QUOTE(masterelr @ Mar 28 2014, 09:25 PM) This seems to be the most violent Marvel movie (not that I have a problem with that). The punches and kicks were very detailed and people getting shot at was also pretty graphic compared to the previous Marvel movies. Hell.. someone even said "son of a b****". Watched this in IMAX 3D. The movie itself was alright but the 3D? What 3D? There's not a single scene from start to end where I felt like I'm watching a 3D movie. It would have been awesome if it was shown in HFR 3D like Desolation of Smaug, all the fast paced actions could be clearly seen Rating it as the best stand alone hero movies of Marvel to date

Just watched this movie today at GSC Setia City Mall. Honestly i would say, this movie is quite good and entertaining.. Better than the Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and The Avenger. This is the first time of my life I'm enjoying watching Marvel movie. Last but not least, CHRIS EVANS IS FARKING HOTT !!! I wonder, this movie will have Part 3 or not? This post has been edited by xpole: Mar 28 2014, 11:47 PM

I still think the first Captain America is the one that stands out most in the recent flurry of Marvel flicks (since Iron Man). It had a very well worn, old school air to it, with a glorious sheen of retro-futurism. And a satisfying villain from Hugo Weaving. The whole thing was rooted in the old days of telling a story, it was old fashioned, everything was black and white. I liked that. The tone was very noticeably different from all the other Marvel fare.
To its credit, the second movie does try to set it self apart too, at least for half of the movie. The first half is refreshingly free of CGI, and the tone is Bourne-lite, with its political sways and thriller sensibilities, complete with shaky cam (still feel only Greengrass truly knows how to employ shaky cam though). The pace was just right, action scenes had a certain something missing to it (some odd staging and framing for me) but entertaining and different nonetheless. But then the second half happened. Suddenly the thriller tone was gone, replaced by the familiar formulaic approach of the Marvel superhero movies ala Avengers, Thor, and Iron Man with full-on CGI spectacles. The major action setpiece feels like a rehash of one of the action sequences from the Avengers. Surely they could have come up with a different setting to set up the main action sequence? That was a major disappointment. Another disappointment was the winter soldier, easily the worst bit of the movie. For a title nemesis he was woefully written, cringe worthily presented, and just an utter bore to experience. There are good ideas behind the character and how it links to Rogers, but the manner in which it's done here... well they might as well not bothered.
Overall I'll give this a 3.5/5 on the strength of the first half. I'm dumbfounded by the stellar ratings this has at RT, as I usually am with many of other highly rated action flicks (most especially those from Marvel).

Dammit I was expecting at least an Iron Man cameo when Nick Fury was told to get him to mingle around with people in a party.

Got back from watching Capt 2 at GSC Tropicana yesterday (9:50pm screening) and I didn't really enjoy the experience thanks to the awful VQ at Hall 1 It is blur and the night scenes are barely watchable, I mean come on man....if it is in digital 2D, it should be clear but naaahhh, the VQ kills my experience yesterday unfortunately. Overall excluding the bad VQ, I enjoyed the movie but I would say Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier could be a lot more menacing. With just his eyes alone is okay, once his whole face is exposed, it is like his intimidating aura hits rock bottom straight (soft) ~_~ This post has been edited by shinjite: Mar 29 2014, 10:31 AM

Anyone else realizes that towards the end of the film Capt did not actually say the bolded line (but shown in the trailers): Sam: When do we start? Capt: We just did.

The movie itself was alright but the 3D? What 3D? There's not a single scene from start to end where I felt like I'm watching a 3D movie. From the first frame, the 3D effect was there - its just that it extends INTO the screen, rather than having things fly out all the time - other than when weapons are pointed towards the audience. I thought 3D was very well utilized in displaying the scale of the ships - especially towards the end - the aerial battle scenes. Saw it at the GSC ATMOS 3D hall, which was quite acceptable, other than the dimness..they could increase the brightness a bit more - Its probably the dimensions and distance of the IMAX screen that made it feel like there is no 3D... which was why i skipped IMAX. I don't feel IMAX can do justice to 3D features not optimized for the format.. plus looking like the resolution is insufficient for the screen size doesn't help - digital pixelation and artifacts are so visible etc..

Just got to see it this afternoon. In my opinion, it is by far the best Marvel movie ever. Better than IM3 in terms of story and intensity. The » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Nick Fury car chase scene keep me at the edge of my seat! Can't wait to see the next episode and Agent of » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hydra Highly recommended even for non-fan of the franchise.
