Yes we need goverment support, instead of them giving much facilities to Mat REmpits...maybe they should think about us as well....example
Champion of Wcg or ESCW or any other tourney worldwide...means overall champion at grand final should be given incentives by goverment..such as easy get loan, extra ++ money if win,get house or car at cheap price after winning tournament, secured future on jobs so easier for you to concentrate on gaming alone....If not gamers need to quit their current game before they reach their full potential... |

For a game to mature, it requires mature players.
Mature players are those who think outside the box, support the community as a whole and represent themselves well. No government or gaming company will actually support a community that doesnt even buy their original goods. Think about it, how many people in malaysia actually BUY original games. Before you ask for any support, you have to give it first. Don't compare the malaysian community to the singapore community, where its laws against piracy are extreme in singapore compared to here. The government will first need to INTERVENE before giving any SUPPORT. There are a lot of things that rest on a e-sports shoulders, firstly to call it a sport, it needs proper representation(an organization of people that solely exists to represent and aid the community) , healthy competitions, mature players and a good amount of support. |

QUOTE(crashtec @ May 2 2008, 07:54 PM) For a game to mature, it requires mature players. piracy has little influence. most of the gamers in malaysia are using original games such as steam for counter strike and as for wc/dota, cyber cafes do pay blizzard for the licensing of the game.Mature players are those who think outside the box, support the community as a whole and represent themselves well. No government or gaming company will actually support a community that doesnt even buy their original goods. Think about it, how many people in malaysia actually BUY original games. Don't compare the malaysian community to the singapore community, where its laws against piracy are extreme in singapore compared to here. imho, support from all sides and bigger community. the large dota community in malaysia made our dota teams one of the best in asia. im sure the cs community in sg is bigger thus one of the best in SEA. im not saying that our malaysian teams arent up to par, i respect our malaysian top cs teams and they are a force to be reckoned with. but im sure we can be much better with a bigger community and support support support. |

For esport to be successful in M'sia, the root factor is the gaming community themselves.
U can't expect the government to spoonfeed us due to the reason that "we r interested in gaming" or "it is the government responsibilities to provide the gaming communities all their needs". No such easy thing in life. The government got so many things to look after, thousand of other communities or enthuasist to care too apart from the esport community. Hence, the success will depends on the gaming community own effort and initiatives and the key players involved gamers, game enthuasiasts, organizer and sponsors. The questions are:- "Are we really serious enough in making it a success?" and "Did we play our role effectively in making it a success?" This post has been edited by CityLife: May 3 2008, 11:58 AM |

like most malaysians, most of the replies here were more of wanting to 'receive' than to 'give'.
receive meaning want the family, government to support and sponsors to give money befor e any hard work hoi, wake up lah! family support: believe me if you start winning the mega bucks they'll stop bugging you. government's role is to assist, not to lead. if they did, i'm sure they'd be doing do a lousy job. (btw, what sort of person wants to believe in our govt?!?) sponsors, are business people. they sponsor to get more advertisement coverage. so if there are only 8 monkeys playing in a tourney with no one watching... sponsor/advertisers would bah, why waste money? to make e-sports successful, is to only have dedicated e-sportmen. government, sponsors and support only come in later. if one is not dedicated enough, its useless. i've done so many tournaments, n i see more whiners than winners. such as: why is the entry fee so high, why is there no double elimination, why is it on a sunday when i'm not free, etc.... all selfish answers. yes, i'm referring to all you wannabes! all talk and no action. to have e-sports a reality in malaysia, players (yes, you again) need to do the following: 1. play more variety of games. many e-sport tournaments play different games and needs a variety of people to play. e.g., cs players chould play bf, cod4, etc while warcraft 3 players play cnc3, dawn of war, starcraft, etc. 2. participate, EVEN IF YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE. losing is a apart of sportsmanship. a winner is also a sporting losers, they'll take a defeat straight in face and work hard to win it back. whiners are just going to be 'whining' forever and ever, they'll just give up. 3. think. the world doesn't revolve around gamers. ah my rants. seriously, i doubt e-sports will make if we have whiners. anyone with constructive ideas?
