if u got petronas scholarship better go to utp...
because need a lot of money to study there..
but if u using your own money for studying..
better UTM.
UTM better for engineering....
if u want to work with petronas...u can still work for them by scoring in UTM..
but why only choose petronas?how about shell and other international company?
in utm u also can get better job opportunities..

the most important, u must score man...
even if u studying in UTP,if u cannot score
u cannot got any job.

UTP and UTM are the best for engineering..
but UTM more experience in engineering...
UTM got alot of experience lecturer and 1st facilities
don't worry...

UM better in medical and science..

without petronas, utp is just a normal ipts. because most graduates manages to secure job with petronas, that why statistic shows most of their graduates manage to secure job within 6months after graduate.
for engineering, UTM is more well known and reputable U. I've been there many times, and I can say that the facilities is 1st class. moreover, they have  you can stay in the hostel from 1st year till final year. not to mention reasonable fees.

gor UM, their engineering is not famous. they are more famous in science and medical.

seriously, if you wanna work in the O&G industry, go UTP.

without PETRONAS, there is no UTP (since the name itself is Uni Tech Petronas). just an old USM bulding left. most graduates secure jobs within PETRONAS as well as other O&G companies (those who are not bonded with PET)
you should go to UTP too when u have the time. its great here.. but the weather is a bit too hot here. facilities i can say one of the best. and you have to stay in campus throughout the years ur in UTP...

hi.im from utp and also a petronas scholar.when i read through all of this discussion, all of you are saying that if you are pursuing your study in utp, you should not be worry about your job later on.

but for me, in utp even for the petronas scholar, our job are still not secured as you all said. we still need to score and even after we graduate there still will be an interview for the scholar to be able to get a job. if you are lucky enough then you will be sent to any of the petronas companies.for the non-scholar, after you graduate you can go wherever you want.

in term of the engineering facilities, as for me who is doing chem eng in utp, i would say the facilities here is great. it is almost the same as the real-time engineering facilities on site.maybe you are right about O&G and utp.if you are interested in O&G then it is best for you to further in utp.but believe it or not, mostly now chem eng are related to the O&G industry.

one more when you are in the final year final, there will be an inside interview in utp with many other companies beside petronas.i guess other uni also have the same process as well.

however, in the end it is you who will determine your own job later on. it doesnt matter which uni you choose but your final result is the most important of all wink.gif

i reckon that your statistics is based on the number of Petronas Scholars who are absored into that org right after their graduation. it is a must for all petronas scholars to attend job interview after their graduation. this is where your statistics come into play because most of them are absord into petronas and its subsidiaries. others got into it and engineering field, while some of them got into grad school. utp is best known for its electrical and chemical engineering program and just about 2 years ago utp introduced petroleum engineering when not many unis in malaysia offer that program. in near future, utp will offer a program in geoscience. i'd say if you guys out there are into engineering, opt for utp or utm.

utp is beyond doubt new, entering its 10th anniversary last year. we can't compare utp with those unis that are already several decades old and most of the ranking methodology are biased to each other. no single ranking can gauge utp actual credibility and quality.

tq.

To TS,

Go to UTP if you get Petronas scholars. Or if you able to secure JPA or MARA scholarship. Else, it will be a big amount to study here.

UTM Mechanical? No comment. Don't have friend there.
I have friends in UM and USM mechanical, visited their lab facilities and everything. smile.gif
I would say UTP stands out better in this. More comfortable environment to study as well.

UTP is pretty new as a university, of course the research capability (amount) lose the UM/UTM. Better visit those campus yourself, to have a look at the study environment, etc.

To me, UTP is pretty good in term of teaching material and facilities. Lecturers? Well every universities have their "great" lecturer and "bad" lecturers. Not all are as good as azarimy tongue.gif

Job opportunities? Well with 32 weeks internship you gonna go through in UTP, I believe many companies will want you after your graduation.
If you targetting oil n gas sector, studying in UTP does give you priority over other universities student (it still depend on yourself, how you bring yourself a student).

Good luck in choosing a suitable uni for yourself to further study in mechanical engineering.

I'm from UTP, Mechanical Engineering, final semester wink.gif

I see a lot mention that UTP is good for engineering. But is it good for engineering in GENERAL or SPECIFIC ones like Chemical only? What about Civil?
