citigold card member.

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Jun 16 2008, 03:42 PM) The credit limit isnt based on the card u give them. They have their own risk calculation system. All they need to find out is whether u are a good pay master or not (payment). If these are true then why do the bank insist that your credit card need to be @ least 1 year old before using it as reference to apply a new card. In fact, some are more aggressive when they can make do with a 6 or 10 months card. Sometimes the banks makes it a little hard by asking for a 18 months old card before it can be used to make reference when applying for a new card. Anyone can explain this phenomena ?

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 20 2008, 12:01 AM) @TeraPox, U seem to be a collector of Platinum Credit Cards People who owns Platinum cards would not want to carry gold cards or be offered new gold cards under normal circumstances. I think it's pretty normal for @TeraPox act that way.

QUOTE(kapitan @ Jun 21 2008, 06:54 PM) Yesterday I went to OCBC to help my company pay monthly installment for lorry H/P. When I got there, there was this lady who stop me to asking me which credit card that Im using. To my surprise, OCBC is having a promotion where if you own a gold card from any bank, they will offer you a Platinum card BUT you have to do a balance transfer. LOL... its funny how they always stop someone who's wearing working attire but never if you wear t-shirt and short pant. Not to mentioned that to went from classic -> gold -> platinum in 3months. They gotta be desperate. Thinking of cancelling my Citibank card after my Korea trip early next year. I still prefer HSBC by miles. They hardly call me when I didnt pay. Its just that they keep charging me late payment fee which I dont really care at all. The only time when I got a call was when I increase my limit to 9.5k and broke it in 3 days. The best thing is that I got an account with them and I can pay by telling them to deduct from my account. CIMB (SBB) never allow me to do that lastime even though I got an account with them. Which particular OCBC branch did this happen ? Any duration to this promotion ? (Hope the Platinum is not the Robinson's platinum) OCBC Platinum if I'm not mistaken is only via invitation only. I pity the petrol station owners but to actually resort to publicly threaten the general public (No to credit card) is I think outrageous ! So, if the petrol prices rises again ... they'll threaten the public again just like the last time.
The public can just choose to pay in cash or find stations which accepts cc but this doesn't really address the problem.
The real problem is actually how the petrol station owners is being compensated by all of the petrol companies. Get real guys and hit at the right target!

QUOTE(Syd G @ Jun 25 2008, 04:32 PM) Look for Charge Card-i here : http://www.alrajhibank.com.my/Benefits : - 55 days no charge/interest- Islamic takaful (if u die then no need to pay) - it's a VISA! (widely acceptable) - RM10 per withdrawal at ATM overseas / local Cons : - no points? - RM70 yearly fee - Takaful is not free A few more notes to this card. It's a fully Syariah compliant card, means that there's a possibility that the bank may reject the transaction should it is used in a non-syariah compliant venue/merchant. (e.g Maybe you can't use this card at your KTV when entertaining clients) I remember someone telling me this information several years back which is the characteristic of the Al-Taslif card (AMBank) The longer no interest period was one of the main attraction. (I inquired out of curiosity) In fact one of my friend who owns a Bank Islam credit card mentions that his outstanding amount (if he pays before/on the due date), the bank will reward him with a discount on the profit rate (this is what they term the interest under the syariah concept) in the next bill. I'm not sure on the rate of the discount though. I'm surprised when I heard this. Unfortunately, this is one of the few banks/cc which is not heavily promoted. (I'm not affiliated with the bank ) This post has been edited by hye: Jun 25 2008, 10:46 PM

QUOTE(ZONX @ Jun 25 2008, 10:54 PM) sry, this thread is too long, manage to go through few pages only but anyway, do you guys come out with the 'so far' best cc at this moment? coz going to apply for 1 soon and there are too many choices thx for the recommedation @ZONX Simple ... the best are mainly foreign banks. The local bank are probably MBB but the final decision should be your choice. If you read up all the threads, different ppl have different experiences with the bank that issues the cc. Some cards may be better suited to your needs and likewise. Unless we know you well (or anyone else which comes by and ask this question), whatever we say won't represent the best for you. You have to investigate yrself. This post has been edited by hye: Jun 25 2008, 11:48 PM

QUOTE(Syd G @ Jun 25 2008, 11:06 PM) hye, I'm a muslim so KTV is out of the picture I plan to pay off full amount every month but am expecting a hiccup or two cause I'm getting married really soon. That's why I found the 55 days profit free period is so attractive. I found that heavily-promoted cards tend to hv crappy benefits (hence the heavy promotion ). In the mean time am gonna upgrade my Maybankcard to Visa Debit @Syd G Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Well, everyone have their own preferences on the cc they use. Probably I think your preference will change over time as and when you are able to get access to better cards. (e.g Classic -> Gold -> Platinum) Probably this won't be applicable for you as your main preference seems to have access to longer "no interest" period. This narrows down the available choices dramatically.

I did mention that "(e.g Maybe you can't use this card at your KTV when entertaining clients) ". I probably did not give a good example - I try very hard not to accidentally offend anyone here. It's a public forum after all.

QUOTE(ZONX @ Jun 25 2008, 11:53 PM) thx for the fast reply because i'm using diners now. would it be helpful in applying a cc? and from previous reply, i notice that maybe cc won't be useful as before since not allowed to use in gas station. is it true? i use card mostly in gas station @ZONX CC are still accepted @ gas stations. I doubt so these guys will succeed in their threat because this is close enough to create chaos in the Malaysian financial institutions (created a panic in Sabah already) - BNM/Govt won't allow this and more importantly the public don't find this amusing either coz they are the one paying for the fuel (it's not free) - petrol stations shouldn't be dictating T&C.
