from my experience...don't ask for permission from them, but tell them.

instead of "can i play bowling tonight?", tell them "i have bowling session tonight"

exactly . you're not supposed to be bowing down to them , at least not too much.

when u all tell me all kind of women reaction to gamers, i'm kinda get worry with my future gf or wife. hopefully i will met someone that is tolerance to game. if not i'm in trouble big time.

make them to fall in love with gaming. for example, find the game that suit for casual players. it's easier in wii. LOL. in xbox 360, buy them the arcade game. not sure in ps3 though. don't have 1.

i'm in the opposite situation btw...
my ex keeps making faces & blurt out words of dislike whenever i took out my psp...
months after we broke up, i bought a ps3... i bet he'll hang himself if he sees me with the ps3, hehe...

My GF will pissed off when i holding my PSP whole day (more then 12 hours) maybe gaming makes she feeling LOA... hahaa... usually she won't say a word... but... i rather prefer she say something... because... once she pissed off she will directly silent up... n show me the !@#$%$#@! face... another thing is... when i playing with my PS3... she also say i look damn childish in front of TV... i wonder what is the differences between i playing games on my computer n TV Consoles... while i in front of my PC... no body complaining... but everyone seems complaining when i playing console in front TV...

when ur in front of the pc u look IT savvy, look smart. When sit in front tv playing console we just look like "kid playing childish games".

Their poor perception goes all wrong when they keep hearing the "childish game" make sound like adults going at it while ur playing grand theft auto IV.

My wife bought me my 360 for our wedding, and then later, the Wii. She played the hell out of Animal Crossing WW for the DS and is still playing 2 years later (a new game). When she was in labor with our first child, she was playing Sudoku on the DS.

So yeah. Education is key - you have to clue them into how gaming is no different from any other hobby, and sometimes, even less destructive (compared to smoking). Include them in the process, but then again, not everyone can be as receptive to it (when in the US my wife organised Halo2 LAN tournaments for her university dorm).

for me, some people think that the console gaming is for children because they are so exposed to "ehem" games. they do not know the actual price of the game. for me, console gaming is for adult because the console itself is so expensive (rm1000 ++ is expensive maaa) and the game cost around rm150. haha
