i think the expectation needs to be set.
i myself is not a big fan of capt america. cos imagine a bit of super strength and all and the god damn shield only. LOL. so pathetic as a hero.
i felt the action was just enough to show his strength and all. i felt this was a good movie just setting up the avengers nicely.

Bingo.

Cap was just that strong against normal human.

Just like in the movie, one hit was the majority of what Cap did to all who fought him, and they all went flying.

Thus that's why there's less brawling @ less action.

~

BUT.

Thanks to that, there were many Leonidas (300) slow-motion moments, where the action just slowed down to show Cap hit them one by one biggrin.gif

Bet you all didn't notice that, mirite? brows.gif

Watched it last weekend, I thought it was good. Cap, like Thor is a tricky character to be adapted to the big screen...remember Albert Pyun's 1990 flick sweat.gif

Its been a great year for Marvel, and hopefully Joss Whedon delivers a good Avengers film.

As for The Avengers, hoping it will not fail, considering that many superhero in one movie.

Just finished the movie. Enjoyed it. Was faithful to the original and also incorporated the ultimate avengers as well. Well done marvel, this has been a good year. And next year will be huge when the avengers assemble!

Captain America, though lack in action.. Had a brilliant script!
I didn't mind the action at all coz the interesting moments are when the characters interact
But you need to watch Thor before watching this..
Else, the ending will make you go hmm.gif
The sequel would def be in present time.. No more WW2 wink.gif

At least this movie is better than THOR... THOR sucks.. Until now i still dont like it... Capt America is best avenger team movie followed by Spiderman , Wolverine:Origin and Iron Man.

an ok movie for me. not as great as id hope it be, not at all a failure or a disappointment id feared it be.

most of my thoughts have been mentioned by other reviewers-
some actions and plot points kinda comicky not realistic, used to drive the movie forward
although this cap may be a little bit bland and boring, id prefer the cap to atleast be bland by being stoic, heroic and inspirational, normal traits of a leader - i blame this on writers on director, not the actor which gave a somewhat original take on cap- different from johnny storm.

so many other stuff if to nitpick... but in the end, i enjoyed it for what it is, even if its not as great as id hope itd be.

truly enjoyed the avengers teaser trailer in the end.

if to rate it against thor- sad to say thor may have better characterization and story- its just that i hate the cheap setting in thor (the desert town scene, not asgard)

This movie was OK but Thor was better! My only complain was Red Skull! He is not very menacing and intimidating. At some point, he's actually friendly and nice. He's suppose to be Cap's worst enemy and yet, in the movie he seems to be bit weak and boring.

Funny, I find that a very apt description of Loki in Thor.

Weaving was underused to be sure, but at least there were little 'moments' for his character- like that time when he handed someone his car keys.

He was suppose to give a medal to Captain America and his line was 'I thought he be taller.' or something along that line.
