that one is easy... add a relay to the power cable... relay acts like a switch that follow the key turn... when your key turn to acc, the relay allows the current to flow to on the speaker...

types of wire would be 8g for the power(+) and ground(-), while a normal 14g for the key switch to the relay...

Buy power inverters - 160w or more and that should do the trick - make sure that you have sufficient w to power up your speakers.

Get the accesories shop guys to modify the power inverter a bit straight to your battery - not using the normal cigarette lighter port.

Then put this inverter on your rear bonnet. These inverters should have a normal plug (like the 3 pins we have at home) to plug your PC speakers.

After you got that powered up, connect your PC speakers to your amp (or line out of your player - if you have one) - might need to purchase the right cables for these.

After that, place your speakers somewhere nice wink.gif

I've seen a kenari with altec lansing before, the driver actually put this upside down (i don't know the model but the speakers are thin and long) bolted it to the roof and damn it look nice.

Post a pic if you manage to do it! thumbup.gif

the thing is power inverters are expansive...so i''m trying to do something DIY..coz i asked an accesories shop before and the quote me rm110 for wiring from front to back with a small fuse...

so i was thinking instead of wasting the rm110, maybe i can buy better speakers to fit in the car....

@craziechild...u mean even after the power from the cigarette socket also need a fuse?

wah save cost until like this ah? shakehead.gif

sure or not can plug direct to car battery? I read somewhere that the car voltage will go up and down and it's not stable.
You might risk burning your speakers if like that blink.gif

Anyway good luck then. Do share with us if your project is a success thumbup.gif cool.gif

most inverters that you can buy nowadays would plug in to the 12v cigarette lighter in the car . if you do go with the inverter , make sure you get an inverter with a higher power rating than what the speakers need

never seen an inverter in real life before , so i have no idea about the 2 12v plug thing sweat.gif

but IMHO a 250w unit should be enough as long as you get more of a casual 2.1 setup or less . not too sure about the power requirements of 4.1 and 5.1 setups ....

ps : garage sales used to have a few sellers selling it last time . not sure about now

the input for 12v is just like 2 holes for u to plug in banana plugs for negative and positive terminal...

i'm just looking for a 2.1 unit or 2x2.1 for back and front lol...

Hey guys,

If I want to modify my car to enable my PC speakers to be installed, where can I go to ?
Can you all recommend a place for me to go.

Most shops refuse to do such modifications because they want to push for you to buy their subwoofer, amplifier system and so on which is super expensive.

Please advise and thank you all.

Just DIY - would be cheaper.

all you need is a power inverter, an audio out from your standard HU or amp, pc speaker, and of course, a place to hold it.

well , just make sure you check the input ratings of the speakers you plan to use before you buy the inverter then. dont later when buy already then you realise your inverter cant supply enough power to the speakers sweat.gif

thought of wiring it by the outer side of the seats ? can hide it beneath the floor lining , and also should have clear path right to the back

guys,

i'm planning to whack a creative megaworks 510D 5.1.
http://www.digit-life.com/articles/creativ...510d/index.html
if i'm not mistaken, the speaker set watt rating is at 500W RMS.

will the ngbh's 500watt inverter are able to sustain the blasting power?

guys,

i'm planning to whack a creative megaworks 510D 5.1.

if i'm not mistaken, the speaker set watt rating is at 500W RMS.

will the ngbh's 500watt inverter are able to sustain the blasting power?

HU without AUX output still can use...u just get a HiLo converter from accesories shop...cos around rm20 to RM30 depends on the brand...it convert from your stock spekaer wired output from player to RCA output only...

is just 500watt RMS so is not 500watt...i forget the calculation how to conver wattRMS to pure watt n definately is lower than 200watt....to be on the safe side...get a 300watt inverter la...300watt inverter can even power up a 22inch LCD plus a DVD player ady...

Frankly speaking this whole idea of a PC enclosure in a car is..................................... hard to explain & no comments; don't wanna upset ppl who thought of this idea, real comments come out worst than that 'American Idol' judge. One $400 plus branded HU with front cap-ayam component speakers & rear 6"X9" will sound over the moon compare to what you're trying to cook-up here. Sorry, no offence-lah here but the truth.

bro...u r wrong...did u test before using comp woofer work inside a car? remember 1 thing...setting n tunning is very important here...of coz we cant compare ppl spending thousand of ringgit for their monoblock and woofer....i am damm sure u cant compare a budget of 400 HU with cap ayam component n rear 6 x9 speaker win...c my setup below...my cheap n budget setup...

HU = Pioneer 3950 (rm550)bought it last year April...
Front component = DLS B6 but using DLS T25 tweeter...(RM900 for component...RM140 for tweeter)
Amp for front = 4 channel audiovox (coz me rm500plus 4 years ago)
rear speaker = for wut? disturb my sound quality...
woofer = Altec lansing 45.1

y i am using this woofer when i spend so much of money from my saving to purchase expensive component? the secret is here...altec lansing 45.1 woofer produce a frequency that is not too low nor too high compare to woofer outside...not to say outside 1k plus woofer cant produce but u need a amp tht can do fine tune...but for comp speaker..originally the sound produce out suit SQ bass...tht is y im using it till now...except i got a budget of 5k for me to get a amp n woofer for SQ....a person that play SQ doesnt need a rear speaker and coz not a 6 x 9 speaker that produce mix up sound....SQ base on front staging n with a nice fine tune...u can get a surround sound eventhough rear dun have any speaker...if u dun believe me...lets meet up n let u try my sound system....

Can't understand what you're trying to elaborate from your full above statement doh.gif Anybody here can do a translation? I think my understanding for this thread is comments regarding installing PC speakers in a car within its pros & cons. Surround sound is not for music listening pleasure other than AV within a car which incorparate delay & reverb. If somebody here regard delay & reverb within sound to be a priority for a SQ setup within a car than we are definately not speaking the same language.

Bro, with your existing hardware just drop in a 12" enclosure bridged, damn sure you'll get better 'shape' & staging with your current Altec Lansing 45.1. Just my 2 cents opinion. nod.gif

the thing is power inverters are expansive...so i''m trying to do something DIY..coz i asked an accesories shop before and the quote me rm110 for wiring from front to back with a small fuse...

so i was thinking instead of wasting the rm110, maybe i can buy better speakers to fit in the car....
@craziechild...u mean even after the power from the cigarette socket also need a fuse?

power inverter is not so expensive la.. 150W is enough for the speaker, cost Rm60plus only

owh

did AL 45.1 also since march ago.
lazy post la.

sound quality wise is for me excellent for the $$ u dumped in.
of cuz u cant compare 1k++ with AL 45.1

u jz compare RM300< sub with AL5.1
and u will notice the differ.

it is worh the money.
it is a decent way to mody ur ICE.
easy to do also.
i jz straight connect to one of my rear wire to sub with converter la.
so oni sub and one sat sprk gt sound. the other no sound.
basically i oni need the sub. my compo , HU is perfect working with AL 45.1

yes. Crazzeclan.
do invite them to come over to try.
i am sure they will be pretty amaze -)

there is no distortion when converting. (loss of bass or watsoeva)

ok bout the set up, i've seen ppl installed Logitech Z2300 in their car.

and the car really pounds as they installed 2 sets of Z2300 in their car.

Logitech Z2300 cost around rm500 and i can tell you that its the BEST 2.1 PC speakers you will ever hear.

the subwoofer is made 100% distortion FREE. wow?

Maybe you choosed the wrong set of speakers to play with?

Anyway if you would like your sound better, just add in a cheap tweeter at the front, and buy 1 subwoofer and put it at the back, crank up your volume (not too loud though!) and i think you should be satisfied.

Unless you want to throw away that inverter of yours - do PM me the price. I live near Cyberjaya laugh.gif who knows might have a use for it.. hehe

i didnt invent anything...i did it with edifier r401, the sound produced by the satellite speakers were loud and clear, but just have to take off the front plastic protector...the face lah i mean...if not it will bend under hot sun....

i placed the subwoofer in the trunk and the bass was very disappointing...not clear, soft and no feel

my actual point to put those speakers in the car was to get SOME better bass...but end up with a very disappointing result...so i decided to put it back into my room and really get some money to get a set of real ICE in my car

and so now, i'm using mac audio amp, jbl gt5-12" subwoofer, boschmann component, and some cap ayam component behind coz low budget...and i am happy with this result...

probably the cause of this problem is my computer speakers weren't powerful enough but... it's serving me better in my room...

my initial plan was to use an amplifier from jalan pasar there then connect to the speakers and add a bigger subwoofer...but somehow i got lazy and just use the edifier amplifier as it is...so i think thats the problem there...

anyways i got a brand new 10" bazooka subwoofer with wooden box for sale....

Sorry for bringing up this thread..
i have a few inquiries..
If i use a power inverter to power the household appliance in my car.. do i need a fuse?or just plug n play?

2nd, let's say i use a power inverter to power my pc speakers in my car.. the relay shud be added to the power cable right as posted in the first thread.. where is the power cable?

i'm a little confused with the setup .. @2nd question.. or is it no need to add relay as the power inverter will off when the engine off?

to be more accurate-
u need a pure/true sine wave inverter.

normal ones are called modified sine wave inverter. usually more economical but not recommended. it will appear to be choppy squarish sine wave output.
