QUOTE(Syd G @ Jun 26 2008, 01:29 AM) @tinkerbel @Syd GWe're about to cancel our HSBC card due to crappy points value I agree that the HSBC is rather "calculative" in terms on points value but they make this up tremendously via their outstanding CS. Well everyone here would agree on this notion at least. - If you are worried about the higher annual fees for now, may I suggest (this require some discipline) that he pays for everything via his card for now and you can split the bill later when the bill arrives. - Postpone getting your own card till maybe 6 months down the road where you probably would have settled down better. Probably your initial card could be the CIMB Petronas card which is Free for Life (FOL). I hope the petrol station crisis would be over by then. This would provide you with the necessary financial independence I think. (Again ... I think you would have thought of this better) Well ... I wish I have a GF with your virtues. |

QUOTE(iluvena @ Jun 26 2008, 04:44 PM) why rhb so late in processing my application for balance transfer? RHB historically has never been fantastic with it's credit card approval turnaround. My previous experience was - 1st time 2 month (Cancelled already several years back) and the 2nd time (4-5 weeks) (Card canceled already)anybody have the experience? how long usually it takes to process (new card application together with balance transfer plan)? I suggest you arrange for regular payment and not to hope RHB card to approve quickly. This post has been edited by hye: Jun 26 2008, 05:00 PM |

QUOTE(bee993 @ Jun 27 2008, 10:08 PM) can i ask if i buying something from uk then pay by card...how will i be charge? Simple ... whatever you are paying in the foreign currency just convert in back into the local amount based on rates on the transaction date - you can use XE to calculate this amount. This provides you with an indicate amount of the charges. (The actual conversion rates are set by Mastercard/VISA international, so they may be slight variation from XE's rates)conversion rates + extra charge? which 1 of these charge the less? eon cc visa/ citibank cc visa/ mbb cc master amex thanks 90 pound thing will end up i pay how much? Just add on the additional charges and there you go. Check out the 1st post for details on the additional charges for overseas transaction + which bank/card is better @ this. |

QUOTE(bee993 @ Jun 27 2008, 10:28 PM) There's 2 dates to look @ if you were to refer to your bill. Transaction date & posted date - I suspect the calculations is based on the posted date rather than the transaction date but I'm not sure about this. Posted date is more often than not - a few days later than the transaction date. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jun 28 2008, 11:01 PM) Emmm ... miss out that one. Still it's not free for life. Our friend is looking for both Syariah Compliant & Free For Life. I'm quite sure such card does not exist - at least not having both features. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jun 28 2008, 11:18 PM) Or pay using your CIMB account - no interbank transfer fees incurred. Don't be surprised David83 - there was a time where you can't use your AMBank account to pay for your MBF card although AMBank already own MBF at that point of time. However, I sense that AMBank is treating MBF like a stepson coz back then my CL need to be approved by AMBank (weird huh?) for my MBF cc. Unfortunately for AMBank, MBF cc is the more well known brand than the AMBank cc. MBF got additional charges for overseas use (I think 2%) and CS was bad - my primary reasons for canceling this card back then. This post has been edited by hye: Jun 28 2008, 11:28 PM |

Well ... to those wanting to apply the SCB VISA Infinite. I think the biggest drawback (if you qualify income wise) ... the card does not have a 1st free offer, immediately it'll attract the RM 800 annual fee.
(And that lucky applicant would have to pay for it) |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jul 4 2008, 12:33 PM) Me too ... never got the promised gift. (The first time, I had to kick a huge fuss but I got the gift after a wait of 8-12 months) The second encounter with HSBC was no different but the only consolidation is that the sales person offered me another gift (which he personally gave) out of goodwill. Of all the good things that has been said about HSBC, this is probably the only weak (and very visible) aspect that upsets the customers. (I hope someone from HSBC reads this) |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 8 2008, 10:55 PM) @Syd G, I can vouch for that .... I don't think U can blame the airlines for the fuel surcharges though admittedly I don't like the idea of it *sigh* Also, I find it ridiculous that it's so high. Apparently fuel charges + airport taxes + administrative charges for a flight to Hokkaido is RM1400!!!!! |
